Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 I remember when Scowcroft used to do a job on the wing. Nicky Summerbee in that promotion season also served his purpose.
Donut Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Didnt David Lowe score 4 away at Villa one year? was a while back so go easy on me

SystonFox Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 What about the little wing wizard Joe Hamill. Any "winger" from 2005 - 2008 is a candidate. Lowest ebb in our clubs history. Each year I went back thinking "this could be our year". Only to get done by a terrible Luton Town on opening day on Sky TV

Only to get done by a terrible Luton Town on opening day on Sky TV I went to that game and was genuinely looking forward to watching our new midfield playmaker.....Andy Johnson
Donut Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 http://www.foxeshistory.co.uk/matchdetails.php?mid=820 Two, having come off the bench. Oh that was it, yeah 4-4 draw quite a game
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Barry Hayles also played as a winger in at least one game that I went to. Millwall away in the League One promotion season (we won 1-0 - Big Steve scored), he came off the bench and slot nicely on the right hand side of midfield. Oh that was it, yeah 4-4 draw quite a game I have vague recollections of going to that - in the doomed Premiership season before O'Neill?
Kitchandro Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Barry Hayles also played as a winger in at least one game that I went to. Millwall away in the League One promotion season (we won 1-0 - Big Steve scored), he came off the bench and slot nicely on the right hand side of midfield. Will remember it to the day I die. First time he got the ball he skinned about 3 on the left, megging one. There were gasps of excitement. He finished the move by expertly passing it back to the nearest blue shirt, 2 yards away. Next thing we were all singing a team of Barry Hayles' with gusto. Highlight of the season...nay, the decade.
pSinatra Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Surprised nobody hasn't already mentioned Stevie Lynex - bagged quite a few goals too. Steve Guppy for me though. He rarely beat a man, but then he never really needed to.
AKCJ Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 A winger with the speed of dyer, the ability to run with the ball like Tommy, to dribble like Lynex and to be able to put crosses in like Guppy would be one hell of a wide man! I think his name is Ronaldo
Kitchandro Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Surprised nobody hasn't already mentioned Stevie Lynex - bagged quite a few goals too. Steve Guppy for me though. He rarely beat a man, but then he never really needed to. Well, technically, he wasn't in the last 25 years

I have vague recollections of going to that - in the doomed Premiership season before O'Neill? It was a miserable season under McGhee. There were a few high spots though and memorable games. That was one of them. Think there was a high scoring game v southampton at Filbo as well, Franz Carr scored a curler, either southampton or spurs one or the other
Russell sprout Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Good goal at home to Spurs when he cut in & curled it with his right! Was that for the reserves???
pSinatra Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Well, technically, he wasn't in the last 25 years DavieG mentioned a few that are from a time when everybody lived in black & white. But you're right
jonah Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Has too be ."super stevie lynex" proper okd school winger
Guest bss9401 Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Guppy from that list, but if we go back further how about Laurie Cunningham? It was a pleasure watching him play for us. RIP
TJB-fox Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Not our best (yet) but our little knockaert has been brilliant.
Tubbymofo Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Not our best (yet) but our little knockaert has been brilliant. I think that video may have turned me
Leicester_Numan Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Guppy by far, imagine a player with Guppy's crossing and Dyers pace though. And Wright's finishing
Leicester_Numan Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Am I the only one to remember Peter Weir? He was class, shame he went back to Scotland so soon.
crisp monster Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 http://www.foxeshistory.co.uk/matchdetails.php?mid=820 Two, having come off the bench. I was there that night - fantastic when Brian Little had to walk towards the tunnel where we were at the end!!
