Dan Posted 2 October 2013 Posted 2 October 2013 Layton Ndukwu Victory shield. Believe you me this boy can play. Holy shit. Sounds like immense FLAIR potential.
Ric Flair Posted 2 October 2013 Posted 2 October 2013 Layton Ndukwu Victory shield. Believe you me this boy can play. Is this the lad who the academy have been trying to keep under wraps for a while as he's meant to be mustard? There was a lad who must be about 15/16 who the coaches don't want to get carried away with but the signs are he's going to be a superstar? Is it him? Scored twice and set two up in a practice match this week for England.
Dan Posted 2 October 2013 Posted 2 October 2013 Don't do this to us To be honest though keeping it low profile is without a doubt the best thing we could do. Over-hyping him would only lead to Chelsea or Man City poaching him for a meagre fee before he rots in their ressies.

I'm not sure who it is, there's one young lad who is supposedly ridiculous but when they're only 15-16 there's still so much to do before they can be sure they'll be the real deal.
ealingfox Posted 2 October 2013 Posted 2 October 2013 An £85 million player sale would certainly sort out any lingering FFP worries.
Guest MattP Posted 2 October 2013 Posted 2 October 2013 Tell me this guy is actually English and not a Zaha/Sterling type who will play for us despite not having a spec of English blood in the family.

Hope to god we make the most of it. Nothing worse than completely pissing away talent, something we're experts at in England.

1972 Fox Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 My Son was fortunate enough to play in the same Oadby Owls team as Layton Ndukwu for 3 seasons before Layton was taken on by the LCFC academy at the age of 9. It was obvious from a very early age that he was an exceptional footballer. When he started he was playing in the age group that was a year up from his proper age group but he was still the best player on the pitch almost every week. As an attacking left sided player he had skill, pace, strength and two good feet. He scored goals with his left foot, with his right foot and with his head. Layton only turned 15 last month but has continued to develop his game to a very high standard at the Leicester City Academy and is still playing one or sometimes two years above his own age group. He has now been rewarded with a call up to the England u16’s squad for the Victory Shield Home International matches versus Wales, Northern Ireland & Scotland. The first match for England is against Wales at Kidderminster Harriers tomorrow night (4th October) and it is is being shown live on Sky Sports (7:30pm KO). It is still too early to say how far Layton could go in the game or with Leicester City, but believe me when I say this boy has huge potential and it would be brilliant to see him make the breakthrough to the Leicester first team in the next 2 to 3 years. Good luck Layton, I'll be watching on TV tomorrow and cheering you on. I'm sure that you’ll make Oadby Owls, Leicester City & England proud!
Dan Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 I've been curious about this lad ever since... well, yesterday when I first heard of him. I'd love to see us keep him and develop him here for years but the reality is if he's any good we'll inevitably lose him to Chelsea/Man Utd and we'll see under £2mil of it.

Correct unfortunately, if he was THAT good he'd probably be there already with the scouting networks of this day and age. Very few slip through the net. That said, I remember a thread on here from 4-5 years ago saying we had a young lad called George Taft at 15-16 that was "an absolute certainly for World Cup 2014 for England" Best youngster we have had since Lineker.

Who the hell said that? It's impossible to say at this age but I don't remember hype like this. A lot of it is attitude though. Hyping him up now would be the complete wrong thing to do at his age - he's very vulnerable to thinking he's 'made it' at that kind of age. Only time will tell anyway but best of luck to him.
