Kitchandro Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 Disappointing to hear Bruce sticking up for him. He doesn't have to lay into him, but he doesn't have to suck up to him either.
Corky Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 Disappointing to hear Bruce sticking up for him. He doesn't have to lay into him, but he doesn't have to suck up to him either. Bruce is in a difficult position, he understands the tradition but the opposition is his boss who holds all the cards in terms of Bruce's future, transfer funds. Bruce actually seemed to answer it in the best way possible, and should tell Allam to concentrate on the current team and manager rather than choosing fights with supporters over a mystical and unrealistic ideal of a name change and the supposed rewards from it.
Nick Posted 3 December 2013 Posted 3 December 2013 Leicester Foxes anyone? I think it has a nice ring to it. I'll e-mail Top.
ruisliptiger Posted 4 December 2013 Author Posted 4 December 2013 Aye Bruce is in a tricky position. Allam pays his wages and Bruce needs to maintain a good working relationship regards transfer funds e.t.c. I think his recent statements are about as far as he could go without risking the sack. After all that is exactly what happened to Barmby when he was seen to be questioning the integrity of the Board. I.e. Allam. Most supporters seem to understand this and don't wish to drag Bruce or the players into the debate. An a more positive note City Till We Die met with the Premier League Today. A statement has been released and is reproduced below. CTWD today met with officials of the Premier League to discuss our opposition to the current name change proposed by Dr Allam. A positive meeting concluded that: - The heritage of British football clubs is valued by the Premier League as a fundamental element of its brand; - Any material changes to that heritage and brand should be done in consultation with supporters and wider stakeholders in football; and - The Premier League is prepared to approach the Football Association to discuss how these important matters can be protected within the framework of their respective rules. As the organisers of the competition and the gatekeeper of the rules under which the competition is held, the Premier League and Football Association are effectively the regulators of the football industry. The Premier League recognises this role and will emphasise this in their future dealings with Hull City AFC.
ruisliptiger Posted 4 December 2013 Author Posted 4 December 2013 Oh and the response from Leicester fans to the whole sorry mess has been superb. We are receiving support from all over the world of Football, but the scale of messages of support and signatures on the petition from Leicester has been significant. Thank you to all those that have set aside sporting rivalries to show solidarity. Hopefully this will set a precident and be a line in the sand that no owner will be allowed to cross without the backing of the fans.
GingerrrFox Posted 4 December 2013 Posted 4 December 2013 You haven't got a hope in hell of changing his mind. Just look at Cardiff and that's you next season.
marko Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Looks like it's a go. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25341248
Guest MattP Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Lets hope the Hull fans so a bit more courage than Cardiffs.
bovril Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Any chance the FA will say no?? More chance of us signing Berbatov, I'd imagine.
Guest Bilo Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Anybody who puts a penny into the coffers of Hull Tigers is part of the problem in my view. Once it's no longer Hull City, they need to have the cajones to walk out. I'd laugh my balls off if they got relegated (sorry Ruislip) and Allam had to try to sell a deeply unpopular name change against Barnsley and Leyton Orient.
ruisliptiger Posted 11 December 2013 Author Posted 11 December 2013 The FA would have to rewrite their own rules in order for this to go through. Though perhaps you still wouldn't put it past them. Though I understand that there is l8ttle precedent for the Fans winning out in siruations like this, currently all the cards seem to fall our way. They would have to stack the deck... ruisliptiger Posted 11 December 2013 Author Posted 11 December 2013 No worries Bilo. Along with most fans wgo can see beyond the short term, relegation is not really a problem. The Soul of the club is more important than which division we play in. The Premiership is a cuvtfest anyway. Sent from my GT-I9295 using Tapatalk

Walker Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Can't understand why they still seem to be pretty much selling out each week though. I'd like to think us Leicester fans would vote with our feet and not turn up at all should we be put in such a position.
ruisliptiger Posted 11 December 2013 Author Posted 11 December 2013 If we voted with our feet then how are we supposed to mount a visible protest? I'm sure IF, and that's a big if. The name change happens, then people will vote with their feet. Having spoken with many, many fans this will happen. There will be no hiding that fact when our crowds are 10,000 down next year. I have every confidence though that the name change will not happen. Even highly regarded marketing experts are now chipping in to say that Allams theory is garbage. There are only so many holes that a dam, even of Assam Allams scale can cope with. The only people showing support for a change are the sort of people who choose what political party to support based on who their parent voted for.
Walker Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Understand what you're saying but wouldn't empty seats be more effective?
ruisliptiger Posted 11 December 2013 Author Posted 11 December 2013 No. We are fighting a Propaganda war as much as anything. By staying away it only give Allam a multitude of way of spinning the situation in his favour.
Maybes Posted 12 December 2013 Posted 12 December 2013 No. We are fighting a Propaganda war as much as anything. By staying away it only give Allam a multitude of way of spinning the situation in his favour. How? Fans not turning up to games would clearly portray the fact that you don't want a name change. Surely he's not that much of a fvckwit that he'd change the name and have attendances of 5k per week? Or maybe he is?
Walker Posted 12 December 2013 Posted 12 December 2013 No. We are fighting a Propaganda war as much as anything. By staying away it only give Allam a multitude of way of spinning the situation in his favour. Hmmmm, but surely he invested in your club due to the potential of 25k + turning out each week? If the revenue from match day fans falls significantly surely the name change wouldn't go ahead..

If you want him to stop stay away, still putting money in his pocket while he does this to you is just going to make him laugh even more.
GingerrrFox Posted 12 December 2013 Posted 12 December 2013 For some reason Hull think they will be different to Cardiff and will be spared and they can keep going to games, keep chanting and making banners but in reality it's gonna do **** all. He's changing it and there isn't a single thing you can do about it. It's his business and he can call it what he wants.
Harry - LCFC Posted 12 December 2013 Posted 12 December 2013 For some reason Hull think they will be different to Cardiff and will be spared and they can keep going to games, keep chanting and making banners but in reality it's gonna do **** all. He's changing it and there isn't a single thing you can do about it. It's his business and he can call it what he wants. I found myself rather annoyed reading that but it's the comment "it's his business and he can call it what he wants" that has really got me. As if the owner of the club has the right to do whatever he wants with. I hope you understand what this implies... If that is your view I don't expect to hear a word of complaint if an owner of ours were to ever mould "his property" as he sees fit. No complaint if he give us a a pink and green kit, no complaint if he sells our best players for profit (it's been done before) and no complaint if he makes us play at Abbey Park. After all, the club's his property as you pointed out. He can do what he wants with it. I take it you wouldn't be happy with any of that but your defence of the owner's property rights implies that you'd be in the wrong to speak out against it.
ozleicester Posted 12 December 2013 Posted 12 December 2013 But what is the answer, stay away and effectivley lose your club because you are no longer a part of it, or continue to go along and lose your clubs name? As stated above, clubs are now owned and the owner has the right to pretty much do as they please. We can be unhappy, protest, not go, start alternative clubs picket offices etc etc, but none of these actions (or any others i can think of) will change the fact that the owner has the power to choose. We as fans are a captive market, especially those "non Plastic" fans, they/we are the biggest problem of all, they/we will pay stupid ticket prices, they/we will pay stupid amounts for poor quality replica shirts, they/we will sing for mercenary players and coaches, they/we will turn up to Stoke on a cold tuesday night, they/we will pay to be supplied with a crappy 1990s club website. etc etc etc. In short, we are suckers and Leicester City owns us.
