davieG Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 I've just watched the Stoke winner against Chelsea were he takes off his shirt and throws it to the ground, isn't this insulting to the club and puts out a message that was for me not the club. As it also gets you a booking it's pretty stupid and totally unoriginal. Ok i understand the euphoria behind it especially a winning goal against a more favoured team but surely there's better options and no not kissing the badge by some here today gone tomorrow type player.
Vacamion Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 "I lost control, I couldn't help take my shirt off. I was so excited, I didn't think" By the logic that anything goes when you are euphoric, would it be OK to remove your shorts and underwear in the heat of a goal celebration? Players should continue to get booked. Clubs should dock wages. Managers should criticize.
AndWhat? Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 I don't think they realise what their doing when they score! I hate that yellow card for over celebrating rule, how can you over celebrate??? As long as your celebration doesn't involve slapping the opposition goal keeper do what you want!
purpleronnie Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 I don't understand it either seems an odd thing to do but none of us have been in that situation, but it does look lame.
Finnegan Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 I think the players and coaches around the sort of person who feels the need to whip their shirt off when they score need to have a word, frankly. But I also don't think it should be a bookable offence, especially given the widespread belief that it's only a bookable offence to protect sponsors. I can understand why diving into the fans is but even then I think referees should have the power to use a little common sense.
Soar Fox Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 If i had a physique like this I'd take my shirt off.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 I don't really get the issue people have with players doing this. Was Moore out of order for booting that sponsor board? Was Giggs a type of player for Man Utd who disrespected the club? People moan about players lacking in passion, I think its great long may it continue.
Fox92 Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 Scoring a goal in front of thousands of fans must be one of the greatest feelings ever. And the goal was a last minute winner to beat one of the better teams in the division, I've got no problem when players do it. They're probably 'in the zone' and too elated to really care.
Stadt Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 I don't see the problem with it, it's not like he took his shirt off and wiped his arse with it.
Poznan34 Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 Not a problem, shows a bit of passion. Shouldn't be booked.
Vacamion Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 WIth my best Puritan hat on, THIS is where untrammelled undressing as a celebration leads....

I think the point is why, when experiencing one of the greatest feelings ever, in front of thousands of fans, in the last minute, against one of the best teams in the division, would your initial reaction to be to start taking your clothes off?

davieG Posted 8 December 2013 Author Posted 8 December 2013 Its hard to say, we've never been in that situation. I always take my socks off in celebration after I've climaxed.
purpleronnie Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 I always take my socks off in celebration after I've climaxed. Into the sock
davieG Posted 8 December 2013 Author Posted 8 December 2013 Into the sock If I'm desperate, a silk stocking's the preferred option.
purpleronnie Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 If I'm desperate, a silk stocking's the preferred option. kinky.
davieG Posted 8 December 2013 Author Posted 8 December 2013 kinky. No I like the seam to be straight.
Dan Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 If it's really bookable to 'protect sponsors' then that's pretty much everything wrong with football in one very minor incident.
Kitchandro Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 It's the most ridiculous bookable offence in the bloody sport, just above celebrating with the crowd. It's hardly disrespectful, it's just passionate. I'd probably do it too if I scored a last minute winner.

Well, apparently, and I was out with a knee injury so I missed it, one of the lads who I play on a Saturday with celebrated by dropping his shorts and showing the opposing teams defense his bright green boxer shorts on Saturday. Which is now how I think every goal should be celebrated, even though he obviously got booked for it.
