purpleronnie Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Rumour going round that Liverpool are interested in signing Bell after his performance today.
theessexfox Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Fantastic day for England, makes a nice change of late.
Captain... Posted 28 July 2014 Posted 28 July 2014 Fantastic day for England, makes a nice change of late. True, but it only means anything if we can win this test. Failing to capitalise from here will make all of the great batting redundant.
Grandad. Posted 28 July 2014 Author Posted 28 July 2014 Exactly Captain, today will be for nothing unless we can make a break through tomorrow, an absolutely massive day! Two early wickets tomorrow please Jimmy.
The People's Hero Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Bell has been VC to cook for some time officially or unofficially. How long till ECB manufactured cricket-bot Joe Root gets the job?
Captain... Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 I can see Root being groomed for captaincy like Cook was, hopefully they will actually let him captain some games before he is thrown in at the deep end. Wish I was working from home today, hoping for Broad and Anderson to come steaming in first thing and aim at the stumps. As good as yesterday was with the bat and we took a cheap wicket, we still seem to be allowing them to leave too many balls. At the moment runs are irrelevant we need wickets, make them play, if it squirts off for 4, so what we have runs in the bag we need to take wickets and that requires the ball to hit the bat, the pad, or the wicket not sail harmlessly through to Buttler.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 This pitch would have suited Plunkett, Jordan is far too erratic.
Captain... Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 I just read on the BBC that Jordan threw down 5 wides in his over? Were they exaggerating for comic effect or is he really that bad?
StanSP Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Can we please have Chris Jordan bowling all overs? Thank you.
marko Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 I just read on the BBC that Jordan threw down 5 wides in his over? Were they exaggerating for comic effect or is he really that bad? It was one delivery that went miles down the leg-side to the boundary for 5 wides.
Captain... Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 It was one delivery that went miles down the leg-side to the boundary for 5 wides. Ah that makes more sense I thought he had bowled 5 wide balls, not one that went for 5. Phew, that would have been an 11 ball over otherwise.

Leeds_Fox95 Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 It's these middle if the afternoon over where we need to pull our finger out a bit. Good intensity in the morning and decent evening sessions in the field but the afternoon sessions are just drab and a bit lifeless. I know the ball and pitch aren't doing much to aid the bowlers but you get out what you put in. We need broady to steam in and send a bit of chin music down to just put the Indians on the back foot, rather than just sending then down line and length.
Captain... Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Yes Moeen, seems a bit of a gift of a wicket, but great timing, it was Ali's wicket just before lunch that sparked our collapse at Lords, lets hope it is the same for India here.

Be nice to nip one or two more out before the new ball. Could be a crucial period in setting up the win.
theessexfox Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Been pretty patient seeing as it's not doing a lot, we'd have taken 214-5 at tea before play began I reckon. Just no big tail-end stands please.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Moeen's 12th wicket of the summer. Who needs a front line spinner?
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Need to get atleast one of these pair out by the close of play tonight.
Super_horns Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Anderson steps up to the mark when its needed. Hopefully Kumar won't decide to knock it around again.
Captain... Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Would be brilliant if we could knock these over tonight, big ask as they all seem handy with the bat.
StanSP Posted 29 July 2014 Posted 29 July 2014 Well after that day I'm glad we didn't get all out. We regain some momentum psychologically and at least get a chance to add to our score tomorrow morning (unfortunately for us it'll probably be only morning that we get to bat). What's the follow-on target? Can see England bowling us out for 350-375 barring some miracle. Reckon Dhoni will just go out and smack it about. He's running out of partners and has nothing to lose. If England do bowl us out for that amount, they'll quickly add another 150-200 and put us back in to bat again to chase 300(roughly).
