Any bloke who can get Barton sent off is a City legend in my eyes.

GTF is officially player of the season!

lol

He had a positive impact when he came on, he's doing the job he's paid to do (i.e. an impact sub in his twilight days) unlike other players who are completely anonymous when they come on. Worth having our squad IMO

He does a job to see a game out. Growing to like him.

Unfortunately many don't see it like that :(.

I totally agree though. Did the same vs Watford and set up a goal in that game.

the same mugs that were hammering Jamie Vardy on here...last season

they were totally convinced , he could never improve or score at this level ,

I've given him some stick this season but he was quality when he came on today. Sorry GTF about me criticising you, if you play like you did today in most matches then I will admit I was in the wrong.

Similar to Nugent's one season in the Premier League where he scored 6 Premier League goals in 33 matches with a strike rate of 1 in 5.5 games...

Do I need to actually type out the obvious response to this or are you just going to concede you're talking rubbish.

He's a symptom of our tiny squad ..... given better options in the squad for the front pairing then he wouldn't get near to the team .....

If we're going to push on and get automatic then we need a striker in Jan that is a proper first team striker - someone that's better than Nugent / Vardy .... Then we can forget GTF ..... for me he may have been a good player once but he's too immobile now.

Did well today but that's the sort of situation he is needed in when we are winning by a slim margin, can't imagine him ever scoring for us.

Like he'd fit into a slim margin. Bloke looks at least 20 stone.

Still, he's a tidy player - not a goalscorer, but that's not what he was signed for.

This is a typical Foxestalk overreaction to a win. GTF did fine when he came on - a couple of decent through balls, a strong tackle - but he had no key part to play in the victory whatsoever, in fact we were weakened by the substitution. When he came on we greatly missed Vardy's work-rate and it was backs against the wall stuff for the final ten. Even Pearson said he was unhappy with the way we saw out the game. Now GTF wasn't to blame for that, in fact he put in a respectable shift, but he also looked cumbersome and lacked the mobility to do much closing down. So please; if people want the opportunity to gloat about the fact that they 'always said he was a class act', then at least have the decency to wait until he plays a significant role in a match (or, preferably, a string of matches).

As for 'it's like Vardy all over again': Vardy was poor last season. He showed glimpses of promise early on but was rightly dropped for the second half of the campaign. On the few occasions we did see him he managed to give a penalty away against Boro and failed to track his man for the winner against Cardiff. He deserved his criticism. But no, criticising a 26 year old who is playing his first season at a much higher level is not the same as criticising or, rather, not wetting myself at the sheer majestic flair of an overweight 33 year old who has been playing at this level for years.

Its not funny , Vards was deeply offended by some treatment dished out by certain fans ,

True

The goal at Cardiff was solely Sean St ledger's fault.

"He's not mobile enough (and for some reason we seem to be struggling to get him in better shape in the gym)."

The doorway to the training ground gym is fairly narrow which could be the problem
