nlukka Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Right, this thread is based on a number of assumptions, but I'm in a bit of a pickle. If we do win the league, will we definitely be presented with the trophy on this day? Or could it be earlier if we win it in advance of the final day? I need to catch a flight from Birmingham airport at 17.25 on Saturday 03.05 but before I book I'm a bit dubious as to whether I can get to the airport on time. My caclulations are that by the time the players come off the pitch, the stage set-up, players come back out etc it will be up to an hour after the final whistle before we receive the trophy. In which case it would be approximately 15.15, and it will take ages getting away from the stadium anyway. At which point, my chances of getting to Birmingham airport in time for my flight start looking a bit sketchy. I can't remember how long it took against Scunthorpe when we won League 1 - was it about an hour? I remember rushing back to the station after the game to get the last train home, and don't want to be in that position again this year. There's no way I'm missing out on the trophy presentations, and I'm prepared to forego my holiday if need be, but ideally I'd love to do both if possible. So, whilst I'm sure this thread is like asking how long is a piece of string, can anyone give an informed opinion of as to the order of the day? (Also, just to add that this is a rather nice dilemma to find myself in!)
nlukka Posted 13 March 2014 Author Posted 13 March 2014 Change your flight! Not an option, I'm afraid. I should have added that I'll already be missing 1 day of the holiday as everyone else is flying out on the Friday. If I don't get that flight on the Saturday I can't go at all.
Fox92 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Yes this is a nice dilemma for you, and while we all love to see Leicester pick up a trophy, I wouldn't chance it for a flight at all. It's not as if you're going somewhere small either, it's Birmingham we're talking about.
NewquayFox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 I will be flying to the Algarve when we are playing Huddersfield and i fly back when we are playing Doncaster, no problem as we will have been crowned Champions well before these games..... ;0)
ousefox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 I wouldn't miss the holiday for a trophy presentation - the game will probably be a bit dull if it isn't competitive too. I'm worried about missing the game where we clinch promotion. Go away on the Weds after the Brighton game early and can't get a train back to York in the evening
Bluearmy 316 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 It will be last game of the season it was about an hour against Scunthorpe but this time I think it will be longer I think the fans will be on the pitch this time so could be even longer

HA!
Guest MattP Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Is a trophy presentation really that important? I'm intending to be on the pitch then as soon as we are shifted off be getting back to the pub to crack the champagne open. Certainly not worth risking missing a flight for anyway.

Go away on the Weds after the Brighton game early and can't get a train back to York in the evening Yeah the game probably will be a bit of a damp squib but I know I'd feel gutted to not be there for the presentation. I've commuted back from London for every home game for last couple of years, just seems a shame to then miss out on the final day. My friends actually think I'm bonkers to miss a holiday for it! I also hope the Brighton game isn't the one we clinch promotion, it would be a complete nightmare for me to get home afterwards.

svensson Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 You can get to birmingham airport in 50mins door to door, easy journey, m69,m6,m42.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 You can get to birmingham airport in 50mins door to door, easy journey, m69,m6,m42. Not taking into account football traffic though, and every other side will be playing, so roads may be a little busy.
kyleolly Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Would you not have to check in for a 17.25 a couple of hours beforehand so would have no chance in getting to the airport by then or am i missing something?

Agent Fox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 I booked a few days away in Rome with the missus, realised I'd miss the pitch invasion and presentation so changed the dates! Commitment.
Tommy G Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 Would a trophy presentation be the last game of the season or the day we got crowned champions?
Bert Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 Bare in mind that should we go up as champions the game will probably be on Sky so there's a likelihood you'll still see the lifting of it.
Guest Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 I booked a few days away in Rome with the missus, realised I'd miss the pitch invasion and presentation so changed the dates! Commitment. Commitment is watching games when we are a poor team and losing. Watching your team waltz to the league title is something that rarely happens for fans.
blue army 1988 Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 You dont want to miss conrad logan playing his 1 game a season.
