Leicester-City-targeting-Celtic-ace-Kris-Commons - Daily Star

Very tidy player, and all those dismissing him for playing in Scotland - don't forget, this is the scottish champions so he gets 2-8 games a season playing in the CL - and Ledley was of a similar standard & stepped up fine for Palace: there is some good football north of the border, it's not just a collection of Joe Hammills and Alan Mayburys.

I'd take him.

Wouldn't it make him the first player to play for Leicester, Forest and Derby? I know Billy Davies played for us and managed them, but I can't think of a player that has turned out for all three clubs...

Peter Shilton, Gary Mills (loan spell at Derby)

Hope this is lazy journalism jesus Commons if that is the best we can do nailed on to finish bottom next season. Would rather start with what we have now that includes Gtf and 40 yr old Mr Phillips

Glad you aren't manager.

**** off is Commons a similar level to Ledley. They're different types of player but Joe Ledley has always been premiership class and should never have gone to the SPL.

Commons is a standard Championship drifter.

And I quite like Scottish football and have sung the praises of the likes of Jelavic and Fletcher, before and after their moves down.

If he ends up here I assume it's because Pearson trusts he'll add something behind the scenes a la Phillips, et all. If we sign Commons for the starting line up I'd be vastly disappointed.

When will people realise that the bloody Scottish Premiership is equivalent to the top end of the Championship down here. Commons a player who never pulled up trees when he played down here. An average championship player goes to Scotland starts scoring goals in a poor league. I pray to god he ain't coming here because quite frankly he is crap end of.

He's obviously not crap but money-wise we could get better players on less money abroad.

What an awful signing this would be, maybe a Championship team but not anywhere near good enough for the premier league.

Celtic play in the Champions League. They had some great results last year, including beating Barcelona. I doubt teams in this division would have achieved/progressed like they did.

There are many examples of players in Scotland coming to England and being good enough in the top flight. Look at Jelavic, look at Fletcher. I'm not saying I want Commons to sign but sometimes I think people are too quick to write off the Scottish Premier League just because it's Celtic's every year.

Kris Commons is a decent enough striker but not quite not the player we need.

He aint a striker, he's a winger/attacking midfielder.

Krissy Commons is a blue he hates Forest...and Derby.

Joking a side he is a big bstrd (not height wise) and could...COULD be the bit of physicality we need next season when up against strong back 4s. Scored goals in the championship in the past for two small teams but the SPL is not a patch on the premier league and ultimately I think he'd lack quality. Saying all this though I say we stick with Wood as the presence upfront, he's got a bit of added height on him as well

Everton fans said the same thing about Naismith

Except that Naismith signed for them at age 25, in his prime years so to speak. Plus, he's probably a bit faster than Commons.

I'd have taken Commons if we had gone up a few years earlier, but I doubt that he'll get any better than this.

Also, I don't see what he could add to Pearson's fast-paced system relying on a fluid passing game - he's too slow for a winger and no central midfielder.
