The half hour from 7 minutes from around 37 minutes must be just about the best I have seen Leicester play...ever. I was a fantastic team performance, obviously, but also some of the individual skill from several different players was stunning. Have we ever had so many players capable of doing something special in one team? Not since I have been watching, and this includes the O'Neill years. But... while it is fine to be buzzing, people again seem to be seeing promotion as a formality. Every time this has happened recently it has seen a slump in fortunes and eventual disappointment. It is, of course, irrational to think that over-confidence in fans can cause a slump in form, but it does seem this way sometimes. It is similar to how home advantage should not exist. Just because a greater percentage of people watching a game want a particular team to win should not effect the outcome,,,but it does. It is an unexplainable but statistically significant factor in predicting football matches. I am not looking to be a killjoy or spoil the moment, but is it possible we could continue to be excited and positive but without any assumptions about the eventual success or otherwise of the season? One thing I will say...this is the best position Leicester City have been in for a long, long while.

I don't see it as a formality but having seen us demolish one of the 'better teams' in the division and the results we have secured over this Christmas period it's hard not to get excited. I'm always an advocate of one game at a time and I only really look forward to the next one and this is now one I am really excited about. Pearson said all the right things last night, we just need to keep working hard, keep focused and win one game at a time.

If we're in this position, and in this form, in two or three months then I'll reassess, but at the minute I'm still being realistic and open while taking one game at a time. I know Nige will be doing the same.
EnglishOxide Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 I dont think anybody is under any illusions, we know it can go wrong, and possibly having the gap closed down to 4 today will remind us all that there is a long way to go. But theres no reason not to enjoy where we are at the minute. The best thing about this is i reckon is that we dont seem to have an arrogant squad. They will remember last season. Difference is that everybody knows that if they under perform this time then we have subs which are desperate to play every week.

SystonFox Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 pearson ou..... ah forget it. we are incredible team at the moment. even when we dont play fantastic stuff we win ugly (qpr away). and then we can flip the table and make Derbalona look like Rushden and Diamonds with an albino kid in the middle. guaranteed minimum still 4 points clear of second come 5pm this evening. keep that 4 point gap consistently week in week out and we are champions. Arise sir nige. I think leeds will be a tough game. I'd take a point! win your home games, draw the away games and we have done it

Kitchandro Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 I do have some concerns still. Our squad hasn't changed that much from last season when we capitulated, I generally think it's a bit small if we get injuries or players lose form. Other than that though, you have to say we do look like a side that will be promoted at the moment. We could easily lose to Leeds and have a bad run but encouragingly, we haven't really had a bad run yet. There was a couple of losses in a row and a home draw (against Burnley, no mugs) but nothing like last December or post January. I'd rather look forward to the next game than worry about it. If we continue to play at this performance level no one will beat us. We've just got to keep it up.

Trumpet Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 I think the fact that we've been consistent throughout the season, gives us reason to be optimistic. Every time we've had a slight blip, we've come back fighting and winning which has to from the experiences of last season. IMO the Championship is stronger this season too and we're doing the business. Really good time to be a Leicester fan.

The Championship is a marathon, not a sprint and while we are playing the best football Ive seen us play in years, we aint won nowt yet. Next week, away at Leeds will be a tough game and we would do well to come away from there with anything. Im sure Nige will be grinning inside, but telling his players to keep their feet on the ground and to take it one game at a time. Our fans might be prudent to do the same. A repeat of last season, though improbable, is still possible and there are gonna be some people with egg on their faces should that occur. Enjoy the moment but keep grounded is probably sensible for the moment.

sdb Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Our record between now and May last season was inexplicably bad. Any seasoned LCFC fan knows they shouldn't get too carried away. It's looking good but we're only half way. So much football still to be played. And I for one simply cannot handle another 3rd-6th finish. I genuinely don't think I could take it.
