Stadt Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 I think it's almost good to see, he's clearly passionate.
purpleronnie Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 I bet he would have been sacked if they had lost that game.
Corky Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 Didn't see it until Match of the Day, listened to 606 and you've have thought Pardew had done serious damage like a broken nose or something, not a fairly mild tap as headbutts go. And credit Meyler for not going down? Credit a player for not falling over when contact wasn't enough to knock someone over? Give him a fine and a ban, same as a player. Sack him? No chance.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 Any excuse. Any excuse. I love the allegedy putting his head in.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 but I personally think its, ok he shouldn't have done it but its brilliant to see passion and desire and old school style fight I really hope you're trolling.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 On a side note how many players who played for us were playing in this game? I saw Savage Dublin Clemence Horsfield Hendrie Vassell and Gudjohnnsen. Just checked Stefan Moore and Jamie Clapham as well!
Les-TA-Jon Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Found it weird that Meyler has come out of this looking good. He deliberately pushed the opposition manager. Imagine if he'd done that against a more respected manager, such as Ferguson? I don't think the media would be congratulating him.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I remember when Zinedine Zidane pushed Marco Materazzi away with his head. There was a big fuss then too.

Dan Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 Vertonghen's actions in midweek were 10 times as bad as this. Of course he's unpunished. "He had an excuse to go down"
Brainy Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 The rules are a joke. I don't like Pardew at all and I think what he did, knowing the consequences, was ridiculous. But is anyone seriously trying to say that what he did was THAT bad? Over-hyped nonsense. I was very disappointed in what I saw given the reaction to it. Was hoping for more of a Zidane style. Anyone saying that he should be let off, or have a reduced punishment because they reckon it shows passion is a disabled.
Dan Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 http://www.football365.com/john-nicholson/9194449/20-Things-We-Really-Do-Want-To-See-Actually Spot on. Best article I've read in absolutely ages. I never have, and never will buy that simulation is acceptable. I know I've just mentioned it but look at Zozulya/Vertonghen in midweek. Take off the mainstream tinted glasses - who is seriously in the wrong there? Zozuyla who has put his head towards an opponent after being in a bit of 'argy bargy', or Vertonghen who has literally pretended to have been hurt to cheat? The fact the majority of people actually seem to defend Vertonghen absolutely riles me. I was very disappointed in what I saw given the reaction to it. Was hoping for more of a Zidane style. Anyone saying that he should be let off, or have a reduced punishment because they reckon it shows passion is a disabled. Same. I'll admit I bought it big time and I thought.. just wow, Pardew is a nob (and I stand by that still, he's an excuse-making moron) bit is that worthy of a £100k fine? Really? That's a joke.

That's a joke. not seen the particular incident but if its anything klike others ive seen they should both be sent off and banned for 3 games. Both actions are unacceptable and we should be trying to remove them from the game with such punishment, even if its retrospective.
