broughtonblue Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 Can't remember when I last heard this chant. Where have they gone? Did they actually exist? Was it just a way of blaming bad performances on somebody else? Is it because Nigel sits in the stands now, so not berating them? Anyway wherever they might be, they can bloody stay there!
Matt Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 We coincidently, generally don't get shit refs when we are winning. Seems I kinda had a point last season and previous season. I must say though, it's nice not arguing about it this season.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 It was a shit ref that sent Matty James off at Charlton away early on in this season.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 The ref yesterday was a lovely little porker, and I'm going to eat the fat little bastard
Bettsj2 Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 We generally dont put ourselves in a position for a crap decision to be given against us anymore. The refs are still shit they just dont get a chance to show it.

I must say though, it's nice not arguing about it this season. Not even close. We still get shit refs, but when they aren't costing us we're more willing to let it slide with muttered grumbles of "what is this ref on? Utter crap" rather than outright hostility.
Monsell1976 Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 The ref and his linesman yesterday were very poor, I.e ball clearly hitting their players before going out, on more than one occasion, but they got the throwing. Vardy was off side for the first, so the standard of refereeing has still been poor, but hasn't cost us anything, so nobody is moaning.
Bert Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 The ref yesterday was very much "I'm the ref" make sure you remember that.
ousefox Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 The Championship is still full of them (just look at how one ruined the game for Derby yesterday in arguably their biggest game of the season). We have just been too good for them to make a difference or just advantaged from a couple of their shit decisions ourselves. Powell was saying our first goal was offside yesterday - I thought it was strange how they didn't show the replay. Obviously people aren't going to come on here and just moan about the refs when we're winning, although that has still happened a couple of times this season which says a lot.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 When you get a bad ref and you win, no one cares.
lancyclaret Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 There are still some terrible refs - that Bobby Madley who reffed our game on Saturday is one of the worst. Before Saturday, he had reffed us twice this season - we lost 2-0 at home to West Ham to two late dodgy penalties and then in the 4-3 FA Cup defeat at Southampton when Saints 3rd goal was an obvious foul on the keeper. Perhaps Dyche told Madley he "owed us one" so he sent off Martin. The sending-off was very harsh but Derby started the rough stuff and Martin committed 3 nasty fouls before the first yellow (one was an elbow in Shackell's face plus Martin has a reputation for diving). I was dreading Saturday's game because one of the linesmen and the fourth official each wrongly red-carded Trippier in previous matches. Have you ever had Madley or his equally incompetent brother, Andy?

Have you ever had Madley or his equally incompetent brother, Andy? Yes we've had Robert Madley. One of the most arrogant refs around. Think he's reffed is twice this season. Gave a right dodgy penalty for Brighton against us. The worst refs we've had this year have been "premiership" refs. Mason at home v Forest who thought he was the star of the show, and Taylor away v Forest who is another that's arrogant. Deadman away v Charlton was that bad he prompted Pearson and Shakespeare to confront him on the pitch at full time. That's how bad he was, I've never ever seen either of them do that. You had to be there to believe it. In recent seasons, Gavin Ward at home to MIddlesborough was the worst we had that season (See "my mate is the ref tonight" in the classic thread archive) and Andrew Haines away to Middlesborough that season was just as horrific. Best ref around at the minute is Michael Oliver.
LCFC1996 Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Deadman at Charlton was an absolute joke, defies belief how bad he was that day. Too many ref's seem to think they're the 'star of the show'.

Best ref around at the minute is Michael Oliver. Yes, Lee Mason is dreadful and D'Urso is pretty bad when he has reffed us. I agree Deadman is another terrible ref but he is usually terrible for both teams. I expect Burnley will get another "bad'un" at Blackburn in next match - at Ewood last year, he allowed Blackburn a 94th-minute equaliser by Dunn who was standing 4 yards offside.
lancyclaret Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Brown (I think he is from Hull, East Yorkshire) is another who Burnley always have trouble with. I don't think Yorkshire refs should officiate Lancashire matches.

The refs like him that are in the premier league one week then championship the next are the worst and most arrogant, similar to Anthony Taylor and Jon Moss
Corky Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 The one on Saturday was poor in the second half, we just had to touch a Charlton player for him to give a free-kick.
Lionator Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Referee's have generally had good games this season for us and that's not just because we've been winning. We've been getting higher standard of FL referees due to our position. Two examples would be David Coote who did the Derby game at home and had a fantastic game and Steve Martin who did the Boro game at home who despite being possibly sold down the sh*tter by his linesman once, had an excellent match given the conditions. These guys are likely to be on the PL within 1-2 years.
lancyclaret Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Think we should adopt American football and have an official in a TV replay booth to decide on any controversial, game-changing decisions. Two challenges should be allowed for each team.
iamafox Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Well in my mind, we always get shit refs no matter whether we win, lose or draw. Since I'm no fan of referees, I never admit that they've had a good game.
