Jimothy Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Hit the nail on head on twitter. @matt_diangelo: Outstanding actor. A true talent. But I'm bored of seeing people killed by drugs. What a waste of a life. #RIPPhilipSeymourHoffman
Mickey O'Neil Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Gutted and agree it's a waste of a life. 46 years old is nothing. He played Brandt in my all-time favourite move "The Big Lebowki".
Russell sprout Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 ****in hell, great performance in 'owning Mahoney',what a shame.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Hit the nail on head on twitter. @matt_diangelo: Outstanding actor. A true talent. But I'm bored of seeing people killed by drugs. What a waste of a life. #RIPPhilipSeymourHoffman Totally agreeWhat a waste
Charl91 Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 He had a young kids too. What a douche. They're the only people I feel sorry for.
Tielemans63 Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Madness. One of the most talented actors on the planet. What a pointless waste.
Strokes Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 He had a young kids too. What a douche. They're the only people I feel sorry for.I have to agree with that, selfish behaviour.
ozleicester Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 A fine actor, harsh that some are hating on a man who clearly had problems that lead to drug abuse and death
Charl91 Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 A fine actor, harsh that some are hating on a man who clearly had problems that lead to drug abuse and death Whatever his problems, that's no reason to do heroin, especially when you have kids.
Bert Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 Hit the nail on head on twitter. @matt_diangelo: Outstanding actor. A true talent. But I'm bored of seeing people killed by drugs. What a waste of a life. #RIPPhilipSeymourHoffman Exactly. A fine actor, harsh that some are hating on a man who clearly had problems that lead to drug abuse and deathPlenty of people in the world have problems but don't turn to drugs.
Darkon84 Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 A fine actor, harsh that some are hating on a man who clearly had problems that lead to drug abuse and death He may not have been 'driven to it', one of the stories I've heard today is that he has been using for a LONG time, apparently since his teens, and it was well known in the acting world.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 A fine actor, harsh that some are hating on a man who clearly had problems that lead to drug abuse and death Nobody forces you to take drugs. Great actor though.
Ric Flair Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 He's battled drink and drugs since the late 80's and had stayed clean for nigh on 25 years apparently. If that's not a stark picture of how horrible addictions are never completely gotten rid of then I don't know what is. You have to fight with everything you've got all day every day to not go back. It can seem barbaric, moronic and disgraceful to most but i've worked with clients riddled with various addictions for years and it's harrowing to see but I have empathy.

Yeah, the Guardian revisited this interview yesterday and the quote that stuck out for me was: Hoffman had been addicted to drink and drugs as a young man, but had been clean for more than 20 years. He never lost the sense that he might lapse, though. "Just because all that time's passed doesn't mean 'maybe it was just a phase'", he told me. "That's you know, that's who I am." A year later, in 2012, he checked himself into rehab for taking prescription drugs and snorting cocaine.
Ric Flair Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 Yeah, the Guardian revisited this interview yesterday and the quote that stuck out for me was: Fcukin hell, that's awful. It just shows that he wasn't careless about it, but for whatever reason he relapsed. Sometimes you almost feel like a person knows they'll do it again even after all those years and almost want to cause chaos to themselves again. Hideous.
johnny the fox Posted 3 February 2014 Author Posted 3 February 2014 I will just say this about the judgemental comments.. just be thankful you are not cursed with an addictive personality. and think yourself lucky..no doubt one of your loved ones has or will have suffered sometime in your life.. its not a case of lacking moral fibre, its an illness people struggle with their whole lives.
Darkon84 Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 Yeah, the Guardian revisited this interview yesterday and the quote that stuck out for me was: That's set me straight on the things I'd heard and posted above. Absolutely awful
