davieG Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Leicester City vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha tells Late Kick Off Midlands that the Premier League-bound club will carefully follow Financial Fair Play rules on their top-flight return. Top Video http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27262294 ....and the Chairman speaks Promotion to the Premier League is just the start for Leicester City, chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha has said. The 56-year-old owner of City said clinching the Championship title and a place in the Premier League was only part of his long-term plan for the club. He now wants to see City established as a successful top-flight club. The billionaire, who very rarely speaks publicly, said he would savour City's success now but immediately thoughts have already turned to taking the club to the next level. "Winning promotion from the Football League is a fantastic achievement, but it is only the next step in our long-term vision for Leicester City," he said. "Our ambition has always been to not only take the club to the Premier League, but also to establish it there and make it successful. "What we have learned from being involved in football is that nothing is predictable and that success can never be guaranteed, but we will continue to work towards moving the club forward. "As a club, it is important that we are always making progress. In life, if you are standing still, you are moving backwards, so we will not be resting because we have reached the Premier League. "We will always be striving for something more. "Every club at the start of a new season wants to begin well because we have seen momentum is an ally in football, but just as important is how you finish because the season is a long journey. "We will have targets in mind, but progress is more difficult to quantify, so we will keep an open mind." Srivaddhanaprabh pledged to provide manager Nigel Pearson with the funds required to add to his squad. "Support will be available to Nigel and his staff to develop the squad, of course, but this has always been the case," he added in City's match-day magazine. "The club's recruitment policy is such that Nigel and his team will have been monitoring players for a sustained period of time and assessing what level of investment would be appropriate for each potential target. "If they wish to add to the squad to improve it, they will have the necessary support to do so." kingcarr21 Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 sounds like head is well and truly screwed on now after the Sven era. We have got a fantastic foundation to build on. Academy is of the highest quality. Stadium already good enough for Prem. Big enough Fanbase. Hopefully we will be a Prem team for the foreseeable future. The owners overall have done a cracking job and may it continue. UP THE FOXES
ealingfox Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 What odds on us winning the Champions League in the next 10 years?
Sir Shep Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Developing the youngsters is a must, pays off for the likes of West Ham and Southampton (the latter helps if you have a world class left foot it seems!). What I would like to see personally is a reserve team again so those who don't play regularly in the first team get some games in and remain match fit.

Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 .....and they can play some over age players hence St Ledger playing. Yep, how many over age players are they allowed?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Development of young players will be a key factor in how our club will fare in the future. Never underestimate it's importance.
davieG Posted 6 May 2014 Author Posted 6 May 2014 Yep, how many over age players are they allowed? Wiki The U21 age-range was set up for the first time with the introduction of the Professional Development League. Teams are allowed to field three overage outfield players and one overage goalkeeper.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 If we can hone the next Tommy Tejan-Sie we'll be sweet.
Itsthejoeker Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/27289819 I'd be well up for this, it'll give the players a better stab at making a name for themselves and progressing to the first team.
One Legged Beaver Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/27289819 If I supported a team in League two or the Conference I'd be fuming if this came to fruition!
Xen Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 What odds on us winning the Champions League in the next 10 years? Winning it might be a bit too ambitious, but as far as a 10-year-plan goes, qualifying for the CL could just about be a realistic target. Ambitious, certainly, but doable. After all, when we last got relegated in 04, the 4 teams above us included Tottenham, Everton and Man City, who are all top-6 sides. Admittedly they've had some significant investment (City being the main beneficiary of course), but who knows, we may be able to achieve something similar and get ourselves into the mix.
VLC86 Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 .....and they can play some over age players hence St Ledger playing. He qualifies under the 'mental age of a teenager' rule

Wow, so we are talking about champions league qualification before even kicking a ball in the premiership. May I suggest this might be a bit premature, let's stay up first
foxes_rule1978 Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Good to hear, seems they are just going to allow Pearson and his staff to get on with things like they have done from the off. If they want to spend they caniof not fair enough, they fully trust the manager.

May I suggest this might be a bit premature, let's stay up first I was only saying that it could potentially be a realistic target in the long term. I 100% recognise that there's a LONG way to go before we're even approaching that sort of level of football!
lgfualol Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/27289819 No thanks. They can do one.
Guest MattP Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Our owners haven't put a foot wrong since showing Sven the door. Long may it continue.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 It's good to know that they have learnt from their mistakes in the past I can see why they are so successful
gcah2013 Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Anyone know if we're likely to meet FFP targets this season?
foxile5 Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Anyone know if we're likely to meet FFP targets this season? I believe Susan Whelan said we were on course to comply, yes.
