Commentary

heard the stewards saying 'they're just doing they're jobs'.

It sounded like some of the knuckle dragging forest fans were getting their knickers in a twist!  lol

He's got to talk in shorter sentences, while he was explaining some meaningless point we'd scored.

Ian Stringer, if you read this, for the love of God, don't ever leave us again. The dull, mundane tone of his voice overshadowed Mahrez's goal!

You are all moaning about Bourne but for fooks sake the lad only does the commentary once or twice a season. Yes he sounded passive and wasn't great at all but who else is there? Bring back Nev?

I can live with the mistakes. The only thing that really bugs me with Jason is how there is no change in intonation or speed wherever play is on the pitch. It's hard to tell how clear cut a chance is.

Anyway FT come on. He's a young lad with only a few games experience covering for someone with four year experience. Cut him some slack. I actually thought his post match interviews were better than Stringer's even if the commentary was slack. He'll do the Ispwich game and that'll be him for the season anyway, just chill.

I have never understood the Stringer criticism - for local radio level he is one of the best. Unfortunately the voice you are born with has a massive impact on being a commentator and Bourne doesn't have a good one.

5 Live Extra was worth it tonight. They tried their best to be "impartial" but the constant arse-licking of Reid and Patterson told all. Oh, and you could sense the dissapointment each time we scored.

Said it consistently through the match thread, they were a few rows behind Forest fans. There was an early mark placed by Bourne when Alan started mouthing off and he replied with 'steady on'.

Constant referrals to what the Forest fans were saying in front of him meant that he was consciously aware of them. I think that's why he didn't go mental, unlike Alan, who actually got given grief for doing so.

Give him another try against Ipswich, think it's a bit harsh bollocking him for standing in. Surely not the easiest thing to do!

Stringer is a far better commentator than a reporter. I think he could make a good career for himself on television. His weaknesses relate to having to describe the action to people who can't see it.

There is no substitute for passion though. From his first every commentary Stringer showed that he had this. Also the elevation and tone of a commentators voice is so important. In simple terms, if you can't shout, don't be a commentator. Bourne suffers from the same thing Guy Mowbray does. It's a struggle for them to shout.

Bourne may well be a good reporter and interviewer, but he has no talent as a commentator.

I'd be happy for him to give interviews and Stringer to do commentaries.

TBF, that might not be a bad idea. Last time we had him commentating on us v Ipswich we, to quote Mick McCarthy, 'dicked them for 6'.
