Rumours, Rumours, Rumours

There are unconfirmed rumours doing the rounds amongst some City supporters, we understand, that Hinckley United's Leicester Road stadium could be a potential site for SISU to have their new stadium.

Coventry City CEO Tim Fisher has said at meetings with supporters that he has been talking to council's outside the City boundary, who would welcome the Sky Blues with open arms.

The now empty ground, which has plenty of land ripe for development around it, is around ten miles from the city of Coventry boundary.

According to an article by Karen Hambridge of the Hinckley Times on November 7th, the Leicester Road ground is attracting interest but the Chief Liquidator dealing with Hinckley United FC, was refusing to say who is interested in the stadium at which Coventry City U21's are still due to play two matches in 2014 againstSheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest. according to the club website.http://www.ccfc.co.uk/team/reserves/

I cant see it myself.  Granted yes, Im still surprised they didnt decide to play home games there instead of going all the way to Northampton, but my guess is that they expected the attendances to not be as low as they are so didn't want to restrict themselves to Hinckley.

But either way, a permanent solution Hinckley is not.  If Coventry went with this I see (and rightly so) their fans being even more pissed off with it.  Even with some development of the ground and area surrounding it, its in no way big enough or in a great location to house League one (and possibly Championship football at the rate Cov are going.)

stupid, why would the fans be happy to travel to hinckley to watch their side?

Might as well stop at northampton, Hinckley isn't a solution.

Northampton was picked due to the direct transport links from Coventry, too. I'm not sure they've ever tried walking from Hinckley station to De Montfort Park.

Can you imagine having to segregate De Montfort Park for a Coventry v Leicester match? I'd love to think they'd give us the end terrace, but it seems completely unworkable on the face of it.

We'd have 2 teams in the county, we might even lose a few fair weather supporters to them. Got to be honest the thought doesn't really bother me.

If we are losing supporters to Coventry City, being one of the dullest teams in terms of league finishes in 40 years, then we should give up ;)
