marko Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 But it would have been appealed and the correct decision made so it's all the same. But would they? Dhoni was off to square leg so he could have not reviewed on the basis it was missing leg - wouldn't be the first time we've seen a team not review an LBW shout and it would have been given out.
Grandad. Posted 28 July 2014 Author Posted 28 July 2014 It's hardly like we are screaming for it now, we were like this after the first test at Trent Bridge. DRS is a side issue here for me, the main issue here for me is how bad that umpiring is and has been through out the series.
marko Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 I agree but just find it interesting that were screaming for it now but not when bell was not given out. I've no reason to scream for it when Bell was given not out. I've no sympathy for them as had they done what the rest of the cricketing world has done and accept DRS then he might have gone and we'd have accepted the reversal of the decision, but when there's a perfectly good system available that we wish to utilise and would have corrected an absolute howler, I think we've every reason to voice our displeasure, especially when it's denied to us by a party other than the sport's governing body.
RowlattsFox Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Batsmen are always criticised for not walking yet bowlers and fielders appeal for every thing even if they know it's not out.
Captain... Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Ton up for Pankaj, and only bowler without a wicket, not a great debut so far. (Cue him taking a hat-trick)
Grandad. Posted 28 July 2014 Author Posted 28 July 2014 Brilliant from Bell, easily the best batsman in our side.
marko Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Ton up for Pankaj, and only bowler without a wicket, not a great debut so far. (Cue him taking a hat-trick) He's actually bowled pretty well in parts.
Captain... Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Poor from Ali, yet to be convinced by him with bat or ball, now lets see what Buttler can do, he's seen Bell smash Jadeja around I bet he can't wait to have a go at him.
Captain... Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Lucky bugger there, I'm going to stop bigging him up and clearly putting the mockers on him.
Swarles Barkley Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Great knock from bell. Buttler lucky to still be there
Grandad. Posted 28 July 2014 Author Posted 28 July 2014 Don't know if it has been mentioned before the start of play yesterday or not, but with no Prior did Cook or anyone mention who is vice captain now?
Captain... Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Don't know if it has been mentioned before the start of play yesterday or not, but with no Prior did Cook or anyone mention who is vice captain now? Not sure, I'd assume Broad. Edit: Actually Bell was VC, when Prior didn't play down under, so probably him.
Grandad. Posted 28 July 2014 Author Posted 28 July 2014 Imagine Moeen Ali next summer v Mitchell Johnson and next winter v Steyn/Morkel.. A lot of work needs to be done with him over the winter, another one I wouldn't have playing ODI cricket, get him with the Lions or playing County Cricket in Oz.
RowlattsFox Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Don't know if it has been mentioned before the start of play yesterday or not, but with no Prior did Cook or anyone mention who is vice captain now? I think Bell is vice captain anyway. He was in charge when Cook left the field in the last match.
Grandad. Posted 28 July 2014 Author Posted 28 July 2014 I think Bell is vice captain anyway. He was in charge when Cook left the field in the last match. Ah never knew, cheers! Bell 150!
Grandad. Posted 28 July 2014 Author Posted 28 July 2014 Well done Ian Bell! Now get to 550 as quick as possible then have a bowl at them tonight.
marko Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Should think we'll declare around 5:10/5:15. Be nice to send a couple of them back to the pavilion this evening.
purpleronnie Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Should think we'll declare around 5:10/5:15. but we've already got more than that.
ScouseFox Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 just get buttler to smack anything coming his way and then declare once he misses one. or in about half an hour if he's still going.
marko Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 but we've already got more than that. Not for long! Apparently the BCCI are off crying to the ICC as we speak for a retrospective DRS appeal on the LBW decision on 0 and to have the runs deducted. Also applying for 50 penalty runs for Bell not upholding the spirit of the game and not walking.
Ross-Kemp Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Declared. 569-7. 14 overs left in the day, right decision IMO.
Swarles Barkley Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 just get buttler to smack anything coming his way and then declare once he misses one. or in about half an hour if he's still going.
ScouseFox Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Didn't expect him to hit quite that many that quickly, mind. Like marko said get these a few down by home time and were all happy chappies.
