I hope Jordan comes in for Stokes.

If he doesnt, or Woakes comes in, then I know the board and selectors are and will not be dynamic now or in the future.

My take on it...Stokes bowled well but at the moment, has lost his batting mojo.

Jordan will bowl aswell, but should be given the chance now to see if he can bat at this level.

It maybe unfair, but Woakes IMO is not a test bowler, Jordan has that bit of 'je ne sais quoi' but he has something.

I don't think either Jordan or Woakes will be test cricketers eventually, both are bit and pieces players and

Antyhing think dropping Stokes to 8 rather than 6 has had an impact as well? Seems a daft decision when you consider 6 was where he made the innings of a lifetime in Perth.

Enjoying watching Carbs tonight. Should still be an England player mind.

I was against his selection for the Aus tour but I overestimated our ability in hindsight, he certainly would be no worse than Robson now would he? Did a fairly decent job of seeing off the new ball as well.

They can't be very good at glory supporting then.

They are ****ing dreadful tbh, the worst fans in sport.

They spent most of the Champions Trophy final hurling racist abuse at Ravi Bopara and you didn't hear a peep about it in the press. It was appalling some of it.

England players being booed at Lords, fcuk that. 'Indian fans' who probably live two stops down on the tube as well and have never set foot in an Indian ground.

Regularly get into arguments with an Indian lad on facebook I used to play cricket with (naturally he follows Man United and acts like he's Salford born and bred too when posting about Liverpool or Man City).

He's got some utterly daft opinions about the Anderson thing to the point where he's deluded beyond belief.

All this from a country that wants to give the impression Test cricket should be sacked off in favour of billions of boring ODIs and T20 thrashes.

Yeah not surprised. I;ve seen a few of them, as has been said you get the idiot mentality who certainly have no idea about the spirit of the game and the tradiotions at Lords and probably think it's ok to behave like you would at a T20.

Monday was very aggressive by the sounds of it, Indian fans launching into chants of "You're not English anymore" and "Where's your country gone?"

Then again, they still aren't anywhere near as bad as Pakistan for racism and fan violence at the grounds.

I doubt we'll ever see behaviour like they showed during the one-day tournament around the turn of the century. Invading pitches, stewards attacked, throwing beer cans at players, disgusting.

The last ODI series wasn't much better believe me about 4-5 years ago, just wasn't publicised as much.

Spitting at women and intimidating people in and around the ground in Leeds, got very nasty at times around the stadium.

I agree about the Carberry shout, he did do well v Australia to a certain extent in seeing off the new ball, he was doing that against very good bowling but couldn't kick on.

Robson hasn't convinced but deserves a bit more time, there may be a shout in bringing in Carberry to open with Robson and drop Cook to number 3, so he has time to get his head right after being in the field.

The problem with Carberry though wasn't just that he failed to post a big score he was a liability in the field and dropped a number of simple chances.

I really don't see the point of Cook dropping to number 3. He's an opener and always has been, the way we are losing wickets he'll still be facing the new ball anyway within ten minutes.

And it would effect Ballance who seems to have slotted into Trott's position rather well.

Carbs is one of the best fielders in England. We haven't fielded well as a team for about 2 years.

It's strange that Robson has gone straight into the side as an opener. I always think it's better to introduce players lower down the order and then move them up. Root went to open too soon as well. Much like what India are doing with Rahane.

Also has Bell ever scored runs at number 4?

Well he was terrible in Australia.

We did it with Vaughan to take the pressure off, it isn't to protect Cook against the new ball, it is just to give him a bit of time to get his head together after toiling in the field, even if it is only 10 minutes in some cases.

Having Carberry being positive and scoring runs will relieve pressure on Cook. At the moment both him and Robson are dropping anchor and are still getting out early. The dynamic is wrong, similarly to when Root opened.

The dynamic is wrong all through the batting order, too many back foot players grinding out scores rather than a KP or Morgan actually going after the bowlers and trying to dominate them, not enough positive batting and as a result they are inviting pressure on themselves.

Based on his performance in the Ashes Carberry isn't the answer and I would rather persist with someone like Robson who could develop into a real world class opener, but I can see your point about having more positive intent at the start of the innings.

I know he's getting on a bit, but what about the ginger chap at Somerset? Steve Kirby is it?

Jesus he doesn't half send it down. Proper aggression in his bowling as well which is something our bowlers have lacked since maybe Flintoff.

I think put a fired up Kirby on against any of the Indian batsmen and they won't know what's hit them. He's almost got an Australian Temperament about him, which I like.

The dynamic is a great point, someone up the order who can score a bit quicker might just be what the doctor ordered for Cook.

Ahh bollocks.

He was good I liked him

Deviating away from England and sticking with Steve Kirby briefly it's very sad that he has had to retire, I have known him for 20 or so years, is a top lad and always bowled with fire and aggression, another mess up by LCCC letting him go all those years ago, married a Leicester girl, played for Kibworth and would of given County many years good service.

Piers Morgan v Brian Moore, debate on Pietersen and Captain Weasel (Cook).

Think Piers wins this little battle.
