Orkneyfox Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 I find it really offensive when other nations refer to us as ' good queuers ' Just because we know how to queue properly and take pride in it, I find it direspectful that we're only judged and associated by that. I think people will be lining up to agree with you....
Rincewind Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 Anyway what had the fact that he was having his house done up to do with football? Apart from the builders may be Poland supporters it was irrelevant. It was the sneering manner that he appeared to present that may have been interpreted as offensive but I never noticed it as I do not listen too carefully to what presenters and pundits say. If someone had said it in a pub the remark would have been laughed off and forgotten.
chrishlcfc Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 Can't believe how much the race card get's played these days.
Rincewind Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 I think I saw something similar to that Stephen Fry quote in his autobiography that I have just started to read.
Guest MattP Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 I think I saw something similar to that Stephen Fry quote in his autobiography that I have just started to read. That's an amazing coincidence.
Guest MattP Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 On the point in question I haven't seen or read it and I don't know the facts but its clearly racist and I'll be outraged if he doesn't get jailed.
Strokes Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 The Polish are quite cultural, they almost certainly don't have homophobic issues like ours. I wonder if its because its easier to know if a pole is straight or not?

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 Rubbish. Nothing whatever racist in his comments.
Mack Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 A pathetic non story in an attempt to get someone into trouble to fuel a media story and sell papers, gets Facebook likes... retweets etc etc etc. I cant stand the bloke and he is an awful presenter but what he said was not racist in the slightest. By all means sack him for being shit at his job but not this.
AdamN Posted 14 October 2013 Posted 14 October 2013 Perhaps we should test him by making him read out the entire Polish squad against England. If he gets any pronunciations wrong then he's clearly a fat, useless racist and must be fired at once. Apply the same rules to Roy Keane and Andy Townsend if necessary.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 There are some six hundred thousand eastern Europeans in our country, who live on benefit, according to the latest statistics. Some daft people will be inclined to call that racist, rather than factual. Too many people are becoming paranoid about racism, in circumstances where it doesn't exist, like the oink who started this thread.

Funny when I went back to King's Lynn (immigration central, apparently) this summer I hardly saw any Eastern Europeans. Town centre was packed full of chavs as usual but I didn't hear any Polish or Lithuanian. They must've been at work.

Nice to read that there is “little evidence†that EU citizens came to Britain to collect state benefits – and the practice known as “benefit tourism†was largely a myth. But no doubt some won't agree or like that part of the report.

Biggest offence to me since Bongo Bongo land
Out Foxed Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/oct/15/england-poland-wembley-adrian-chiles Polish football fans in England: 'Nobody's upset about Adrian Chiles'Four Polish football fans who live in England talk about Poland's game against England at Wembley on Tuesday night, their divided loyalties … and Adrian Chiles

I've always thought of that part of the country being 100% inbred white.
bovril Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Since when has Kings Lynn been immigration central? I've always thought of that part of the country being 100% inbred white. I'm always reading that Lynn and nearby towns are full of Eastern Europeans and Chnese and how it's completely changed the town but I barely notice much difference in the area from 10 years ago. I think the fact that you imagine it as immigrant free and others as completely overrun show that opinion has as much to do with perception as fact or first hand experiences.
yorkie1999 Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Nice to read that there is “little evidence†that EU citizens came to Britain to collect state benefits – and the practice known as “benefit tourism†was largely a myth. But no doubt some won't agree or like that part of the report. EU citizens don't come here to claim state benefits, they come here to get a job earning minimum wage which then means they can claim child benefit for children they have living within the EU. But the child benefits are paid at our rates, which is equivalent to a full time nurses wage in countries like Poland.

Get paid, and get pissed, seems to be the rule round here.
