FoxTrott Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Yes to the unknown bloke with the Italian name who I've never seen or heard of. No to the guy from Celtic who has experience in Europe.
Finnegan Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Yes to the unknown bloke with the Italian name who I've never seen or heard of. No to the guy from Celtic who has experience in Europe. A 20 year old tipped for the top or a thirty year old we know is very average?
WhispyWizard Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 I remember Gary Hooper being last years hot shit from Scotland. What happened to him?
suffolk fox Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 I remember Gary Hooper being last years hot shit from Scotland. What happened to him? Exactly! Well said.
Babylon Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Exactly! Well said. It's not well said though is it. Your argument seems to be x players have failed so will he.
suffolk fox Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 It's not well said though is it. Your argument seems to be x players have failed so will he. Errrrrr yes he will. This man was never a prolific goalscorer until he started playing in Scotland in a poor poor league. Even Craig Levene didn't rate him refusing him to be picked for Scotland claiming seven players were better. Hence Commons calling it a day on his supposed international career. twelve appearances two goals. Was never prolific for Forest or Derby. We do not need a florist or sheep reject. Remember even Deep Freeze was prolific in Scottish football did he pull up trees for us? Errrrrrrrrrrrr No.

Errrrrrrrrrrrr No. This, hes had a good season this year, but when you haveto leave a Championship club and goto Scotland to get recognised, it doesn't make you premier league standard. May as well get Billy McKay back while were plundering Scotland, hes almost scored 1 goal in every 2 games! He'll bang in 20 at least in the prem!
LCCFox96 Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 I'd happily have taken Commons two years ago or at the start of this season. At 30 I'm not sure he'll quite fit the bill so well anymore. No doubt a very good player but I dont see him having the pace or skill to handle the premiership anymore. Also think he will cost a bit too. He's the type of player not to write off completely but I think there is better available - probably for cheaper. One player at Celtic I would like us to sign is Emilio Izaguirre the left back. He's a real talent and would link up well with our attacking play too.
artursteppe Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 not quick enough! We need technically quick players to compete and stay in the premiership! Could be quick enough in a midfield trio ( left footed ) with Drinky and James in a 4-3-3.
Babylon Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 We shouldn't sign Jamie Vardy Kris Commons as he plays in a poor league and all the players are rubbish, he's no better than Beckford people who played in the premier.
teblin Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Pearson wants players with something to prove he fits that bill in terms of the premier league.
MC Prussian Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 We shouldn't sign Jamie Vardy Kris Commons as he plays in a poor league and all the players are rubbish, he's no better than Beckford people who played in the premier. Commons plays in a poor league. He doesn't fit our style of play. Beckford was massively overrated - although that's easy to say in hindsight.
artursteppe Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Commons plays in a poor league. He doesn't fit our style of play. Beckford was massively overrated - although that's easy to say in hindsight. If Van Persie, Rooney, Suarez or Aguero played in a crap league, would they then be crap players?
MC Prussian Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 If Van Persie, Rooney, Suarez or Aguero played in a crap league, would they then be crap players? There is a reason why they don't play in the SPL.
ealingfox Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 If we're getting anyone from the SPL I want us to have a look at Stevie May, looks a top talent at just 21.
artursteppe Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 There is a reason why they don't play in the SPL. Sorry, when you said 'poor league', I thought you meant a 'poor league'. Silly of me really. On the other hand if you only meant the SPL, why didn't you type SPL?
Babylon Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 There is a reason why they don't play in the SPL. There was a reason Vardy played in the conference... nobody gave him a chance. He doesn't fit our style of play. And what style of play will we be playing next year? Beckford was massively overrated - although that's easy to say in hindsight. You are missing the point, which is you shouldn't write people off, or presume they are good because of the leagues they play in. Beckford played in the premier when Vardy played for FC Halifax town in the Northern premier league. I don't watch enough of Commons to know how he's currently playing, but I'm not going to rule him out just because he plays in Scotland.
Guest MattP Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Never in a million years good enough to be a premier league player. Sure there is no truth in it and I very much doubt we have scouts tracking the SPL given we are going to the Premier league.
FoxTrott Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 I love people who seem to think they know players better than the people employed to do it as a career.

You know just like me that unearthing gems from the Conference is as rare as it can be. Vardy has done very well this season for us, whether he can make the step up to the Premier League remains to be seen (just like with other players that we currently have on the roster, mind). I can't see us playing any differently next season than we've been able to witness during this campaign. As I've stated before, Commons is not a pacey winger and he usually doesn't play in the middle (where we have our quantitative shortcomings).
conLAD logan Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 It would seem the strikers flop from the spl in current years, not the midfielders. I'd like to see him come here

I'd agree with you if he hadn't played in this country before, but seeing that hes played most of his career in the Championship and below doesn't really make me think he'd be good enough, maybe hes improved, i don't know, but i don't think anyone would have taken him last summer.
reynard Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Been here before a few years back! http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/45408-kris-commons/page-2?hl=+kris%20+commons And here http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/67557-kris-commons/?hl=%2Bkris+%2Bcommons And when Martin Allen was manager. Is there a player we've been linked with more than this guy and each time from a different club??
