Since Pearson first joined, March has been a crucial month in our seasons (usually in a negative way)

So, since 2009, here is our March record:

2009:

Stockport 1-1

Cheltenham 4-0 (W)

Tranmere 0-2 (L)

Millwall 1-0 (W)

Colchester 1-1

Peterborough 0-2 (L)

8 points from 18 available, two defeats (half of our defeats that season)

2010:

Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 (L)

Cardiff 1-0 (W)

Crystal Palace 1-0 (W)

Coventry 2-2

Reading 1-2 (L)

Derby 0-1 (L)

Cardiff 1-2 (L)

7 points from 21 available

2011:

QPR 0-1 (L)

Norwich 2-3 (L)

Scunthorpe 3-0 (W)

Portsmouth 0-1 (L)

3 points from 12 available

2012:

Coventry 2-0 (W)

Bristol City 2-3 (L)

Reading 1-3 (L)

Birmingham 3-1 (W)

Blackpool 3-3

Hull 2-1 (W)

Nottingham Forest 0-0

Peterborough 0-1 (L)

11 points from 24 available

2013:

Ipswich 0-1 (L)

Leeds 1-1

Sheff Weds 0-1 (L)

Cardiff 1-1

Derby 1-2 (L)

Millwall 0-1 (L)

2 points from 18 available

It's often said that all teams have a bad run in a season, well traditionally in recent years March appears to be our stumbling block. This March we have home matches against Charlton, Blackpool and Yeovil as well as a trip to Barnsley, all games we should be very confident of winning. Burnley and Blackburn away will be very tough to overcome, but you feel if we improve our very poor record in March we should be fine.

Didn't realise it looked that bad.

Can remember that Posh game as well, I think people were freaking out about them maybe catching us.

Means nothing now, we never win away at forest we did last season, we never beat millwall away well we have this season, we never manage to win more than 6 games in a row, well we did this season.

Pearson wasn't manager for us in March 2011.

I know, but still thought I'd include it as we finished February in 7th place.

Didn't O'Neill have a bad March period too?

Yes: in his first season in charge, 30 March was "that" Sheff United match - the one MON always fvcking talks about.

Massive month for us this year. A win on Saturday vs Ipswich and decent March will see us well on our way!

We've got some fixtures that we should expect to win in March as well. Anything less than 10 points would be awful considering the fixtures we have...
