Bluearmy 316 Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 All this talk of wingers got me thinking who is my favorite winger I've seen down city in the last 25 years. Ooooooo Tommy wright for me has to be my favorite I will never forget his performance in the play off semi against Cambridge utd
Monk Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Guppy in his prime was probably in the top 3 wingers in the country, let alone on that list. Gupps for me definitely.
Will1981 Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Guppy by far, imagine a player with Guppy's crossing and Dyers pace though.
bovril Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Guppy could whip a ball in better than almost any winger I've seen. He and Parker could hit a dead ball so sweetly.Tommy Wright was great in his prime but nowhere near Guppy. Knocky is probably the most talented. Josh Low.... fvcking useless are the words that spring to mind.
Soar Fox Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Steve Guppy should have had more caps for England than he did. His crossing was superb.
davieG Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Mike Stringfellow Jackie Sinclair (Tommy Wright's Uncle I believe) Lenny Glover
Ric Flair Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 One off debut performances has to go to Ryan Smudger Smith and Zsolt Lackzo, I got far too excited at both of them and probably ruined it for them. Tommy Wright was exceptional in 1991/92 but Steve Guppy just shades it. Knockaert isn't a stereotypical winger and i'd have him down as our best attacking midfielder i've ever seen for us bar Izzet.

Yes he was good, very good, then turned dire, I need to find out where he is now! Xanthi fair play son.
Corky Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Guppy had a brilliant left foot for whipping in superb crosses and a right foot for bending banana-type curlers into the far corner.
casablancas Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 No one in my era comes close to Guppy. By far one of the best wingers I've ever seen play in or out of Leicester. Crying Shame he was overlooked by his country so much.
ozvaldo Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Steve Guppy, easily. I know Knockaert plays out on that wing, but I always class him as an 'Attacking Midfielder' roaming around causing a threat - not an old school winger taking on his man and whipping balls into the box. Dyer has been the only real 'winger' we've had for a while - although his crossing isn't always great, but his pace is a huge threat. Josh Low - he was just horrendously sh!t. Jordan Stewart was pretty decent in that first season at the Walkers - I seem to remember him whipping in a few decent balls into the likes of Scowy/Deane ... was he a left winger or a left back? Can't remember.
Ric Flair Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Yes he was good, very good, then turned dire, I need to find out where he is now! Xanthi fair play son. Hahahahaaa anyone fancy doing an Anderlecht and coming with me to mob him after a game?
body102 Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Guppy could get crosses in without even beating the man . Keith Weller when he played on the wing was class on grass
Master Fox Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Maxi weren't bad either. But definitely Josh Low for me.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Josh Low's one successful cross against Burnley runs him a very close second to Steve Guppy, who along with Garry Parker, has to be one of the most accurate lofted passers I've ever had the pleasure to see.
