Which players of the current squad will be moved-on if we get promotion?

I would be disgusted if we get rid of Lloyd Dyer Col

I think for me the future looks a bit bleak for St Ledger, Futacs, Danns, Gallagher, Waghorn and possibly Logan

Think we should keep GTF personally for one more season (at least)

Phillips like you say player coach perhaps

Polish lad deserves another year aswell

Ultimately the whole squad deserves a pat on the back if/when we get the job done (of promotion)

Deeney is the exact kind of character Pearson wouldn't want in the dressing room.

Not sure about that, he comes across as a decent commited guy, prison sentence aside.

Wouldn't be surprised if we did go for him tbh.

Whilst accepting that you pose a valid question and understanding that the management will already be planning ahead for next season can't we just let the players enjoy the moment without telling them that some of them aren't good enough?

But equally...why shouldn't the OP start the discussion if that's what he wants to do? None of us is 'telling' the players anything. It's our forum, not their work performance appraisal.

That must mean he only has 3 appearances here from now till season's end then.

I would hope that we make 5 or 6 sognings that demote our present first teamers to backups. We certainly shouldn't be relying on this squad to keep us in the Prem next year.

Mahrez and Knocky look okay for the prem

James and Drinks look okay for the prem

Kasper, James, Morgan, De Laet and Schlupp  are probably alright but I wouldn't be against an upgrade

Vardy maybe but if he is in the first team then we need a killer striker to be alongside him.

Nuge, Dyer, King, Wasyl all should become squad rotation players or if considered too old let go.

Wood has been injured this year so I can understand the reluctance to play him. We'll probably see him in the last few games and he's certainly a keeper for the squad.

Konch is only a backup player now (if that in the prem).

I think it dépends heavily on who we can sign.

My first choice is a killer striker to feed off our midfield and wing play.

So basically, you want to change half the first team if we get promoted.

I can see why you might think that's a good idea, but I have to say I disagree. I also don't think it's likely to happen - I think NP will want to keep the core of the team the same.

As far as I can see, we need a new left-back, a winger and a striker for the first team. I'd rather we concentrate our resources on improving our strength in those areas - if we go up, we'll spend some money but I think people are getting carried away if we think NP is going to be handed a blank cheque...

I think we will keep hold of Wood, but maybe loan him to a championship team that will play him every game.

Gtf, st ledger, whitbread, danns, futacs can all go, most people wouldnt even notice most of those left the club. Reckon he'll keep Hammond.

Our squad doesn't need a complete revamp. We need to move on players who we don't use like St Ledger, Whitbread, Danns etc.

I can't see Nigel signing more than 4 or 5 players, and I'm sure they'll be of a very high quality. He's consistently made it clear that

he won't add players unless they add to what we already have. And with that in mind, our current crop are very good, so any additions will have

to be of a very high standard.

I think it's more about where can NP strengthen the current squad, can't see him splashing the big money, even if it is available, he obviously has his list of wants but even players on this list must come at the right price and right wages, only when he knows he has strenthened the squad will he let anyone go. If he rates Wood as his 4th choice he must get another 1/2 in before letting him go. Obviously any player out of contract can take that decision away from NP.

Think Phillips will stay and even GTF & Hammond, good premier league experience and if we settle down after a couple of matches maybe even loan them out.

I think this is where we'll see what plans the thai's have. I also think Nigel will stay quite sensible but I sense there's going to be serious dough available and i'd not be surprised to see him put under pressure to splash out. If he refuses to then we might see trouble ahead. I'd like to think Pearson has it all worked out though, their meticulousness impresses me and I bet we've been tracking a higher calibre of player for several months now.

I’d keep GTF… I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how good he has been from the bench. Also surprised to learn that he’s only 32. If he can suck in his gut a bit when Pearson is walking by he might get a new contract.

I’d like to keep Waghorn but I doubt he’ll be retained…

What about Conrad Logan tho? Kasper is likely to be busy next season… If he gets injured or suspended are we gonna let Logan have 3 or so games against some of the best strikers in the World? Yikes.

players to keep in my opinion. either starters or back up for the prem

kasper - logan

de laet - morgan -  moore - was - konchesky - schlupp

knocky - mahrez - dyer - DD - james - king

vardy - nuge - wood

that is 17 players

8 signings would make up the 25 man squad

GK x 1

RB x 1

CB x 1

LB x 1

Winger x 1

CM x 1

Forward x 2

Signings either better than we already have or good quality bench players.

The rest of the squad can go out on loan/be sold. Or in super kevs case become a coach.

If we can get £1 million for wood-we should sell. Whitbread, SSL, waggy etc... Will obviously go. I'd keep Hammond and konch as squad players (to play cup games) for their experiance and to give guidance to the younger players.

Edit: can't believe the people who are saying that we might get rid of dyer!! It would be madness-he is the ideal impact sub for the prem.

Col is Mahrez still on your 'maybe' list?? :)

I think Dyer will stay as he's a good and loyal squad player.

Agree that Chris Wood may be the biggest casualty. But think Pearson will keep most of the squad together. Our squad picks itself at the moment.

Here's one to put out there: What about Troy Deeney as a signing to replace Wood?? Strength is one thing that our front partnership lacks... He'd add an extra dimension that we currently don't have.

Could we forgive him for THAT goal!

I think the main issue is can he be forgiven for basically being a massive ****, the answer to that is a resounding NO

I'm exercising my forum right to say that I CBA to explain my view again.

I think we're getting complacent.

We need a much better team to do any more than survive in the Prem.

I want to see 5 or 6 new players that can step into the first team and lift us to another level.

As much as we love this lot we'll end up shipping an average 3 goals a game ;)

Problem with Wood is that at the moment he's still all just potential. He looked on fire when he first joined us and without a doubt if had an extended run of games in the side then he would come good again. However, his style of play doesn't suit the way we play this season, he's not dynamic enough and doesn't cause enough problems in behind like Nugent and Vardy do, we don't need someone up top who looks to hold the ball up.

I think that one of either him or Nugent will go at the end of the season, most likely him due to his sell on value and the fact that Nugent still offers a lot to the side & the dressing room. The way Nugent's performed this season means he deserves a crack at the big time Wood doesn't.

Think we know which players are definitely moving on next season, this contract situation has actually gone in favour for us (assuming Kasper doesn't leave) considering the position we are in.

Wood is a 50/50 shout. He adds finishing, strength and potential to the side but lacks energy and form going into the season. The fact he has to cross the entire globe every couple of months hardly helps either. Personally I would keep him.

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson already has his Premier League transfer plans in place.

The Foxes look certain to end a decade-long absence from the top flight as they lead the Sky Bet Championship by seven points and have a 17-point cushion over the team in third place with 11 matches remaining.

Pearson insists he has been planning for Premier League football since returning to the club from Hull City two-and-a-half years ago, and that the Foxes already have transfer targets in mind.

"I think it would be a bit naive to think that you get yourself into a position where you look like going up and then start planning for that eventuality," Pearson told the Leicester Mercury.

"It doesn't work like that. We have been planning for different scenarios. You have to do that.

"You have to know the targets and be ready to move on potential targets. Otherwise you won't get a lot.

"We plan for the different scenarios all the time. Even last season we were planning for different scenarios, and you work within the scenario you are in.

"It is always difficult to strike that balance but you can't just all of a sudden start planning for next season. It is an ongoing process.

"It would be nice to have the scenario we want. To do that, we have to get through 11 games and win enough points. It is always more satisfying to do the job ourselves."
