It's not harming SA and the Aussies too much mind, just think our quicks have lost the plot somewhat since last summer.

If we had Amla, AVB, Steyn, Kallis, Pilander and Morkel I think we might be alright as well. Our bowling was shocking on Thursday though thinking back, that was a >200 pitch on the first morning and we blew it.

We could do with Finn back for a bit to be honest, he bowled well against India last time.

Never understood this coaching a bowler lark. Fraser et al managed to put all these ideas in his head which has messed with his approach, rhythm, stride and ultimately f'ed his delivery. Let bowlers bloody bowl!

He's our only genuine 90mph bowler, the sooner he's back the better.

Three matches left yet ;)

People are right to be annoyed, England shouldn't be being bounced out by a bowler of the quality of Ishant, he's very very average on a World stage and with a bit of patience on a day 5 pitch at Lords you shouldn't get yourself out.

My team for the third test.

Cook

Robson

Ballance

Bell

Root

Morgan

Buttler

Broad

Bresnan

Anderson

Kerrigan

Only three seamers and one spinner? Bold (although, some might argue, not as bold as playing four seamers and no spinner :D )

If Kerrigan goes tits up you can still have Root tying up an end (I've seen nothing still to suggest he is any worse than Ali with the ball), bare in mind this is a pitch for the Rose Bowl as well which is generally a turning one.

Bresnan is a workhorse as well with the ball, people forget the amount of overs he could get through giving the express bowlers a rest. I have a strong feeling Chris Woakes is going to play in this game though for Ben Stokes.

I feel for you guys in your post Swann era, world class or even test capable spinners are hard to find. We still haven't found one post Warne although Lyon is doing okay.

Chris Woakes is so ordinary. Baffles me how he gets near the team.

Stokes, Jordan and Bresnan would all be considered before him in my team.

Sad thing is, Cook's legacy as a fantastic opener and run machine is being tainted by his captaincy. People will remember the defeats and the criticism from Warne, Boycott et al before the centuries and records.

U really can't understand the calls for Monty either, every county report this season seems to indicate he's finished.

I mainly follow the national side so I don't know what is going on in county cricket, and seeing as we have so many inexperienced players in the side, Monty has at least performed reliably for England before, but if he isn't performing on the county scene then it has to be someone else.

If we bring in someone new though then I would be surprised if we dropped Ali, if the Rose Bowl is going to turn then we may need spin at both ends and if it doesn't then Ali and can share the spinning duties with whoever comes in.

Does anyone think Strauss would actually have done any better? When Cook had KP, Swann and Trott to call upon we won.

Is Cook responsible for Prior and Bell's lack of form? Arguably his failures at the top put extra pressure on but Robson, Ali, Balance and Root have all made big scores this summer.

The bowling plans, specifically the short stuff, have been poor but how much of that is on the bowlers and Moores? of course Cook has to take some of the blame for the bowling plans and his own form. All of this will be forgotten if we get something out of this series and go on to win the Ashes next summer. This isn't the first bad spell with the bat Cook has had and he came back from that to be our best batsman. He deserves a bit of time to sort out his batting form, and with there being no other candidates for captaincy I don't see what other choice we have than stick with him for tests.

As an aside has there ever been a bigger bunch of glory supporters in cricket than the Indians?

Hardly see them all summer then they all turn up on a day when they might win.

Worse than the Aussies.

And then stick their England shirt on when the football is on.

Sickening stuff isn't it?

Panesar isn't even getting a game at that level at the minute and has been dropped into the seconds, you can't call up a player like that for an International side.

Rumours have been doing the rounds he'd been hitting the bottle very hard, hence the incidents we've seen on him trying to grope up women and pissing on doorman.

I do find it strange. You have one country and you support that nation across all sports.

Trouble is we've been so spoiled with Vaughan and Strauss as captain (who both had wonderful teams) that it's making Cook's job impossible, especially with the introduction of the young players. It's no where near as bad as when Stewart and Athers were skipper, the future looks incredibly bright we just need to pick up that first win.

We also need some good performances from Cook, Bell, Broad and Anderson, a win but failures for those four is still going to raise questions.

Prior taking a break means we now only have 4 experienced players, and none of them are really performing. It is a crazy situation to think this time last year over half the current team weren't even in consideration for a test place. In the next test (assuming Buttler is in for Prior) we will have at least 5 players (Robson, Ballance, Stokes, Ali, Buttler, maybe Jordan, maybe Kerrigan, maybe Briggs) who made their test debut in the last 12 months, Plunkett who hadn't played for years before this summer, if he keeps his place, then Root who made his debut 18 months ago and has been up and down the order like a yo-yo.

It was great to have a settled team for so many years, but now we are paying for it, with a spate of retirements, expulsions, mental and physical problems, perhaps we will learn that we need to have more contracts than just 11 and start getting more players involved in the set-up earlier, as much as the Kerrigan selection was a disaster it was exactly the right thing to do.

A man/boy could come out of this, a suprise, someone not on everyones list...for obvious reasons.

Bring back Bopara. He might me the one who would revell better in the capains position, plus he could hold up

an End bowling occasionally. Cometh the hour cometh the man. Here comes my choice.

Cook

Robson

Ballance

Root

Bell

Bopara.cptn...if not then Morgan

Butler.wkt

Ali

Jordan

Broad

Anderson/Plunkett

Broad , Anderson have to be given ultimatums. Think on your feet, bowl to conditions, learn again to change,

Between short or full bowling, like they used to do.

Or be threatened to front up, being asked why they have lost it, where the Indians/sri Lankans learnt.

These two being put up in front of the cameras to answer the questions, instead of sending out the youngsters.

The English captain and coach separately who ever that is,must also front the cameras at least twice, during a test

at the days end. This means either at present, under skysports/channel 5.

Either in winning or losing the day.Not sending in a second tier coach, to play the media.

Accept responsibility, in bad and yes good days.

Plus outside the opening batsman, all batsman in the same test or series, to move up/down the order.

England should also prepared to change the opening/strike bowlers, and not have them bowl more than 6 overs.

I still believe in Stokes, but get him playing county cricket, and comeback later, maybe during the one dayers.

Broad should be told he has Stokes breathing down his neck, even though stokes batting needs a tweek.

Bopara has had an incredible season with the bat and deserves consideration but has never really captained us in the longer format, let alone England.

Desperately want Cook to come good again, he's limited with the transitional side he has.

According to BBC Broad is playing with a knee problem, could be rested, Anderson could be banned for the incident with Jadeja, big big test coming up.

England squad for 3rd Test v India: Cook, Robson, Balance, Bell, Root, Moeen, Buttler, Stokes, Broad, Jordan, Woakes, Plunkett, Anderson

No front line spinner again.

Kerrigan can't have impressed when he joined up with the squad. Looks like a one day team to me, lots of "all rounders" but not enough specialists.

Well it's a vote of confidence in them. Buttler in for Prior and Woakes in for Stokes are my calls. If the Rose Bowl turns as much as it did last time this could look ridiculous.

Kerrigan must have bowled like a little girl in the nets.

And then stick their England shirt on when the football is on.

They can't be very good at glory supporting then.

I expect they'll play the same team with the exception of Buttler.

I hope Jordan comes in for Stokes.

If he doesnt, or Woakes comes in, then I know the board and selectors are and will not be dynamic now or in the future.

My take on it...Stokes bowled well but at the moment, has lost his batting mojo.

Jordan will bowl aswell, but should be given the chance now to see if he can bat at this level.

It maybe unfair, but Woakes IMO is not a test bowler, Jordan has that bit of 'je ne sais quoi' but he has something.
