Adrian Chiles racist comments

I think that's the idea. 'Builders' are stereotyped as being a bit rough and thick. So if you're offended by Chiles comments what you're really saying is "I believe all builders are thick cvnts and by saying lots of a polish people become builders you are implying that lots of Polish people are thick cvnts", which is itself of course a lot more offensive towards builders than Chiles comments were towards Poles.

The further irony being that most skilled tradesman in construction are of far higher societal value and earn a shed load more money than your average liberal arts graduate working as a starbucks barista or pointless marketing department pen pusher who complain about this sort of thing will ever earn.

Just another example of the 'social justice warriors' getting themselves in a bit of a mess.

Exactly.

I work in the trade and i'm not being bias or being a WUM or starting a education v 'real world' argument but I honestly believe people in the trade understand real life, proper 'banter' (Although I hate that word), and above all else they have common sense - You can't teach common sense.

People who aren't 'educated', who don't gain decent results in school or exams might not be the brightest at certain subjects, but atleast they have common sense and life experience - something I believe some 'clever' students don't have. Maybe I am being a WUM and I don't know it, maybe I am being prejudice, maybe I have got a chip on my shoulder and I don't know it, and i'm not saying all people students and educated people are like that likewise i'm not saying all uneducated people have common sense, e.t.c

But in essence like you say I bet it is your educated post grad/student/pen pusher that complains about this kind of shit. (I should have left it at that 1 sentence and I know that - Cos I fear/kinda know i'm gonna have upset people by saying what i've said and probably get a barrel of abuse for it now)

I bet most/if not all Poles havn't had a problem with what Chiles said.

I don't see what's wrong with what he said, Polish builders do a great job, they're reliable and he could have given polish builders good publicity.

Hmmm, they did do a great job, they were reliable, when the first influx of Poles coming over, they were very good, but like I said working in the trade I see things first hand (As you may do - I don't know what you do) and they haven't got the same workrate and reliaility the initial influx of Polish workers had.

Again I can't just making sweeping statements like that saying it about all Polish workers but on a general view that I see with Poles that come and go I have gained that opinion, I'm sure there are still many Poles who do do a good job and are reliable, but imo they're not as much so as they used to be a few years ago, perhaps because they've learnt from some English counterparts :dunno:

I'm annoyed at how many people keep using polish when it should be Polish .Think of the confusion it could cause . Like when paediatricians were being mistaken for paedophiles.

Mr Muscle could be targeted !!

I think people need to get over it, i've heard much worse and i don't think any Poles are complaining it's mainly some do gooding brit. I agree it was really unprofessional of him but i don't think his comments are worth getting him the sack.

What...is...it...with...ITV presenters....and...adding...random pauses...mid-sentence?

Pougatch does it even more.

This is no different to if he made an Indian-Corner shop joke or a Finners/Welsh-Sheep joke.

I suppose any excuse to rid that scrotum off of our TVs will be exploited.

and you can pay them less....

and you can pay them less....

Hmmm that's another thing I was going to touch on in my post but decided against it, but seeing as you've bought it up.

They want as much as English people now, which don't get me wrong if an English person is getting X amount why shouldn't they?

However if this is the case - Why not employ more English people before employing Poles? :dunno:

Don't get me wrong I could understand employers employing Polish people over English people when they worked harder, were more reliable and paid less, if I were an employer it'd be a no brainer, I'd do it, but like I touched on in my above post and now they want more money you could argue why not employ people from your own country before Poles.

Anyway, I feel I am getting myself into a different discussion and going away from this threads discussion.

If you were offended by Adrian Chiles' remarks, you really are taking life far too seriously and probably struggle with day-to-day interaction.

I don't see how anybody could see that as particularly offensive, leave alone the Daily Mail. That paper taking the moral high ground on racial issues is absolutely laughable.

The Daily Mail? It's never bothered them before. Seems like some of their readership has had enough of their blame policy and decided to tread carefully for a while to divert attention. :)

Of course I'm joking.

Why did no-one complain about how many times they all kept saying "munter negro"?

Much more offensive!

1. Polish isn't a race.

2. I bet you not one single Polish person found that offensive. Not one.

3. Some of you are so pathetically PC it's laughable.

Chiles is a willy puller of course, but get the **** over yourselves please. No one can say anything in this country anymore because of pathetic do gooders like you lot. You're probably all only so sensitive to anything that might be construed as racist because you have the odd racist thought yourselves, which you instantly repress with guilt and judging other people on everything they say.

EDIT: Having bothered to read the thread I see almost no one thought this was offensive. I'll shut up now lol.

I find it really offensive when other nations refer to us as ' good queuers '

Just because we know how to queue properly and take pride in it, I find it direspectful that we're only judged and associated by that.

I find it funny how many people slag newspapers off and then stereotype readers. Its great.
