OriginalRobboFOX Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 If by some crazy stroke of luck he turns down Belgium (which I'm actually led to believe he will) would you pick him for England if he desires to be picked???
Uncle Albert Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 I doubt very much he will wait 3 years to play International football mate and even if he did wait I wouldn't select him, no.
bovril Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 If anything, he'll choose to play for Bosnia Thought he qualified for England, Belgium, Albania, Serbia (disputed) and Turkey (through his grandparents). Ahh the Balkans!
lavrentis Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 Reiterates how the FIFA international rules are so dodgy
Finnegan Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 If anything, he'll choose to play for Bosnia ... why Bosnia?
eye666 Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 He's played one gane... Let's see how he performs over the season before jizzing over another wonderkid. Aside from that, he's not English - call me old fashioned, but I think our national team should be made up of English nationals. Waiting for the PC brigade to follow up...

I don't see what PC has got to do with it unless you're going to go all Nick Griffin and say black and asian people aren't British/English. I don't even like English-born players with Welsh grandmothers playing for Wales, you should be from the country you're representing - not just a resident. Agree with that totally. I don't object to people like Earnshaw, born in Zambia, moved here when he was a kid and was raised in Wales. That's a bit different but Januzaj has been here a couple of years, not almost his entire life.

Agree with your post - the kid moved over here when he was 16 (I think), and neither parents are English (nor any of his family...?). Just because he's lived here for a few years doesn't mean he should play for England.
SystonFox Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 i dont think he's even THAT good. it's only cos his name begins and starts with a J, pronounced as a Y and that he will be pub quiz gold in a few years that he is getting rave reviews. Zsolt Lackzo yeah i went and said it
ADK Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 If he qualifies for England then why not? Not like other countries never do it.
Leicesterpool Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 He'll go to Germany! i'm sad to say England have nothing to offer him!
Bryn Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 If he becomes a British citizen he has the right to represent us.
Finnegan Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 He'll go to Germany! i'm sad to say England have nothing to offer him! That would be pretty impressive, given he isn't German and isn't eligible. He's expressed a desire to play for Albania, he's probably weighing that up against the prospect of never playing in a major tournament.
Mack Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 One decent match and all of a sudden he is a must have for England. He might turn out to be another Luke Chadwick etc...
stevelcfc Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 Hope he chooses Belgium, have no interest in international football but their team will be immense in a few years.
SystonFox Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 Hope he chooses Belgium, have no interest in international football but their team will be immense in a few years. They've already won the World Cup 2014
Father Ted Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 ... why Bosnia? Hmm.. pretty sure I read at the back end of last season that he was of Bosnian descent. Now Wiki and tabloids are saying of Albanian descent. My bad.

Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 Shouldn't wear the shirt. Not English. This.
MPH Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 This kind of thing has been going on for years... wasn't Terry butcher born in Singapore?.. owen Hargreaves was born in canada and wasn't john barnes born in Jamaica? Cant Help but think the problem here is that his name doesn't SOUND english ( for some people)
ozleicester Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 What is "English"... is it, Mum and Dad Born there? Conceived there? - lets be honest if conception is the start of life (not trying to start an abortion discussion) then a couple of french kids ****ing on a weekend break can conceive the next Bobby Moore. Born there? - I had a friend in the forces who had a child when stationed in Germany and Italy - are those kids Germans..Italians? Bred there? - My family moved here when i was 7, I grew up in OZ, am i Australian? (also applies if your parents move you to Nottingham etc) Live there? - I earn my living, pay my tax and work for my community in OZ... am i Australian? the current FIFA rules arent perfect, but they cant be, especially in the modern era.
