lancyclaret Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Well played Leicester - fully deserved win and I expect you to seal promotion and the title in the next couple of weeks. With the injuries, I hope we can do enough to hold on to second place and get the chance to play you again next season. I am sure you will cope with the Vardy injury better than we can cope with Vokes's absence. His injury was more of a blow to me than the defeat. You can still do us a couple of favours by getting a result at Wigan on Tuesday and seeing off QPR at your place. Aim for the 100 plus points. Our unbeaten home record had to end sooner or later - I'm just glad it was to a top side and not a team near the bottom.

Number 6 Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 So very happy with the result and performance. Thought we were superior in all areas and showed why we will be crowned champions. Thought Knocky was superb. They did have some key players out, which of course made it easier (although Marney's absence was his own doing), but not sure how there can be any complaints about the referee from them. The Burnley fans that have been on here in past weeks seem a thoroughly decent bunch and so I really do hope they come up with us. Didn't like Dyche's comments mind. He is right about the gulf in money to spend but the sly little dig just after being resoundly beaten was unnecessary and made him look classless imo. Shame because I really liked him before: he was very harshly treated at Watford and his Burnley side really are excellent. They have enough to see the job through I think.

I am sure we will do our best to beat both, double ton has to be our target now and I do feel for you losing key players at this time, it's such a shame your manager can't give credit to Pearson for what he has achieved, still with an easier run in you should just about make it.
Guest Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 The idea that you can set up a side that will never let in a goal, even against the top of the league, is not realistic. Up to last weekend we had the best defence in the division, statistically at least, but we had let goals in - even with Ings and Vokes playing up front. And I promise you, having good forwards really does help the defence, if only because the oppponents have to be more defensive to cope with them. As for a midfield that the players it had all season except Marney - the midfield is two men, Jones and Marney. Half of them were missing. And our best winger, Arfield, had to move inside to cover, so even if you count wingers as midfield, we were still 50% down. And as you people who don't like talking about money never fail to remind us, you've got a lot more players (for some reason) than we have. PS - I'm a bit disappointed to find no fewer than three different Leicester fans on this thread making obscene personal remarks about Sean Dyche's mother. Obviously there are disgusting people follow every club, but it does somewhat detract from the "Dyche has no class" theme. You were easily beaten. Don't come on the opposition's forum with excuses. Own it and move on. You are still well positioned to finish second, just not good enough for first. Hi, I am new to the forum. I was at the Burnley game yesterday with my brother and whilst the stadium and facilities could be classed as retro (if we were being kind) it didn't spoil the atmosphere of the game. The fans were exceptional and the sea of blue from the t shirts was magnificent. I thought it was a great touch from the club to provide breakfast as well as the shirts. I am not sure if anyone else on here travelled on coach 5 yesterday but I wanted to say a huge thanks to the guys on there. Particularly those at the back for the constant entertainment on the way home, really made the day end as well as it had begun. Welcome to the forum. Send a full length picture and your phone number to my inbox - every new member has to do it. Yes, they are. When's the last time you checked the league table? Up until yesterday, we were separated by three points only. No they're not. They are below us in the league and just got soundly beaten 2-0 at their own ground. Clearly we are the better team. Will it make us so much better than them if we beat Wigan and Sheff.Wed and are then 12 points ahread of them on Friday night? Your logic is wrong.

Kitchandro Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Just read this from one of their forums: They'd love Nugent back playing for them. What a fvcking dumbass.
Claretforever Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I haven't read this full thread, because I can't be arse really, but have skim read from page 9. Forgive the long response please. Leicester were the better side on Saturday, by far in my eyes. It's not your fault that we had our 4 best players out (3 + Vokes on 2 mins)for various reasons. You can only beat what's put in front of you, and you did. Your fans were also brilliant as well, I must admit. What you can't do is blame Dyche for his post match comments. He congratulated you, but made mention of your money because he's obviously gutted at being without his star men for such an important match. I knew beforehand (I think I said on here) that we'd take a draw. Even that was a long shot having Ings, Trippier and Marney out. We have played 4-4-2 all season, every game, and when Vokes went off we had to go 4-5-1, playing a utility at RB, a winger in centre midfield, and a centre back in centre midfield. We have a very small squad, one that has absolute quality in the first 11, then then not much after that. What do you want Dyche to say, "no comment", or "they won, well done"? He was asked for his opinion and gave it. That doesn't take anything from your win but you do have more resources than us. You've been able to use 36 players this season. Compare that with Burnley who have been able to use 23, and 3 of those were development squad appearances when we were desperate so, in effect, 20. Forget what you've spent on your squad this season, you've lost £79m over 3 years. That says that you're spending more than you've got coming in, so speculating to get promotion effectively. Well done because it's worked...eventually, but it's a completely different financial planet to Burnley, so what's the harm in someone mentioning that? On our website, some of your fans have been on saying that we're "bitter" in defeat. When in reality, we've all said we were beaten by a much better side, but it would have been a different game had we had all of our players available. Again, what's wrong with saying that? One player might not make too much difference but 4, when you don't have ready replacements, surely does?
Woollett's Wellies Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Claretforever. You'll always get people who'll take Dyche's comments in the way they have. My view was that his statement was entirely focused on Burnley for the obvious reason that he knows people will start to get very worried because you'd suffered a reverse. Take it from me, you should have seen the reaction amongst some of our fans when we drew against Yeovil! He knows you have a busy period when you won't have your top players available and nerves are going to be an issue with players, fans and the Directors. I took it as such and so couldn't care less what he said. I'm sure the criticism from our fans was largely driven by hearing Nigel Pearson's interview which was much more 'statesman like' and magnanomous, but then we'd just beaten our nearest rivals on their own ground so he could be couldn't he? Personally, I think you've been fantastically consistent all season and even given the current injuries will go up. QPR and Derby just don't have that organisation and consistency. Financially. Well, it's a long story with us but to cut it short, we are very fortunate in having owners who have been willing to finance the club and have recently consolidated their debt into equity in the club. This does mean there's been money to have deeper quality in our squad but I'd question your statistics as to the size of our squad or the number of players played. As you say, you've currently got injury problems which mean you couldn't put your A team out and it probably would have been a tighter contest if you had but I'll take any advantage I can! I've no doubt we'll see you next season in the promised land.

One player might not make too much difference but 4, when you don't have ready replacements, surely does? I can get on with a lot of what you say, the comparisons in squad depth from some of our fans is pretty harsh. To say Schlupp and martin Wasilewski aren't first choice at the minute is just blatantly incorrect, Schlupp is keeping an available Konchesky out and whilst he has had far from a bad season Paul has been one of the weaker areas in the first team this season, Wasilewski like wise is there on merit keeping out Liam Moore. If you were to remove Nugent, Vardy, Drinkwater and De Laet from out starting eleven against your strongest XI I'm pretty sure we would of lost the game. But this money thing is extremely irritating, Sven spent a lot of money, Pearson did not, 3 free's, De Laet and James were £750,000 each as they were jointly bought for 1.5. Drinkwater was fairly small change I think, Mahrez was 350k. It's not a small Championship budget I will admit but we spend less than a number of the other big hitters, I don't ever remember us waxing 8 Million on Jordan Rhodes, or signing 9 ex Prem strikers on silly wagers throughout the season as every reject we've bought has failed ot do a job for us. We're a good example of how to set your stall out in this league, much like yourselves, it's not like you've never spent 7 figures on a player either I will add. EDIT: Also you have to remember that 79 Mil has a lot more to it than simply players, we've got old debts and recently bought back the King Power for about 30 Mil. Alot of that 79 Mil has been used to try and secure the future of the club not buy big name players
dsr-burnley Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I was told by a Leicester fan after the game that Wood gets paid £25k per week, and he isn't the only one. Is that not true, then? Because if it is, then Pearson's spending a lot of money.

Because if it is, then Pearson's spending a lot of money. There are nothing but rumours around who earns what at our club. It's not published. So how he'd know that I don't know. But I've never herd of Wood being on that much ever, if you believe the rumour mill our highest paid player is Nugent (again, signed under Sven) on about 20. But then he was a free transfer so cost nothing in the first place.

Because if it is, then Pearson's spending a lot of money. There were comments about how when we signed Wood instead of Millwall we managed to keep edging them out by a thousand each time a wage was offered, so I doubt Millwall were offering +£20k a week in wages.
dsr-burnley Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I presume the accounts are at Companies House by now - anyone know how much your wages were? I know they weren't the whole cause of the £32m loss. Is there a public link to the accounts anywhere? I'm an accountant, I'm interested in that sort of thing.

I should imagine our total wage output would be somewhere, it wont break it down by player. Although I'll tell you now it wont be the highest in the league by a distance.

I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for but does have some 'hack and bash' figures. The success of Nigel Pearson in reducing the wages figure isn't really shown in the financial year figures as most of the big earners have been moved on during the 2013-2014 financial year so currently the wage bill would be significantly less. http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Leicester-City-confident-meeting-FFP-despite/story-20749866-detail/story.html
Leicesterpool Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I'd imagine Woods on 10 -15 myself. I'd say 20k at most! It's hard to believe though we were supposedly paying players like Jermaine Beckford £40k a week! At the moment i think our highest earner is probably Kasper, he needed alot of convincing to leave Leeds i believe.
