Dan Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 If used responsibly. Sadly, those who've used them in this country have been irresponsible. It's a non-starter anyway. They don't even let you stand up in this country let alone let off flares.
LMlcfc Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Flares are your dangerous thing, poll should be renamed smoke bombs, only danger is breathing in, if used responsibly in and environment full of teens and adults at an away match then yeah sure why not. Adds to the atmosphere
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Its a great night club .. see the thread Davie G fetched up..
Haydos Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Bit cringey to be so desperate for something that would look ridiculous in our stadium for example. Also very dangerous and I agree that 'if used safely' they would be fine but lets be honest, plenty of mugs would throw them.

Captain... Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Basically the club/police/FAhave 2 options, go heavy handed and kick out anyone bringing in a flare automatic life time ban, searching everyone at the ground and try and stamp it out. Or work with the fans, create a singing, standing area where people who want to stand all match let off flares and bounce around having it large can do so without disturbing the fans that don't want to inhale smoke and stand all game. By criminalising it you will get people letting them off and throwing them, and they will be let off indiscriminately and someone with breathing problems could get caught up in it, which is not acceptable for a bit pretty coloured smoke.
MC Prussian Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 As of right now, no. As long as flares and smoke bombs - dangerous tools containing toxic and potentially life-threatening substances - are used by people who only enjoy bragging rights (with a total disregard for their fellow people surrounding them) and/or don't know how to use them and/or are not trained in handling them, not a chance. Besides, I don't see what a few feeble smoke bombs add to the "atmosphere". People should be better off coming up with intricate choreos, smart chants and other peaceful and intelligent support instead.
LMlcfc Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Come on lads, don't let the boring blokes put you down, we know they down turn up to all the away games like us, the fans love them.
Danno Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Come on lads, don't let the boring blokes put you down, we know they down turn up to all the away games like us, the fans love them. lol . You are absolutely tragic.
C-man Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 actually they are legal to be carried in public... Clearly I meant the act of setting them off is illegal!
DennisNedry Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Cringey cringe cringe The word cringe makes me cringe.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Would a "responsible person" use flares anyway?

sylofox Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 actually they are legal to be carried in public... Don't think you will find any firework is legal to be carried in public.
sylofox Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 http://www.fsf.org.uk/assets/Smoke-Bombs-Flares-and-Fireworks-Factsheet-for-FSF.pdf That about sums it up Shame the kids don't realise they are part of the firearms act.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Don't think you will find any firework is legal to be carried in public. How do I get my firework from the shop to home then? If you're over 18 you can, that FSF article clears everything regarding current rules. While I wish we could let off flares and the like, the reality of jail time is enough to put me off.
Harry - LCFC Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 I can understand why people don't like them but I must say that isn't a particularly good argument for having them banned. There are many things other people do which I don't get but that doesn't mean I have any right to stop them from doing what they're doing. Arguments against them should be on grounds of safety and less about whether you yourself appreciate them.
Bayfox Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 No. This ain't the 70s. Wear some jeans with sensible sized lower sections or get out! think they call it boot cut nowdays!!!
Dan Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 agreed, are stewards and a joke. nothing better to do than irritate the fvck out of everyone. The majority of stewards aren't the problem. They're in a lose/lose situation.

While I wish we could let off flares and the like, the reality of jail time is enough to put me off. You purchase them then take them home the police will do nothing. Your caught walking the street with them in your pocket you can and possible will get charged. Attempting to or taking them into a football ground you will be charged. As I put fireworks are part of the firearms act you can't walk the streets with them in your pockets. Taking them home after purchase is pretty obvious not breaking the law as you have to get them home.
