Burnley Post Match Thread 0 - 2

I was told by a Leicester fan after the game that Wood gets paid £25k per week, and he isn't the only one.  Is that not true, then?  Because if it is, then Pearson's spending a lot of money.

I remember him saying in an interview that Millwall offered him more money. I doubt he's on that,as he was signed under Pearson. Does he not mean Nugent?

Burnley fans. Even Leicester fans. Wood goal was it a push on Duff or sheet strength the latter for me.

For me the answer is the reaction of the two Burnley defenders who were up with Wood when he recieved the ball and shot. Absolutely no appeal at all from either of them. For evidence watch the video. I could watch it time and time again!

Burnley fan I've argued with on twitter seems to think its a foul and they should have had two penalties however in the lead up to the two penalties Schlupp? Gets pushed in the back.

I presume the accounts are at Companies House by now - anyone know how much your wages were?   I know they weren't the whole cause of the £32m loss.  Is there a public link to the accounts anywhere?  I'm an accountant, I'm interested in that sort of thing.

Why does it worry you?

You're at best the second best team in the division. Accept it , move on.

Wages mean nothing.

Schlupp gets pushed and the ball is headed on to his arm when he's facing away from play. if that is intentional Schlupp must have eyes in the back of his head or radar.

You've been able to use 36 players this season. Compare that with Burnley who have been able to use 23, and 3 of those were development squad appearances when we were desperate so, in effect, 20.

I'm not going to take issue with the rest of your post, but 36? That's total bollocks lol

Ummm. They do seem to get excited about the supposed hand ball incident. For me the Burnley player heads the ball downwards as Schlupp is fouled and that's what the ref blows for. Simultaneously the ball hits James but the whistle as already gone. Free kick to City. But then I was watching on Sky and stand to be corrected by anyone actually present. I should add. Have you seen how close to Schlupp the Burnley player is?

Considering Vardy was blatently held for a penalty they cancel one another out. What is it with people who argue about penalties that aren't given? Ref doesn't give them, they didn't happen. Move on, nothing to see here.

You are starting to sound a little bitter and twisted and surely a decent accountant would know how to find such details

I haven't read this full thread, because I can't be arse really, but have skim read from page 9. Forgive the long response please.

Leicester were the better side on Saturday, by far in my eyes. It's not your fault that we had our 4 best players out (3 + Vokes on 2 mins)for various reasons. You can only beat what's put in front of you, and you did. Your fans were also brilliant as well, I must admit.

What you can't do is blame Dyche for his post match comments. He congratulated you, but made mention of your money because he's obviously gutted at being without his star men for such an important match. I knew beforehand (I think I said on here) that we'd take a draw. Even that was a long shot having Ings, Trippier and Marney out. We have played 4-4-2 all season, every game, and when Vokes went off we had to go 4-5-1, playing a utility at RB, a winger in centre midfield, and a centre back in centre midfield.

We have a very small squad, one that has absolute quality in the first 11, then then not much after that. What do you want Dyche to say, "no comment", or "they won, well done"? He was asked for his opinion and gave it. That doesn't take anything from your win but you do have more resources than us. You've been able to use 36 players this season. Compare that with Burnley who have been able to use 23, and 3 of those were development squad appearances when we were desperate so, in effect, 20.

Forget what you've spent on your squad this season, you've lost £79m over 3 years. That says that you're spending more than you've got coming in, so speculating to get promotion effectively. Well done because it's worked...eventually, but it's a completely different financial planet to Burnley, so what's the harm in someone mentioning that?

On our website, some of your fans have been on saying that we're "bitter" in defeat. When in reality, we've all said we were beaten by a much better side, but it would have been a different game had we had all of our players available. Again, what's wrong with saying that? One player might not make too much difference but 4, when you don't have ready replacements, surely does?

No it hasn't, that's what you and Dyche and a lot of other people don't seem to realise. The players who are getting us promoted are not the ones who have cost loads, they've cost £1m or less. We've only actually began doing well after Pearson began cutting the wage bill and bringing in cheaper replacements for overrated pezzo novanti like Beckford, Mills & Danns.

Most of you have been gracious, the odd one has been bitter but that's expected from every group of fans.

However I thought Dyche bringing up money & resources was all rather petty and frankly, yeh, I would have respected him more if he'd have said 'we didn't turn up on the day, Leicester are a very good side and beat us fair and square'.

I don't even mind him saying he's had his best players out injured. But what he said was a bit disrespectful to the job Pearson has done, which hasn't been a cakewalk just because our owners have spent a lot in previous seasons.

A lot of managers wouldn't have built this side and a lot wouldn't have recovered from last season. It's not comparable to Redknapp, for example. Maybe we should be getting more credit for spending less money than them? Not to mention, of course, that we're romping the league and clearly the best side in it.

I just wish managers would keep their mouths shut sometimes. He was beaten by the better side on the day, and throughout the season. I don't really give a shit how much money they've spent in comparison, and he shouldn't be making comments about how much other manager's have spent.

Marginal one for me. Wouldn't have been surprised to have seen it given as a foul. One angle it looks shoulder to shoulder but another it looks a foul.

I agree with what you say but as I posted earlier I think the reaction of the two Burnley players swung the decision to 'play on' as neither react in any way. I think that had either really thought it was a push they'd have had their arms up and appealing in a nanosecond!

Sam Vokes - ACL injury to left knee:(....That's it for this season and out until maybe Christmas:(

Certainly gives hope to Derby and QPR - Barnes only fit striker left with Ings still probably out until the middle of April. :(

We need you to beat QPR...shame you have already played Derby twice

If we fail to make auto, I cannot see us winning the play-offs.

Duff didn't even appeal did he?

Blimey. I didn't think it'd be anywhere near as serious as that.

It didn't look like he rotated the knee too badly at all.

the only clear cut penalty the ref didn't see was the Vardy incident.

If Burnley don't make the autos from where they are now they only have themselves to blame.

Let's move on.

Wigan is the important team, Burnley are now inconsequential.

Why are people still going on about what decisions were and weren't given? We won 2-0 and that's all that matters and will be remembered.
