The Vardy/Party Thing

We`ve got loads and loads of great songs and chants, wish we had songs for all the players used to be great singing them in the warm up and the players applauding, our fans are among the best at quick witted and cutting retorts to opposition songs, and I love a damn good song, just dislike inane and mindless crap like the Vardy one, the Yuki eating dog one Wayne Brown breaking your leg etc etc, just pure shite.

I read somewhere that lilian Nalis' dad worked for the French intelligence service the DGSE and was one of the operatives found guilty of sinking the Rainbow Warrior in the port of Auckland New Zealand.

"His dad sunk a boat

 His Dad sunk a boat

 lilian Nalis

 His dad sunk a boat"

*Non of this is true*

QPR actually started it with Kenny. And it has context with him which makes it decent.

All our chants these days are copied from other clubs, it's a shame the Don't You Want Me Vardy chant has died because of this rubbish.

It does actually have some relevance to the football. Sky Sports did an investigation into how it became the anthem a few years ago and it's something to do with a local school headmaster and the academy. From what I remember there was a bit of a weird slant to it involving the teacher and young boys...

Something to do with a Catholic priest called bubbles. Bubbles promised the choirboys that he would have a word with God about getting west ham promoted if they, erm, blew his trumpet.

Good thing you're not a Panathanaikos fan then. The (roughly translated) lyrics are:

It’s a magic weed,

Give me a little taste,

To dream of my PAO and shout as far as God:

My Panatha,

I love you,

Like heroin, like a hard drug,

Like hashish, LSD,

For you PAO the whole world is on drugs,

My Panatha, my Panatha,

I love you,

Wherever you play I will always be with you,

PAO here,

PAO there,

Wherever you play,

We will always be together, always together.

Think the party chant gets the atmosphere going very well but it's a shame to see the don't you want me chant dying out as it was pretty unique and I thought it was quality

I actually like the Don't You Want Me chant. Wish we did that more often.

Depends how JV views it

The reason it was sung about Paddy kenny was that he had past with a failed drugs test (I think)

We are giving opposition fans the impression that our Jamie is a renouned piss head and like to snort coke. He might not like that impression, but I'm sure he will take it on the chin. If he was bothered he would probably come out and say stop singing it lol

What do people who are respectful and have a brain think about this?

Maybe I am one of the only ones, But I wouldnt be proud in singing about having a party with coke and charlie..

Just makes our fanbase look pathetic, jumped up and full of wasters..

I know it's only a "Bit of fun"

But it's just embarrassing to listen to for me...

"Let's all make a song about how proud we are to be shouting about parties and drugs"

If My Mrs or my mates were screaming that, I'd be ashamed personally...

Maybe I'm just too mature for my age, Or maybe I have ambitions and don't think this behaviour is normal? :dunno:

Either way I'm sick of hearing it.

Personally IMO the sort of character or personality of a young man, or teenager who openly sings about this sort of thing, Goes out every weekend, jumping about and screaming the song, are the sort of people who end up costing the country more money than they are worth.

Maybe I am looking into this too far.

But you certainly wont catch me singing about "Coke and charlie"

Yeah, you are thinking too much into it, it's just a song ffs.

Some people need to lighten up.

I am costing this country more money than I'm worth because I sing a song that mentions drugs? Jesus Christ mate.

So if you're girlfriend or parents or family member were openly talking about taking drugs or anything in that field, you would be proud?

I am not aiming to descriminate against people personally as I don't know the people singing it..

But I think it just makes our fans look to be a bunch of jumped up children. Honestly I'm embarrassed by the song..

But I have morals so maybe that is the reason.

It's just personal opinion.

The quote about costing the country money, is just a generalisation (That is not relevant to EVERYONE admitedly) of people with the mentality of being proud to sing about coke and charlie, Generally those people who find it "Clever" or are "Proud" to be asociated with that scene, Generally end up being more trouble than they are worth.

Not many respectful or successful people jump around at raves, or sing about coke and charlie and present themselves in that way.

However this song and the people singing it, Give the impression of a bunch of jumped up morons. The sort of people who play with pyros etc..

Like I said, personal preference.

But I have high morals, and like to think of myself as a respectable person. And quite frankly? I look down on the people who generalise themselves with the masses, drugs and alcohol. I would happily talk to anybody and have a laugh with our fans don't get me wrong.

So Like I said, Sing what you want, but personally? I am embarresed by some of our fans who proudly sing about this sort of stuff.

Just as a harmless example, You are walking down the street in your town/City and you see a group of youthes, track suits on, burberry hats on, nike air max and trousers tucked into their socks... Just lounging around the streets..

what would you honestly think about them?

The majority would think Damaged?, Wasters? Even scum?

So why associate yourselves with that scene during a football match?

I certainly wouldnt sing about it and be proud...

Petty maybe, However you can normally tell a lot about a persons mentality or characteristics by how they act.

decent song and a laugh, don't get the problem

I think for me it's the mentality of the song, Normally says alot about the people singing it proudly.

Just my opinion and I won't stop anyone singing it haha, Do whatever makes people happy but I wouldnt be proud of the song anyway...

Posted

Don't get it really.

Can't imagine he has a problem with it because there is no context - which makes it all the more daft.

He is just unfortunate enough to have the right number of syllables in his name

The fact that you think those types of people are associated with cocaine tells me you live a very sheltered life.

Come off it. Football must be for everyone. Regardless of the clothes they wear or what they do in the spare time, whether you would associate with them or not.

No one is planning to tiptoe through the Trent End with a sawn-off shotgun, no one is going to get there heads kicked in when they walk down Filbert Street. Football songs are almost all meaningless.

Removing all questionable act references, what would you have us sing for 90 minutes?

Again... without wanting to respond to everyone (Because the subject is not really that important, for the sake of a small opinion, I'm not going to argue)

The mentality of the song suggests low morals.

IMO.

I have morals, I don't want to be associated with drugs or the party scene. So I won't sing it.

That's catchy as hell!
