Charlton (H) - SK1

As some of you will know, we held our first meeting at the end of December 2013. We'd like to think that the meeting was a success, and that as a group we have made some positive, if steady, steps to begin with.

Since the start of January, we have been liaising with our members and a number of other fans regarding the possibility of arranging a designated block for our group, and like-minded 'singers' away from L1, given the obvious space and price constraints that L and K have.

There is no doubt that L1 are consistently the loudest area of the stadium and have been for a number of years. We are in no way trying to belittle the achievements of the block in the past, and recognise that it is vital to us continuing to improve the atmosphere at home games.

That said, there are too many fans scattered across the remainder of the ground that need uniting. Those fans that want to sing for 90 minutes, those that are willing to lose their voice every Saturday to help the team in their own small way.

We want to unite these fans in SK1 and give them a secondary area to be proud of. The area will serve to act as a link between L1 and the remainder of the Kop to generate a special atmosphere (that we know we are capable of - see Fulham, Bolton etc) every single game - win, lose or draw.

We are targeting the Charlton game on 1 March as the start for SK1. Any success will hopefully be built upon at another match or two before the season's end with the ultimate goal that the block be a permanent fixture in time for the start of next season, regardless of which division we are in.

So, what do we need from you? We have had positive responses from 65 of our members who have committed to either relocating to SK1, buying tickets there as a one-off, or who already have tickets in the area. We would like this number to grow. The larger the block is on its first outing, the more impact we'll have in attracting new fans. In this regard, we would like you to share this - on Facebook, on Twitter, by word of mouth in the ground - as much as you can with people you believe will be interested in joining us.

If you would like to get involved, please do not hesitate to let us by DM or by e-mail ([email protected]). For your information, Row HH up to the top is the target area of SK1 but we can provide more specific details directly upon request.

If anyone is good with graphic design, please do get in touch as we need significant help in this respect!

This will of course be a challenge. We are not naive enough to think that there won't be sticking points along the way. For the record, we have been in contact with LCFC on this matter and are hoping to meet with them prior to the game itself to discuss our plans in further detail.

We do not want to mess around with gimmicks, we just want to provide great, traditional support.

I was in SK1 for the Watford game, hoping you would already b there! (It was safe to say you weren't lol )

I was at the top of SK1 and near the top there was pretty much no one there. But there were still quite a few empty seats to the left of me in SK2, whilst just along from that there were a small amount of Kop standers that were trying to sing.

I do think it's important not to get stuck in the corner and completely isolated. The Fosse Boys tried that and it didn't work.

You have the right basic area of the stadium, but I'd suggest getting as close to the singers in the Kop as possible. There are a small amount there who try and sing and in certain games it infects (in a good way) a bit further down. The idea should be to make that group that already exists bigger.

So specifically, I envision this section to begin on the right (left as you look at it) hand side of the Kop, rather than the corner (though if  it's big enough, it would spread to there of course)

I was actually trying to get tickets there for Watford but got myself muddled up and ended up right in the corner lol

Anyway, that's just my opinion.

Personally I think this will just split the singers between the Kop and L/K, leaving both areas less noisy. Having 2 singing areas in opposite sides of the ground won't work because they never manage to sing in time with each other.

I think this could work! A link between the Kop and the East Stand seems logical. With the Family Stand getting in on the atmosphere now. 3/4 stands going for it should give it some real bounce!

I think it's a great idea! I'm not around for this one but if it starts to work I'll more than happily sit there in future! As it is, I usually target K1!

Ticket has been sorted, looking forward to this.

You're right Bolton and Fulham were great atmospheres.

The reason?

5-3 and 4-3

The kop should never have been given that name. It isn't worthy of it. I cant believe how shit it has become.

As I've said before,I have recently relocated there.Contrary to what some people have said,it is a good place to move to as there are plenty of empty seats,so won't be annoying Mr an Mrs "sit on there hands".I'm loseing my voice at the moment after all games, and that's something I've not done at home games in a few years.I'm just concerned that there's not enough fans willing to do the same.

I guarantee that there is. The issue is they are massively dispersed throughout the rest of the ground and for whatever reason (price, mates, family etc) they have never saw fit to move. Hopefully this will give them some incentive.

I'm in. As far as I'm aware the idea is to fill the area between the very corner of SK1/G2 across to the SK2 divide where there is quite a number committed to singing already. There's tonnes of empty seats there that need filling so get involved!

Yeah I read your post - didn't mean for mine to sound like I was challenging you in any way. Totally accept your points.
