Babylon Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I was told by a Leicester fan after the game that Wood gets paid £25k per week, and he isn't the only one. Is that not true, then? Because if it is, then Pearson's spending a lot of money. Chris Wood himself said Millwall offered him more, do you think they were offering 26k?
Bryn Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Think the Burnley finance argument has been neatly put to bed in the last two pages.
Babylon Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Burnley fans. Even Leicester fans. Wood goal was it a push on Duff or sheet strength the latter for me.No chance was it a foul, wood puts his hand out but it's quite clear he does not push the player. The player stumbles because of Wood outdoing him strength wise and nothing to do with brushing his shoulder.Hilarious really all this coming from Burnley fans who called Vardy a diver after their player barged him in the box at our place... Now someone stroking their players shoulder is a foul and someone pushing Schlupp in the back is fine. It's either a contact sport or it's not.
Babylon Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Think the Burnley finance argument has been neatly put to bed in the last two pages. They seem to like counting money that was spent on players no longer even playing for us.Are we allowed to go on about money spent on fox, fletcher, bikey, eagles... Bloody big spending Burnley.
MC Prussian Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Do Burnley fans actually read the papers or study internet sources before coming up with those ludicrous numbers? 36 players used? Have they ever heard of QPR? Our current wage bill has also been vastly reduced, most high earners shipped out, and as for Wood earning £25k per week... Oh my. Nothing beats blindly following rumours. I bet some Clarets followers are currently looking for some sort of argumentation that fits their bill. Anything to prove they just can't compete with us or that we have a kind of an unfair advantage.
MC Prussian Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Burnley fan I've argued with on twitter seems to think its a foul and they should have had two penalties however in the lead up to the two penalties Schlupp? Gets pushed in the back.Well, how about their pull on Vardy in the first half, when he was entering their box?Wood simply outmuscled Duff (who didn't fall over or claim a foul himself). It was a fair challenge. End of. Plus, I highly doubt Burnley would have ever managed to score an equalizer, anyway.
Steven Posted 31 March 2014 Author Posted 31 March 2014 What you can't do is blame Dyche for his post match comments. He congratulated you, but made mention of your money because he's obviously gutted at being without his star men for such an important match. Nobody from Burnley will mind if I mention £48 million in parachute payments over the last four years. He was bang out of order.
Ed 1 Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Just watching Wood's goal (for probably the 50th time!) and loving how Lloyd runs over to celebrate with him!
Carl the Llama Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Think the Burnley finance argument has been neatly put to bed in the last two pages. Quite. I think all Burnley fans on this forum should read the following posts before they make any of their own. Pretty much covers all the bases on our finances, Dyche's interview, and the fantastic job Pearson's done which is being somewhat overlooked outside of Leicester - perhaps for the best, we don't want anyone poaching him!: Since these posts are all relatively long, to avoid creating a wall of text I've deleted their content - click on the arrow in the top-right corner of each quote box to go to the original post. Vlad the Fox Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 No foul, it was poor defending, duff gets done by the bounce and as a result is under the ball when he gets his head on it resulting in a weak header and being off balance in the challenge.
dsr-burnley Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 You are starting to sound a little bitter and twisted and surely a decent accountant would know how to find such details I do know how to find such details - and it would cost me a quid from Companies House. Why spend £1 if the info's there for free?
KFS Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I do know how to find such details - and it would cost me a quid from Companies House. Why spend £1 if the info's there for free? We could lend you the money? After all, we're throwing pound notes about aren't we?
Paulmot Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 WTF Burnley were under strength but we still had to beat them. Mission accomplished. Yes the post match comments would feel like a dig. The accounts balance as debt for equity. What does it matter we need 7 points only and the deal is done. We have spent big and failed. Now with prudence we are almost there. We deserve the big spender tag. Yes I know this team is not playboy category, but the preceding seasons taint our achievements
ADK Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Sour grapes from Dyche. At least Pearson put his own team together instead of having it built for him by another manager. Personally think Dyche is massively overrated.
BoyJones Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Burnley have had millions in parachute payments, more money than us to play with - they have just wasted it. Dyche is just looking for excuses because he didn't get in any decent replacements - bottom line very poor planning and management. If Burnley get caught only themselves to blame.
lancyclaret Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Dyche has achieved wonders this season to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, but even I am starting to think some of the praise is going to his head. We won't know for another few weeks but he might have made a £120 million c**k-up by NOT bringing in a loan striker before the loan deadline. He has gambled all season with just 2/3 strikers on the books but now injuries to Vokes and Ings could see an excellent promotion bid blow up in his face. If this happens, a lot of BFC fans would never forgive him (or the board). I still have not forgiven the board for appointing Brian Laws.

I think you have the potential and talent to see you through. You'll be fine - bottom line is, now that your most prolific strikers are sidelined, you may want to focus on keeping clean sheets. Build on a solid back four and take it from there. Two to three more wins should seal it for you guys, which is perfectly doable.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 I do know how to find such details - and it would cost me a quid from Companies House. Why spend £1 if the info's there for free? Tight, bitter and twisted then. Companies House would be a more reliable source, a quid and possibly tax deductible
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Sam Vokes actually ruptured his cruciate knee ligament, such an innocuous challenge. I hope this does not halt Burnleys charge to 2nd place. I would hate to see QPR or Derby go straight up.
Guest ttfn Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Sour grapes from Dyche. At least Pearson put his own team together instead of having it built for him by another manager. What?!!
Eddy Kellys Heroes Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 lancyclaret, by far the best Burnley poster on here
ADK Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 What?!! Almost all Dyche's players were already at the club. He's not had to meld a team together the same way Pearson has.
