Buzzell Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Good, the lad has been brilliant this year. Hope for more to come from him.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 The panel will go for the lad who would be invisible in half of games (espeically the big ones against half decent opposition) if he wern't an albino.
lcfcfan23 Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 think moore could nick this, especially if we go up. hughes has been class though
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Liam's been terrific for us but, having seen a fair bit of Derby this season, I think Hughes has been better, certainly terms of importance to the respective teams. He and Bryson have combined superbly in their midfield. That said, they weren't so clever against Millwall at the weekend. Bryson really makes Derby tick, just as Marney does at Burnley.
sdb Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Hughes will win, and rightly so. WOuld love Moore to get it though - some list of past winners!
sphericalfox Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Given the list of previous winners and what they've gone on to do (except the Nooge), let's hope Hughes wins it.
DennisNedry Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 How can Moore win it when he's not been playing?
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Great for Liam to be in the shortlist, and I think even if I weren't a Leicester fan I'd say he has to be a shoe in. To be so composed and level-headed at his age speaks volumes, he's almost captain material and makes some outstanding contributions For all that though, there's Will Hughes' hype. I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Granted I don't watch him every week but from what I've seen of him this season he's looked very normal (besides his albinism). Just seems to be another one of those players whose name gets banded around by enough people in the media that people take notice and watch a player they already assume is good without really having any substance behind the claims
lgfualol Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 That Hughes will win it. Every time I've seen him he's been really shit. If Moore wins then it'll be amazing.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 From the bits and pieces I've seen of Hughes he looks incredibly overrated.
65RosesFox Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Liam thoroughly deserves his nomination, however far too many bias people on here. None of us can say who deserves to win it as none of us have seen all the nominations play week in week out, only Liam. I'm sure regardless if he wins it or not it's not going to affect him in any way in years to come and he'll be a top Premier League defender and an England regular.
Wink Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 To be fair, to be even listed as a defender is some achievement. Take for example the Ballon d'or, if my memory serves me right only Fabio Cannavaro has won that was not an attacker of some sort. Defenders rarely get the praise they deserve and attackers take all the plaudits week in, week out and especially when it comes to giving out individual awards. Liam may not win it, but it does show he is getting some recognition for some excellent performances this season hence the interest from Premier League clubs too. So congratulations Liam, well done and let's hope you continue to progress in the same manner you have done thus far. P.S. Will Hughes is over rated!!
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 Hughes has never really shone in games against us but he's put in some terrific shifts in other games. He's only 18 so his performance levels understandably vary. I disagree that he's over-rated (but he's a long way off the finished article) and I think some of the media hype about him is what he has the potential to turn into. I think Liam's a real talent and he might end up being a better player than Hughes - although it's not that easy to quantify given they're in different positions. At times this season I've looked at Hughes and gone "wow" because he can do some terrific stuff.
Agent Fox Posted 10 March 2014 Posted 10 March 2014 The winners list is quite impressive. Just to be nominated is a brilliant achievement.
Papasmurf Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Watching sky sports news last night and this was a rolling news item at the bottom of the screen. Will Hughes had his very own page. Poor Liam was an afterthought sharing his small section of the news with Pritchard.
foxer Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Does anyone have any insight as to what Will Hughes has achieved this year at all? I'm struggling to find anything of note online. The Sky Sports write up mentions him winning young player of the month in November 2012 - so not this year. Every time I've seen him I've thought he was lightweight and bang average, so where does the Will Hughes love come from? This article for example talks of him being some kind of hero: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2533327/Will-Hughes-10-things-need-know-Championships-hottest-star.html But why? Someone? Derby Fans?
HoustonFox Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 If Don Goodman has his say then Will Hughes will win it this season...and next season...and the season after that.
Stadt Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Will Hughes is rated by Premier league plastic fans who have watched him once. He's well known and the media faun over him so he's the obvious choice. Liam has been colossus at centre back and played well at right back but he's not playing currently so that won't help. Pritchard looks good from the highlights that I've seen but he plays in League 1. Hughes has it in the bag.
Mark_w Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 It's getting obsessive now. I know, right? What kind of freak gets that obsessed with a footballer? Weirdo.
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 I know, right? What kind of freak gets that obsessed with a footballer? Weirdo. I think it's acceptable when it's a member of your own team. What kingfox is doing is the footballing equivalent of bestiality. It ain't right.
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Hughes will get it. Fook knows why. Everytime I've seen him he's very average. Moore should win it. He's been superb
