Mjeb Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 It seems like every day another player or staff member / radio leicester are talking like its a formality we are going up ( which I pray we do ). To keep up our run is going to be very difficult , burnley seem to keep going ( and we have to play them at their ground yet ). I just hope we don't jinx ourselves .? Up the city I am sure we can do it ( don't tell anyone )
Fox92 Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 Pearson isn't an idiot. He's been in the game long enough as a player and manager to understand, and I have no doubt he'll have them grounded. People do seem to be getting slightly ahead of themselves, but is there anything massively wrong with that? We can all enjoy being top of the league. On a personal level, I'm excited that we're top of the league but I know this is football. I still remain level and grounded at the minute. If we're in this position in a month though, March pushing April, then that might change!
Oxfordfox83 Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 Not heard any player hinting that it will be anything like a formality. Matty James on the beeb had gone into great detail about how last season hurt and it's still very much all to play for, while saying (rightly) that we can beat anyone if we play well and that we're in a great position. Even on here, most fans are predicting losses for F****t, but putting in justifiably positive terms that we will get back to winning thereafter. We're allowed to get excited, we're 8pts clear. Players should be expecting promotion if they keep up their form, and expect failure if not. False modesty does no one any good, thy need to believe its there for the taking but still to be earned...
MooseBreath Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 Haven't heard a single player or staff member suggesting it's a formality
davieG Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 I think you've been doing too much headline reading. Pearson has made it absolutely clear that he's happy for the players to talk about and embrace the idea of promotion as he doesn't want them to be fearful of the the thought which is probably what happened last year. But no one has indicated anything other than the job is not yet done and it is all still to do.
WhispyWizard Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 Problem is that this is all they are getting asked in interviews, James's interview, Phillips on Sky Sports and Pearson every other week by Stringer. I'm not against positivity, but when radio Leicester are bigging up promotion and discussing who would and wouldn't make it in the prem and who we are buying when we get to the prem like we had already been promoted, it seems really presumptuous.

Well you can't stop the media doing what they do it for every aspect of life provided the players stay grounded that's all you can hope for.
LanguedocFox Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 I really haven't heard any player or any of the coaching staff talking about promotion as if it is a formality - quite the reverse in fact. The media and a small minority of our fans are bigging it up, but most of us know that there's a long way to go. A very long way.
harpendenfox Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 I'm excited and daring to believe, but could not be further away from making assumptions. I can't believe any proper Leicester supporters would be anything other than that

Mjeb Posted 13 February 2014 Author Posted 13 February 2014 Just responding back - konchesky stated he would prefer to finish top , James said similar , RL start asking who we would like sign / who's good enough stay . I am just like every other fan , hoping we make it by going up But we are not up , not nearly up , not almost . Lest hope we can hold it together as team and get across the line as soon as possible . UP the city

UP the city Would you rather they said 8th would be ok? They are being asked questions you want them to say No comment? They all know it's not over and anyone of them that gets carried away thinking we are will have an appointment with NP. All he will say is remember last season.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 I think you should stop talking rubbish, not one single player or staff member has suggested such a thing....
Loggy88 Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 Pearson is one of the most grounded managers in English football and that is why the players will always go out with the right attitude, taking nothing for granted. They need to believe they can do it, then give it everything to make sure the dream becomes the reality we all so badly want. Were a great side in this division and we can see the job through. I think we will.
Dan Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 It's mainly Stringer & Young. The fans have actually been quite level headed in general IMO.
Buzzell Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 It's the norm when your top of the league. It's what happens. At the end of the day it's down to the players to keep focused and level headed about it all, which you would expect under Pearson. There's no problem some fans, even Stringer and Youngy, getting excited about going up. We haven't been in such a strong position in this league for a long time, nothing wrong with enjoying it. WE ARE GOING UP! SAY WE ARE GOING UP! :pearson:
Soar Fox Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 lol Paul Konchesky said "he would prefer to finish top" What else would you want him to say "I know we are top but I wouldn't mind if we finished 7th to be honest"
davieG Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 There's hundreds of websites/reporters/ amateur bloggers out there all looking for something to write about to fill their empty pages they are the problem. Damn these kind of articles annoy me, "With Nigel Pearson’s Leicester City appearing to have the Championship title sown up after opening up an eight point lead over their rivals ...." Its alright lads, don't need to play any more matches because its all sewn up at 67 points apparently!
weller54 Posted 13 February 2014 Posted 13 February 2014 Fact is we need another 7wins,and couple of draws.. That puts us on 90 points, which will be enough for promotion.. Looking at our home fixtures this is extremely achievable!!... I honestly think we will be champions!
Tielemans63 Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 Think what NP actually said was that he didn't want it to be a dirty word but instead wants them to talk openly about promotion. The more belief the boys have the better imho.
