SpoonFox Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 This is my first ever "topic" so go easy on me I've been reading the threads on here for some time about our players and how well we're doing this season and wondered if there were any other players on this league that could possibly get into our first team over what we've currently got. Personally, I don't think there is based on current form but open to discussion...
Soar Fox Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Possibly Jordan Rhodes/ Danny Ings over Nugent Aaron Cresswell over Konchesky
Fox92 Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Well it's so easy to say nobody because we're top of the league. If this squad was bottom people would be throwing names left, right and centre... I'm 'going easy on you', but there's no point because what's the point in changing a team like ours at the minute? I'd take Ings though.
Xen Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Cresswell. Konchesky is good, but he isn't the best in the league. Everywhere else we seem to be quite strong as a team, rather than individuals. There are players more able than some of ours, but I don't think any of them would really improve the way our side plays together. Would take Ings, but not sure he'd be in the first XI consistently this year. Rotating the front 3 (Ings/Vardy/Nuge) would be more likely, I think.
LCFC FOX Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Adomah looked good for Boro as did Friend at LB. Rhodes, Ings or Austin would
SpoonFox Posted 26 January 2014 Author Posted 26 January 2014 Actually maybe I had my blue tinted glasses on as we're clear at the top. I like Konchesky but he has been average lately so maybe his place would be up for grabs. Definitely shouldn't be a starter if we go up. He'd struggle against speedy wingers.
Jimothy Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Obviously Kieran Trippier, he's the best right back in this league by miles
bovril Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Charlie Austin and Niko Kranjcar. Byram looked good last week.Joey Barton?
Simonb Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 The way we play id say no one.. none of the previously mentioned forwards run at defenders and with our playing style we wouldnt function with an ings or an austin loitering around the box as it wouldn't work and bring the midfield into the attack. Maybe a left back but I think konchs experience and game reading ability is vital too
The Man In Black Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Tom Ince for Nugent, play Knockeart behind Vardy. New RB and LB.
harpendenfox Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Blimey. Vardy goes from 'league one player at best' a year ago to one of the best in the league now, and few would disagree. A lesson to us all
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Blimey. Vardy goes from 'league one player at best' a year ago to one of the best in the league now, and few would disagree. A lesson to us all Ok! Now, beam me up Scotty.
Guest ttfn Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 There's probably a case for each of our starting XI not being the best in their position in the league. I don't think that individually anybody has particularly excelled. For example, Vardy has improved massively and he is invaluable to our team now but would you pick him in a best XI of the Championship with the likes of Rhodes? Of course you wouldn't. But the whole point of this season is that it hasn't been about individuals. It's been a proper team effort where less technically gifted footballers like Vardy are just as critical to our success as the leaders like Morgan and the technicians like Knockaert and Drinkwater.

harpendenfox Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Ok! Now, beam me up Scotty. illogical, captain
Jakemoore Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 I like the look of cresswell and at only 23 he's got years on konch!
Stadt Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Cresswell, Ings/Austin/McCormack and Ince. I don't think you could guarantee that any of them would start everyweek though.

Its more a fact that we have the right blend within our squad, they all compliment each other. Whereas if we're talking about individuals on paper, obviously there are players who are better individually. For example, QPR...individually, they've got the best players in the league. But we're the better team.
