The Doctor Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Yes but as I said, this is the championship, one of the most unpredictable leagues in the world So? On the balance of things we should not be settling for a draw. Saying the championship is unpredictable is not a reason: we've won 5 on the bounce, unbeaten in 6, they've not won in 6, our recent form in Leeds is very good - we should not be settling for a draw.
Babylon Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 I know it's a boring old cliche, but we need to treat every single game as a cup final, we can't go into any game thinking it's going to be easy. Because the times we have got overly confident on here, the next game we've walked away with nothing.
indierich06 Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 I think saying "I would take a draw" is wrong, we are more than good enough to beat these, but if we do end up with a draw I wouldn't be too disappointed, obviously depends on how we play, but they will not be a push over, the Wednesday game will either demoralise them or spur them on to up their game, especially with top of the table visiting. We know what Leicester are like, this just the sort of game we will lose as we are all buzzing from the derby game. This is the right attitude for me. I think we're more than good enough to beat these, and I'd expect us to beat them as well. If we get a draw, I won't mind too much though. I'd only be really disappointed if we lost.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 13 January 2014 Author Posted 13 January 2014 The reason we are where we are this season is as much down to us going away to teams and NOT playing for a draw than doing so. Yes, this may of wielded a few away defeats we shouldnt of had but lets make no mistake here, Its much better to go there and throw everything at them than be cautious. Its a hell of a lot better points wise to go away from home and win a few, lose a few, than it is to play for draws. And that reason alone is why we only have 3 draws all season, but 5 defeats, but still sit high and mighty over everyone else. We have approached away games with an element of caution though

Our confidence as fans has nothing to do with anything though, regardless of what some on here believe. As long as the players aren't in that mindset - and you can be sure that Pearson won't let them take anything for granted - that's all that matters.
Soar Fox Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Ps Steve Walsh had £50 on Leicester 4 Derby 1 What a shout!!! No I didn't.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 13 January 2014 Author Posted 13 January 2014 BTW I'm not "settling for a draw" I'm hoping for a win but would take a draw. I suppose they call that pragmatism
Haydos Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Dont forget this it the championship, anything can happen I'm positive but realistic I'd say you're negative and UNrealistic based on our recent results there.
Haydos Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 BTW I'm not "settling for a draw" I'm hoping for a win but would take a draw. I suppose they call that pragmatism Why would you take a draw out of interest? Good recent record, best we've played in ages, top of the Championship, Leeds recently on the end of a hiding....On paper you'd have us as clear favourites.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 It will be a tough game but hopefully one that we can win
Langston Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Why would you take a draw out of interest? Good recent record, best we've played in ages, top of the Championship, Leeds recently on the end of a hiding....On paper you'd have us as clear favourites. I think the saying "I'd take a draw" is a little unambitious when everything points towards a steady win for us, but I can understand why some might be a little pensive after what happened at Hillsborough, another game in which we we clear favourites after smashing a side at home whilst admiring the view from the summit of the division.

Good recent record, best we've played in ages, top of the Championship, Leeds recently on the end of a hiding....On paper you'd have us as clear favourites. As jimmy greaves used to say "it's a funny old game" QPR were unbeaten at home and seemingly looked invincible at loftus road until we turned up after a poor run of form....
foxfanazer Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 A draw wouldn't be the end of the world but I think this team is more than capable of beating what appears to be a very poor leeds side. Our pace should absolutely terrorise their back line and if we win the physical battle in midfield we should win comfortably. 3-1 city
AndWhat? Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 I'll settle for 5 nil, anything less and i'll be pissed off.
Babylon Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Our confidence as fans has nothing to do with anything though, regardless of what some on here believe. As long as the players aren't in that mindset - and you can be sure that Pearson won't let them take anything for granted - that's all that matters. I'm aware of that, the point I was making was that when we feel like that, the players might also. It's quite easy to fall into the "we've cracked it" mind set, even when the manager might be telling you not to. I hope the experience of earlier in the season, and the thought of last year will stop us falling into that trap again. We need to earn the right to play our own game, and not expect others to allow us.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 13 January 2014 Author Posted 13 January 2014 In the home game they out muscled us in midfield, they will try and do the same again with Austin and brown in midfield again I'd imagine If we can combat that then we can win
Captain... Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 When someone says "I'd take a draw", what they are saying is "If someone offered me the draw before the game I would take it." Which is a daft thing to say as I'm sure the odds will show, we are favourites for the win, and have better odds than the draw. If anyone gets to make this sort of Faustian pact, and guarantees us the draw at Leeds at the expense of the chance for the win, then I would hunt them down and feed them to the foxes. I would only ever "take the draw" if I expected us to lose. So are people actually expecting us to lose this? If you mean a draw wouldn't be a bad result, then say that. If you mean you wouldn't be too disappointed by the draw, then say that.
EnglishOxide Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Expecting a big improvement from them but a solid performance from us. 1-0 Knockaert
Corky Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 We've got more steel about us away from home, won 7 in 12 and have combined some convincing away wins with determined performances. No need to approach any game looking for a draw at most, we are top for a reason and our away wins have contributed significantly.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 I think we will tear these a new one! COYB
Monsell1976 Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Good and bad runs come to an end at some point, let's hope neither end on Saturday.
Bilbo Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 I think their game plan will be be as dirty as possible (what else have they got?), so hopefully we won't pick up any injuries.
lgfualol Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Same team again pls subs: Logan, Miquel, Wasyl, Mahrez, Wood, Schlupp, King I don't know who he will choose as subs, Hammond, GTF and stuff too
