I don't know why people get so precious about this kind of thing tbh. Seems a bit like sentimentality for sentimentalitys sake. You've already got clubs owned by people from thousands of miles away, staffed by managers and players from all over the world, corporate logos all over every inch of the corporate sponsored stadium and the same corporate logos all over the shirts which change in design every year. You've already got bullshit "matchday experience" where fan-led atmosphere is intentionally drowned out and people are expected to be as docile as possible. The only thing that remains sacrosanct in football is the football. Everything else is already long gone.

Well no, because we're still called Leicester City aren't we?

Sponsors and all that shit don't bother me, they're more of a background thing. I can never remember our fans having a rapport with an owner and owners never go down as legends anyway, I couldn't give a shit where they're from.

We've got quite a few academy products in the squad and we've always had players who aren't from Leicester, it's just we've replaced Jocks and Paddy's with Frenchmen and Danes. So that's pretty irrelevant.

Being referred to as Leicester City by everyone is important though. As is watching us play in blue.

If we're not Leicester City we may as well be a completely different team from Leicester. Leicester Foxes might as well be our local rivals. The 'Leicester' part doesn't necessarily define the club, what if we weren't a one club city? Both the words are what we are.

I don't want Manish on the FLS or some twat on Sky or Gary on MOTD going: 'our next match is Leicester Foxes in red shirts and white shorts, vs....'

Now who the fvck are they? Not my team.

A shame people are taking the piss really, I'm sure most would be up in arms if Top said that City was a 'lousy identity' and we were to be renamed Leicester Foxes.

Christ, 90% of fans opposed a name change that actually had something to do with our past when we came out of administration.

I wish Hull City fans all the best with this campaign, this to me is more grave than the Cardiff situation.

Such a shame in all. Leicester Fosse sounds class.

Fully behind this but it's too late sadly, as is Cardiff playing in red.

I really do hope King Power leave this kind of thing will alone should we ever get to the top flight.

We have also had a resounding response from Cardiff City fans who know all too well the battle we are facing up to. I place a link to their petition below as they need all the support they can get too. I think these issue transcend club allegiances and it's something we should all stand up against.

Not our business and seem to remember a few cocky Hull fans on here before so will give this a miss.

Best not to let it get to you eastfox. Banter is part and parcel of English Football and I very much down any of it is intended to be taken seriously. If you can't take a few insult and home truths on the chin occasionally then perhaps you've picked the wrong sport.

However, this is serious and something that transcends team loyalties. If what is happening at Cardiff & Hull City is allowed to become the norm then another little part of the game will die. And to be honest there isn't much of it left alive as it is.

Set aside your Hull City prejudice and do it for the good of Leicester City, as who know which club will be next.

I didnt like when marathon changed to snickers. so I stopped eating them.

not

Do you identify with your chocolate bar or do you just eat it because it tastes good?

Do you value its traditions and history or do you only buy it to have a nice snack at lunch?

Please don't equate chocolate bars with football clubs. They're just not the same.

It is literally the only name change I'd accept.

Unique to our club and wholly relevant to the identity of the city.

Agree with you. Would help us stand out a bit more, we've got a number of things that are a bit standard I think - kit, stadium, name, location even. That's not to say I dislike those things but they do mean we might blend in a little.

i meant its just a name. our name has been changed before, our players change all the time, even the ground has changed, when the club was formed, we played somewhere else, were called something else and different people played for us, are we the same club? no but the leicester flavour is still there, and its nutty. like snickers

Apologies to all those who have already read this in the other thread but I was worried it wasn't visible enough.

Feel free to take the piss. After all that is one of the reasons English football fans is the best in the world.

However, just remember. once one domino falls the rest will follow. If the footballing world had idly sat back and shrugged when MK Dons was formed it may have become the norm. As it was it was made know in no uncertain way that it was the sort of thing that should never happen again. This is not just a fight for Hull City A.F.C fans. This is a fight for fans of all British footballs teams. This should not be allowed to become the norm. The fans should have the final say on what their club is called. If this is allowed to happen to Hull City A.F.C then what next? Leicester Foxes? Cardiff Dragons? Watford Hornets?

If you are against the idea of Football teams being turned into nothing more than a business then make a small gesture by joining this group. The more support from other Clubs we get then the stronger the campaign will be. There will be opportunities in the future to contribute in some small way.

Do it for the good of all Football

Thank you for your time.

CITY there's only one City, there's only one City! How true will this be soon? Have signed, but in truth the only way to stop this, is to hit these owners where it hurts in the pocket!

As others have said these owners have no idea what a football club is an the culture behind it as well as its importance to families and the community.

As supporters when faced with this we have to sand up and say no! Don't by any mercendise with the tigers written on it, don't buy anything but your match ticket from the club.... If that doesn't work stop going, pick one game where everyone refuses to go, ideally a game on sky, that way you still get to watch your team but the tiers get shown around the world playing a premier league game to an empty stadium.

I blame every Cardiff supporter who bought a red shirt, thy have set the tone for what owners will expect us all as supporters to take.

Good luck with the campaign, oh and can we sing to you now you got mauled by the tigers?

Spot on.

Not being mauled yet. Due to League rules Allam can not apply to get the name changed till towards the end of the season. Looks like it may be a season long fight on and off the field. Although Allam has agreed to meet with a handful of the steering committee now so lets see what comes of it.

Not exactly winning the 'fight' though are you?

If a meeting has to be arranged with the fans that should be enough indication to him that he shouldn't change the name.

Too early to say. The joint campaign only really started 2 weeks ago.

I wouldn't take advice from Cardiff fans if I were you.

You might as well get Michael Le Vell as your AA counsellor.

Apologies, I meant joint in the sense that the majority of Hull City A.F.C fan groups have come together under one Campaign banner for this. We haven't got a joint Campaign with Cardiff, just a mutual appreciation of each others positions.

The national media coverage of this issue seems to be gaining momentum. There are many clubs in the same boat to varying degrees. Southampton shorn of their stripes. Everton campaigning against their new crest. Newcastle about the naming of the Stadium. And of course Cardiff and Hull City. If it's not nipped in the bud now soon English Football will be stripped of it's history.

Southampton stripped of their history because they don't have white stripes on their kit for one season?! lol

Actually it's been the last two seasons :P
