Jonzey01 Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Going up to the premier league this year begs the question, who is worse than us and therefore should theoretically finish below us? Suggestions? West Brom - look although they may struggle next year after getting rid of Paul Gascoiynes brother Sunderland - Connor Wickham surely can't be that prolific again can he, and Borini will return to liverpool Newcastle - they have been on the beach since about January, lets hope they remain there Burnley - will be a big 6 pointer against them next year, Vings partnership disrupted by Vokes long term injury Derby/QPR - QPR likely to spend big, and therefore could be more of a challenge next season, lets hope Derby come up, we always seem to beat Derby Surely 3 of this lot should finish below us?
teblin Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Southampton? Talk of the best players leaving and also the manager.
Jonzey01 Posted 21 May 2014 Author Posted 21 May 2014 Southampton? Talk of the best players leaving and also the manager. Think of all the money they will have to reinvest, 27m for Shaw and 25m Lallana apparently...
Rocky Dennis Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 I reckon a 14th placed finish for us with the following finishing below, not necessarily in this order: WBA Burnley Derby* Crystal Palace Aston Villa Hull City
foxes4e4 Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Sunderland are not gonna go down got a good team spirit newcastle will only stay up if they spend and from the rumours up here doesnt look like they will
Bayfox Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Think of all the money they will have to reinvest, 27m for Shaw and 25m Lallana apparently... the shaw money is going on outstanding transfer payments, they owe nearly 30 million. As for who we could finish above. Sunderland, west brom, west ham, burnley, derby, villa, swansea(if bony goes)
Wilson_6 Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 I really think Swansea will struggle next season. Could see us finishing above them!
foxfanazer Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Derby, Villa, West Ham, Burnley and West brom 15th place finish
LCCFox96 Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 There will be about 8-9 teams all in the relegation mix next year. I can see West Ham struggling again as the pressure starts to get to Allardyce and I think Gary Monk will struggle at Swansea. I think Newcastle will pick up again if Pardew gets given this mega transfer budget off Ashley that everyone is talking about. The rest will all be in a dog fight at the top bottom and hopefully we will have enough to finish on top. We really need a good start and pick up 6-8 points in the first 12 just to keep momentum moving and try make the magic 40 point mark as fast as possible. On that notion we could do without having City or Liverpool or Chelsea away first.
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 everyone:- Beat me to it.. Arsenal relegated.. now THAT I'd love to see!
Jonzey01 Posted 21 May 2014 Author Posted 21 May 2014 everyone:- well this just clogs up the thread, you could have at least done the points totals...
cc_star Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Don't know about finishing below us, but these clubs have various challenges on their hands & are candidates to do so Hull - they'll be in Europa League which will stretch them Villa - Been thereabouts for a while and with zero investment their 'standing still' will see them going backwards West Brom - Reversing their decline looks a big ask Burnley - Will spirit alone keep them up or will they be the plucky side that the media likes but ultimately are always destined to go down Swansea - The formula seems to have come unstuck, a lot depends on Michu & Bony playing & even staying, no Europa Lg this time should help Derby/QPR - People talk about QPR flashing their billions again... Didn't do anything last time around, Derby could continue to build, but are starting from a position well below us... and them being in the Premier League means we're automatically 6 points better off Southampton - Best players on way out & manager too? West Ham - Big Sam having to sacrifice what works well for him to change his style, will the hoofers & cloggers cope? As for us? Not sure how our team will cope, our success came from having more possession in nearly every game than the opposition, much of this possession being in opponent's half with overwhelming numbers which saw us create an overwhelming number of chances and our midfield duo dominated even three-man opposition. That just isn't going to happen. Even in the Championship we were poor at defending setpieces and attacking setpieces we were woeful (in some game set pieces will be the only chance we get)
Super_horns Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 QPR will have a 60 million fine to contend with under the new FFP regulations - if they come into play. I think it will be pretty tight again - cannot see anyone being cut adrift.
Langley Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Think of all the money they will have to reinvest, 27m for Shaw and 25m Lallana apparently... they've got a transfer defecit at the moment. They won't have any to re-invest.
Brainy Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Burnley Hull and Derby if they come up. Hull are in the Europa League which will hopefully make it more difficult for them.
ScouseFox Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 as long as there's 3 teams on this list in a year's time i'm getting the party started
Blue Ed Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 I rekon we'll come 9th or 10th which means that these are the teams that should come below us Southampton QPR/Derby Villa Palace Newcastle Swansea West Brom Burnley West Ham Hull Stoke
Brainy Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 In fairness we could finish 10th and still only be 5/6pts off 18th.
Donut Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Southampton would be a good bet to get relegated. Their brief bubble has well and truly burst and i think theyre in genuine trouble. I think the usual candidates are going to be down there, Villa with the ownership issues, Hull having to cope with the Europa league, newly promoted teams adapting to the division, not sure about West Brom, i think they could improve somewhat with stability and a couple of decent purchases. Same with Sunderland, decent manager in now, if they can clear out some of Di Canio's junk and bring a couple in certain areas, i think they could do pretty well.
Jonzey01 Posted 21 May 2014 Author Posted 21 May 2014 In fairness we could finish 10th and still only be 5/6pts off 18th. we could indeed but so could all of the bottom 10, i think were being optimistic
WhispyWizard Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 West Ham, bad start means that the fans will be against Big Sam after the first match, he leaves, someone rubbish replaces him with rubbish January signings, relegated. Not sure where all this "Southampton are in trouble" is coming from!
