She lost her job for stealing £13,000 from her job at the council which would make it hard for her to find another job but it's her own fault.

Shock horror. The sponger says she's not a sponger. Utterly compelling.

Now you can tell me what help she's accessed to help her with her depression.

On an aside a Rosemary West has answered my ad on the village noticeboard for a baby-sitter and has provided your name as a referee. Whaddyathink?

Of course my mistake, I forgot you were a mind reader and capable of knowing exactly what she is thinking.

I don't know what help she has accessed for her depression, I'm not the one claiming to know everything about her and using that is justification for giving her abuse.

What you have done is confused her with your prejudices and preconceptions of people on benefits. This is what bothers me, she has been made out to be everything that people hate about benefits and receiving this abuse because of it. You have no idea whether she deserves benefits or not, you are just happy to have someone to blame.

Although she worked behind a bar and was later a Birmingham City Council administrator she left in disgrace after being convicted of stealing £13,000.

She narrowly avoided jail in 2007 and was ordered to carry out 220 hours' unpaid after being convicted of a ‘mean-spirited and calculated’ theft.

Can certainly see how she goes into this role of "mother of the street" now can't you? If you go back to the first few pages of this thread I say that it wouldn't surprise me if she was doing that as she was swindling money off some of the other claimaints.

After reading a bit of her history I'd say it's more than likely now, it would certainly go some way to explaining why Fungi and the couple with two kids can't afford a beer and she has an Ipad and SkyTV.

Would their be any way the guys at the JSA would make sure a bank account and numbers would be registered directly to the person claiming?

You really swallowing all this Captain?

Of course she could work if she wanted to, she's happy to go on talk shows now ffs. Depression isn't an excuse not to work, she hasn't done it because it's so easy not to and still enjoy the benefits of a working lifestyle.

I can't believe you are actually believing what she is spouting.

Why not? Do you think she enjoys living like that?

Depression is not an excuse not to work, but it is going to make it much harder to motivate yourself to find work, depression isn't just being a bit sad, it is a debilitating state of mind. Whilst I don't disagree that the benefits system enables people like Dee who are depressed to stay on Benefits, I don't think that is justification for giving her abuse.

Didn't know that, might make it hard for her in her potential new career:

Tbh I've met loads of people like White Dee and I usually get on with them, not best mates by any means but I don't hate them. I just don't feel sorry for them either.

Yeah of course she does, did you miss how many times she said things along the lines of "You can have a much money as you want but you'll never get what we have" etc.

I think her lifestyle is perfect for a fat, lazy, overweight slob, fair enough it may have taken a turn for the worse now we have a government who don't wrote blank cheques to these people but she appears to be getting by and enjoying many luxeries in her life.

Certainly appears more well off than a working single mother I know. She can't afford Sky or an Ipad.

No sure if you have been on the windup in this thread but if you aren't it's rather concerning that you have going from viewing her a sympathetic target to your own personal poster girl.

At what point did she become my poster girl? that's Jack :w00t:

I'm not celebrating her or her lifestyle, she isn't a role model or anything to aspire to, I just don't think she deserves a whole thread just to abuse her.

You don't know anything about my views about people on benefits. You do however know my views about the fat lazy sponger who is the subject of this thread.

Heaven forbid that you of all people would have preconceptions and make assumptions of others.

We'll have agree to disagree I think on that, I think the more abuse the better, the more kids growing up not wanting to be like her the better we'll all be. Knowing the UK though she'll end up being celebrated as a reality star for years now and will become the council estate version of Kim Kardashian and be someone to the youth aspires to.

lol As if you'll ever be feeding your family on a tenner a week ;)

I'm not the one claiming to know everything about her

But you are though. You've given her all sorts of attributes, opinions and mental states for which you have no evidence whatsoever. The negative views on her are based on what everyone has seen on TV. Of course what has been shown on TV is not the be all and end all but it's a lot more reliable than whatever it is you're basing your opinions on.

I don't believe that you believe what you are writing in this thread. It's another one of those threads where I can't help wondering about your motivations, and it starts to feel a bit creepy.

Hopefully not, hopefully she and the rest of benefits street will just disappear, the sooner the better, I don't want Dee or any of the others to make a career out of this and I don't want to see them held up as benefits heroes, and see them all over day time TV (Jack on the other hand has actually done something to deserve it). She had a right to reply, so don't begrudge her appearing on the "debate", but hopefully after next week they will be left in peace, except by the job centre who.To be honest In White Dee all I see is a human being that we should feel sorry for, not sit around making fun of.

What a stupid post. Who has said that no one has an entitlement to benefits. Forgive me if my heart doesn't bleed for someone who does an awful lot of boozing, fagging and sitting on their arse whilst shouting and swearing at her kids and expressing disbelief that her daughter was different from her and most others in the street by actually wanting to work. You don't need too many brain cells to distinguish between valid entitlement and a free meal ticket. There are plenty of low income workers who sweat and struggle to care for themselves and contribute to the pot that rightly looks after others in genuine need. No wonder there are people like her bleating that they don't get enough free money when there's people like you gullible enough to take up their cause.

That was a joke, ffs.

Nobody is saying you should be sympathetic, nobody is even saying you should care, or even like her. My heart doesn't bleed for her and I'm not taking up her cause, what I don't get is why this one woman offends you and others so much to start a thread specifically to slag her off. She is one of many that fall through the cracks and end up living on benefits because of problems with the system. People wonder why immigrants can come over here and take jobs from natives. Would you employ her? Would anyone employ an obese 42 year old woman with a history of depression and mental health issues, a criminal record for stealing in the workplace and a brummie accent?

She is not the problem she is a symptom of the real problem which is the benefits system in this country, but by directing all the hate and vitriol at her you completely miss the point. I am going to look into my crystal ball her and predict the future...

Someone will offer her a job, she will take it, it will make the news, everyone will go "yay" and pat each other on the back and then forget about Benefits Street, about 3-6 months later she will quit the job, or get fired, then she will be splashed all over the news again, demonised and held up once again as the poster girl of the benefits generation. In the meantime nothing will actually change, more people will get entrenched in benefits. We will get a return to Benefits Street, and Benefits Street 2, maybe on a different street and we will get a new set of Benefits celebrities, they will take all the focus and still nothing will be done to actually address the real problem.

We'll have to differ on the extent to which she was joking.

As to why I started the thread -

because a football forum is the Internet version of being down the pub where there'll be serious and frivolous discussion, debate and pisstaking. Whatever's in the news will often come up for discussion. Next time it might be UKIP or catholic priests. Others might like to profess how much they earn or their prowess between the sheets. Given my username I won't call you out on the latter! That there are other posters who have posted suggested uses indicates that there are those who can see humour in the thread. Fair enough that you don't but I struggle to understand why there are those who spring to her defence. Let's be clear; this isn't a pisstake of someone who is deserving of handouts. She is articulate and intelligent enough to have had employment and be able to better provide for herself and her children. From a position of trust she stole 13k from her employer. I'll wager she didn't use the proceeds of crime to set up a soup kitchen. I don't see any signs that she is trying to better her situation. She seems reasonably content with lounging on the sofa and puffing what money she gets away. If this were a thread about someone who was vulnerable and hasn't wasted their opportunity I could understand the ire. Likewise, had it been a thread attacking benefits per se. As it is I struggle to understand why some are so keen to defend her and won't be losing any sleep because I started a thread that takes the piss.

She said she was joking, and you see later in the show supporting her daughter and praising her for her drive. Of course she is going to want her kids to earn more than just benefits as she will want looking after when she is older.

She used the money she stole to fund her partners crack habit.

I guess I see someone with mental health problems and entrenched in the benefit system as vulnerable, I don't mind the odd pisstake, and didn't find your original post "ornamental garden gnome" offensive, but the direction this thread took went too far.
