foxes_rule1978 Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Pearson is growing has a manager just how good can he be, better than O'Neill? only time will tell but I believe he will adapt to the PL, he is young, knowledgable and improved immensely when it comes to out smarting other managers tactically. I can only see him progressing into a top manager, I just hope he does that with us.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 He will be better than o'neill IMO but I think all will be decided when we go up
Milton Keynes Fox Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Until we have a season in the prem we won't be able to compare to o'neil etc, I think he'd keep us up in the prem
Bryn Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Could see him returning to the England set up one day. Maybe even as manager? Who knows. But certainly as a coach, perhaps a return to the U21 set up where he was well regarded.
bovril Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Steady on. O'Neill established us as a top 10 Premiership side, won two trophies and got us into Europe. Pearson doesn't come close at the moment. He's had decent resources at his disposal and used them well. I'm really impressed with what Pearson's achieved, but O'Neill had us punching above where we have always historically been as a club.
Guest Bilo Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 In all honesty, I think Pearson has a decent Premier League career ahead of him. He's cut his teeth over a long time, is tactically astute, canny in the transfer market and doesn't crumble under the media glare.
leicesterisme Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Would love him to manage us for the next 10 years.
StanSP Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 I think he could be a Barcelona and Brazil manager. At the same time.

Personally I think Pearson has the potential to be our greatest ever manager, just as this team has the potential to be our best ever. But what counts is results over a full season in tough competitions. In five years' time, if we are established in the top tier and we've maybe been to Wemberlee a couple of times, we will be able to judge NP fully. As it is, I just hope that no other club comes in for him (or, if they do, that the Thais tell them to fvck off).
Thracian Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Pearson is growing has a manager just how good can he be, better than O'Neill? only time will tell but I believe he will adapt to the PL, he is young, knowledgable and improved immensely when it comes to out smarting other managers tactically. I can only see him progressing into a top manager, I just hope he does that with us. His potential is immense because he's a clearly intelligent man who never blinds himself to the idea of learning and improving. He a thoughtful, controlled man but it's clear from his many interests that he's not at all boring, has a dry and mischievous sense of humour and would, I'd imagine, be excellent company in most any situation - apart from perhaps, after he'd seen us lose and play badly. He's a prudent man not a Flash Harry - the sort of guy who'll probably work more comfortably with honest but capable of improving players rather than some of the more arrogant and self-centred superstars but even then I think he'd adjust and eventually recognise/find out which of the top players earned their corn and were comfortable to work with and those who were self, self, self and take, take, take. Development wise there were so many clues to Pearson's potential last season. We started brilliantly, played some scintillating football and eventually went top of the League before it all fell to pieces. This season, in his own words, we're "better prepared" and he's seen to that. We've a tighter but more talented squad and one capable of much greater consistency because - at championship level - there are no glaring weaknesses and there's much more cover in most positions. Others have mentioned that the team's a year older and footballers love to feel comfortable within a unit and to have confidence that everyone in the side is capable and willing to give their all. Partnerships matter too. They take time to develop but we seem to have a number now and each seems to compliment others around them. At one time there were so many weaknesses - in our personnel, our preparation, our individual shortcomings, our tactics, our philosophy and our ruthlessness but, gradually, Pearson has addressed those things and while he'll doubtless continue to make localised mistakes the pace of progress has been commendable to the point of outstanding since he's been here. Our club has got its pride back, we're playing a lot of the sort of committed attacking football I've been pleading to see us playing again, we're managing our resources soundly and we seem to be building on rock for the future - something for which our owners deserve praise as well as our manager and his staff. I wondered if I'd ever be able to say it at times but Pearson's been mighty close to a 10/10 rating this season - together with the team alongside him. Furthermore I don't thing we'll be whipping boys if we go up. Preparations will be in hand for any promotion and I think we'll be much more like Southampton. Happy days! .
Fox92 Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 ... We had this thread after the play off season when we lost to Cardiff. I love Nige, always have done since he took over for the very first time, but let's not forget what O'Neill achieved in terms of making Leicester a top flight side again, as well as being successful in a major trophy which guided us into Europe. Got admiration for how Nige goes about his job though.

I didn't suggest Pearson was better now, I was trying to highlight his potential... he is a very smart manager, and I just think he is capable of much bigger things. I hope that is with us.
Mack Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Weeeeeeee There they all go running off getting ahead of themselves again. Feet on ground here... Promotion is not done, when it is and only then should we even start thinking as fans about how next season will go. There is so much water that will pass under the LCFC bridge before this conversation can be had and argued with any authority. Does it look promising... yes... nothing more than that.
TrentFox Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Am I the only one that thinks we might just be getting a teensy, weensy bit ahead of ourselves here?
MooseBreath Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 IF we go up, next season will be massive for Nige. Endless difficult challenges. Money to spend but on a higher class of player than he's used to, all sorts of potential for disharmony in the squad, going from being among the best to among the worst teams in the division and the totally different kind of man management that will require, keeping one eye on FFP should we get relegated. If he passes the test he could well go on to be a regular prem manager. If he fails I think he's destined to be another one like Warnock who regularly plods around the clubs at the top end of the championship, occasionally winning promotion.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 2 February 2014 Author Posted 2 February 2014 Am I the only one that thinks we might just be getting a teensy, weensy bit ahead of ourselves here? Why is it with our fans as soon as a positive thread comes up, we are all getting ahead of ourselves...? not at all it is clear Pearson is growing, and clear he is a smart manager with potential.

Yes. Doing an outstanding job ? Yes. But some of these comments have him nailed on as our best ever manager. I just think it is disrespectful to those who worked their socks of at a higher level with wider challenges to earn those accolades. I hope he does become the best we've ever had. But to proclaim him as such when we are beating Yeovil and Bournemouth is just getting ahead of ourselves. In my opinion.
Stadt Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 I love Nige but I don't think he'll be able to be as successful as MON.
theessexfox Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Credit to the owners for allowing him to excel this season.
LCCFox96 Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Pearson is a good manager and has the potential to be a great manager. Not only that but he must be one of the most respected and talented British managers currently managing in the top two flights right now. In today's game that has to count for something. Only time will tell what heights he can reach.
xHamzah Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 How many other English managers set their teams out to play the way we do? (genuine question)
Jalwit Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 To quote the man himself: "There's an awful long way to go...I'm not going to get drawn in to all that sort of excitement and getting ahead of ourselves. You set yourselves up if you do that." Our fans could possibly learn from the man we presently justifiably adulate. Saying that, he has done and fantastic job so far, and long may he continue to do so!
bovril Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 And lets not forget that Adkins took Southampton up twice in consecutive seasons, an even bigger achievement than Pearson's here (assuming we'll do it this year). I can't really imagine him as a future England manager.
Dan Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 The only thing stopping Pearson succeeding in the Premier League is the fact he's English.
