F****** want Lloyd Dyer

But who of our current squad is seriously capable of playing in the premier?

Not many of them for me, Kasper, Knocky, James, Drinkwater?

Team spirit does count for a lot but getting hammered every week would soon ruin it.

Blimey, discussing Premier football in December.

I'm sure fans of Cardiff, Southampton etc.said the same about many of their players when they were promoted. The gap might not be as big as we think.

We should buy like 20 new players if we get promoted, it really helped Palace.

Lloyd's pace is such an asset, and even in the prem there wouldn't be many defenders that would be able to keep up with him, of course if we could get better at a reasonable price then we should, but he wouldn't be the first I'd replace and I can guarantee if we do go up he will get a fair amount of game time, and he deserves it as one of our top performers this season.

They don't have to keep up with him, he hasn't got a footballing brain, most premier defenders would deal with him very easily.

The quality, not quantity, of the players you buy is the important thing, that and them being able to play as a team.

Of our current squad who would you not buy a replacement for?

Is Dyer one of them?

I have no idea, there are plenty of players that are regulars in the premier who you probably wouldn't have thought they would be. Some adapt, some don't... it's not always the ones that you think will that do.

Alex Bruce was in the team that beat Liverpool... and the list goes on.

That's a very hard question to answer, I don't know tbh.

I think I'd be quite happy to have Schmeichel, Morgan, Drinkwater, Knockaert, Nugent and probably Wood and Vardy all in the first team. There are others who I'm unsure about - would Wasilewski and Konchesky be able to keep going out their age? James and Moore would get up to standard in time I think if not straight away.

I for one wouldn't like to see a totally new team. You have to give the lads that got up there in the first place a chance. If they are found wanting replace them. A few Nigel Pearson signings but of a higher caliber and stability is the key. Building slowly. Ripping the guts out the team with a totally new wage structure and players who never played with each other before is not a proven method and after you go down you need to get rid of these 'premiership' quality players. You want people who will fight for the club every game. Not another mercenary who will leave at the end of the transfer window if things are not 100% to their liking. Of course some players are not good enough but if they are good enough to get there at least give them a chance to see if they are good enough.

Anyway way too early in the season to talk about the prem!

Having a young team surely would only work in our favour regarding potential Promotion to the Championship would rather have our team now than the Micky Adams old boys club we had last time we were promoted not that he had much choice.

If Grant Holt can be a relative success in the Premier League we don't need any new players at all

No Dyer then?

I don't see Morgan making the grade and I don't think Nugent has a hope in hell.

Konchesky wasn't that great last time he was there, he's now older, wiser perhaps but slower.

I don't see Wood or Vardy as being Premier players either.

The problem for me is that if you don't buy at least one replacement centre half then we could get overrun.

Who would have thought Lambert would be playing for England at 31 when he was playing at Bristol Rovers 4 years ago? The players have to be given an opportunity should we get there to see if they can perform. Ofcourse with a few added pieces of quality rather than just replacing the entire squad (ala QPR, Palace.) In both games against Man city a few years back he caused their defence trouble, so he would certainly not be the first to be replaced.

We might as well not go up then.

How can it be that we need to ship in a new squad but all those clubs listed did not? Are we just an anomaly - Will be one of the worst promotion winning sides (presumptuous, I know) in history? Seriously, why should we be considered so much worse than Cardiff if we win promotion in a league that is no easier than the one they won?

Are Gunnarsson, Marshall, Turner and Whittingham so much better than our players?

Quite right. I'd also say that if promoted, the quality of the competition could make the players better - they'd have to learn quicker, and they'd be fighting to retain starting positions as we'd naturally have to buy in a few pricier players. All of our playing squad have a great work ethic, so wouldn't roll over when threatened

Personally, if we were promoted and if Dyer was still with us next season and playing as he is now, I think he'd still be an effective impact sub in some games - his pace alone often causes headaches and he seems to be smarter and more alert on the attack now (hence his impressive goals/assists stats)

Wasilewski and Konch are said to be two of the fittest members of the squad.

Of course we should go up, I just believe we'd need to bring in 8 players with Premier experience.

Can always bring in more later if they are needed.

I'm perhaps being a bit harsh if the players continue to improve as they have over the last few weeks then perhaps not so many changes will be needed but I seriously don't see Dyer in The Premier.

It's a fair bid to be honest when you consider his age and contract situation. That said no way in a million years would I take it considering Lloyds form at the minute.

If anyone wanted Lloyd they should have bif for him under Sven, he would have let him go for nothing.

People think of the premier and imagine the players against the likes of Chelsea and Man U. We only need to be the fourth worst team in the league to survive (and lets face it that's what the first year would be about).  So all that means is being better than the other two promoted clubs and one other team.

Anyway... can't believe I'm even talking about this. Guaranteed loss tonight!

Nope, if you surround those players with 3/4 genuine quality signings you won't need to sign too many. Palace have showed what happens when you try and change a whole squad.

This we aren't competing with Rooney, RVP etc. We shouldn't compare our squad to the big teams in the league. Some of the teams that got relegated managed to keep most of their premiership players and they aren't a class above with the exception of QPR on their day. Give them a chance and bring in quality in a few key positions and change when required.

Not read all of this but upshot in the sun all he wants to do is sort out his future.

Said it b4 our owners are playing a dangerous game. Nuff said

I'd keep him as a squad player but be realistic, this is the best he's ever played for us bit the step up to the premier would be far roo much for him.

He did alright against Real Madrid...

Just saying...
