You don't know what country Glasgow and Edinburgh are in, then 2 of you think population is a geography subject. Is it idiot week ? That's it for me. Much as I agree with you re Pearson, I totally condemn your language and disgusting attitude towards those who don't agree with us. I know that I often want to pull my hair out over much of the pro Pearson rubbish that is spouted out on here, but I don't wish to be associated with the rhetoric that you are slinging around of late.
hackneyfox Posted 17 October 2013 Posted 17 October 2013 Babs, DT, Harry Go back through this thread and see where the abuse first started, it wasn't from bnet he was on the receiving end of it. Cityfanlee The latest official census figures are from 2011, take out the Scottish teams and we are 8th, I linked it for you above. Again http://www.lovemytown.co.uk/Populations/TownsTable1.asp I'm not expecting us to be 8th let alone 2nd in the premier, I just want to be there, thankfully we haven't been as bad as Leeds who are 7th and Ist
Dan Posted 17 October 2013 Posted 17 October 2013 This points-scoring has got to stop. Utterly pointless debate - who gives two fvcks if we're 8th, 12th, 3945th, it doesn't work that way.

I don't rate Pearson but would say so far so good this season, he has his faults, and has the potential to **** it up again, but for now lets all enjoy the moment, and no matter what population we have, we will deserve to finish wherever we finish, wether that's 1st or last in the league. Then come the summer we can debate wether he deserves a new contract, or wether he should be let go. I really think it's time this thread and those very similar need to be closed, as all they do is go over old ground and decends into personal insults.

They certainly do, I've hardly been on here for 2 weeks, I knew this pointless slanging match was going to start again. It's utterly ridiculous

Leicester_Numan Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 Let's stop discussing it then What do you think of NIGE? Would you offer him a contract if we are still championship next season? Depends how close we come to getting promoted. If we lost to a dodgy penalty in the play off final for instance, I probably would but at less money than he's on now.Failure to at least make the play offs and no I wouldn't. He'll have had his time, done a very good job but not done quite enough for a new contract

He'll have had his time, done a very good job but not done quite enough for a new contract I think for example if he did leave, The new manager, would only need team management skills, as I think he would leave behind a VERY good job, A platform, A structure if you like, That would see minor tweaks to get us where we need to be, This is do or die for him and he knows it I think, Do you know what hes earning roughly? I dont have a clue but must be 20k pw?

Of course, we don't know this for sure and £20000 a week doesn't sound too bad in football terms but if FFP doesn't get revoked or changed in some way, we have to cut costs if we remain in this division and that includes the managers contract.

The only problem is, If he went, Who would be available who would not demand more?? Just as an example if 3/4 of the people on this forums dreams came true and RDM came down the road... He would want 30k minimum surely? Which means taking the risk on another unknown manager?

Who would replace him is indeed the big problem. I've said all along that there is no better unemployed manager at this point and we should keep him as sacking him would involve paying him compensation and paying another club compensation to poach their manager and we simply can't afford to do that under FFP.If we were to dispense with his services, it has to be at the end of the season when it won't cost a penny. By then, there may be some better prospects available. That's of course, if we stay in this division. The other debate is, if we are promoted, are we confident enough that he'd be a good premiership manager to give him a new contract?
Guest MattP Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 How the hell has Di Matteo got away with being a saught after manager? A couple of ok jobs before being sacked and then somehow managed to fluke his way to a Champions League win after watching his team get absolutely played off the pitch in virtually every match in the knockout stages before being rescued by a moment of brilliance everytime by someone.

This. Ask any WBA fan what they think of him, they'll tell you he was useless. It's just because he's foreign and was a good player. People think he'd be a good Manager. He wouldn't

Agree about Di Matteo. I do find the argument about Chelsea winning the champions league a bit annoying. Nobody flukes winning it, they recognised that player for player they couldn't compete with barca or bayern so played a system that gave them the best chance to win. Yeah there were moments of individual brilliance (Ramires v barca in particular) but I think they should get far more credit for an unbelievable achievement. Just my opinion
Dan Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 Don't get me wrong you can never take it from him as an achievement but what actually happened will never happen again. I have never in my life seen such a lucky run and I don't think I'll ever see one again. I'm surprised WBA fans aren't keen - did he not take them up? Corky Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 He did, but Hodgson and Clarke have taken them further.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 So did we decide if we are tin pot or Massive ?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 I think many people on here are belittling L1, ask Leeds, Man City, Forest etc, how easy it is to get out 1st time round. He did the job required. Whilst I agree he fell short last season, I think the 1st time round play-offs was a bonus, 2nd time the wheels well and truly fell off what should have been promotion drive. It would have been interesting to see what he could have done with all the money sven spunked up the wall. I'd also like to know what you think the problem with young fans seeing Pearson as a relative success, is. I have more of a problem with the age group that grew up thinking Leicester are a top 10 side and win cups, that is what the O'neill generation grew up with, let's be honest, us being back in the top flight had been a long time coming (under little) and then o'neill, we had had some real dross before that and apart from the odd season of success, we have always been a yo-yo club. I'm not saying pearson can't do more and I hope/expect that he will and once in the top flight I think we may have another O'neill style period, but MON raised the bar and expectations for a whole generation that didn't know David Pleat. Agree with this despite me growing up under MON. We were a small club (and still are) punching above our weight at the time under MON Football clubs like everything else in life go in cycles. Liverpool used to dominate, now Man Utd do, Christ even Forest were half decent once! We had our 15mins of fame and did well out of it under MON. Now we're just exactly the same as perhaps 30 other clubs (many of whom had much much more success in the past than we've ever had) We're no different to Southampton or Sheffield United and any number of clubs in between, it's just that it's currently Southampton's/Swansea's time to shine.

Mike Oxlong Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 Heaven forbid we don't win by 6 tomorrow otherwise we'll really see the woodworm oozing out of the woodwork.

Mike Oxlong Posted 18 October 2013 Posted 18 October 2013 We're allowed an opinion aren't we? If we win by 6 tomorrow? Of course you are but considering we won by 5 against them at home last season a failure to better that would surely mean that "Coco" (as he's affectionately known on Bentley's) would be fully deserving of the sack ..... surely?
