tetly Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Barkley Wilshere Sterling Sturridge Rooney What do you think of this team plenty of youth and pace. This formation allows us to be flexible when under pressure Rooney can drop into cm and push sterling and Sturridge up front. Start with 433 but switch to 4132 when we need to.
Strokes Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 I wouldn't play Rooney, he is a liability and doesn't have the discipline we need. I would stick with the shape but play lallana for Rooney and swap with sturridge.
ScouseFox Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 hart johnson - cahill - jags - baines gerrard - hendo sterling - rooney - lallana sturridge the three in behind the striker can end up on either side or behind the front man at their own will, henderson can do his usual covering every blade job, gerrard has got people willing to make runs and targets to hit with through balls and sturridge knows where the net is. the defence is shit but hey ho. 5-4 every game will do me.
LCFC-Sam Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Henderson Sterling Rooney Lallana Sturridge
Stadt Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 I don't particularly care as long as it's a positive formation with Sturridge starting uptop with at least one of Sterling/Ox/Lallana on the wing with Barkely/Lallans in midfield. I hope Roy doesn't feel that he has to shoehorn Rooney in "because he's our only world class player".
ScouseFox Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 thinking about it we've actually got a lot of genuinely good/exciting options going forward. if we didn't have such a shit defence then who knows. in the team i picked i've left out barkley, oxlade-chamberlain and wilshere, who could've easily made our midfield in recent years.

This formation allows us to be flexible when under pressure Rooney can drop into cm and push sterling and Sturridge up front. Start with 433 but switch to 4132 when we need to. Spot on. Except i'd swap Wilshere for Lallana. This could be the team, THIS IS OUR YEAR!

Leicesterpool Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 For Italy game, the italian's normally like to overload the midfield so for me. GK: Hart CB: Jaigelka CB: Cahill CB: Smalling (sadly) RWB: Johnson LWB: Baines CM: Gerrard CM: Wilshire CM: Barkley CF: Rooney CF: Sturridge But of course i'd like to see us more attacking than this.
Fox92 Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 But of course i'd like to see us more attacking than this. That won't happen as long as Hodgson is in charge.

They like to overload midfield so you're playing 3 centre backs? More like to go 4231 or 433.
Ric Flair Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 hart johnson - cahill - jags - baines gerrard - hendo sterling - rooney - lallana sturridge the three in behind the striker can end up on either side or behind the front man at their own will, henderson can do his usual covering every blade job, gerrard has got people willing to make runs and targets to hit with through balls and sturridge knows where the net is. the defence is shit but hey ho. 5-4 every game will do me. That's on the money for me with Barkley and The Ox to come on as impact players.
theessexfox Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 I'd love to see Rooney's name on the bench for Italy.
Grandad. That's my eleven but in a different system. I want us to play a diamond, I want Sterling centrally dragging players all over the place, I want Henderson and Lallana hassling the **** out of the Italian midfield, I want Gerrard sitting in his role, controlling play and being our deepest lying midfielder yet still being positive and looking to pass forward! I want Rooney along side Sturridge, again dragging players around, feeding balls through to Sturridge and running onto balls from Sturridge, I want us to have strikes at goal. I've posted it many a time but this is what I want us to do and where I think we would have our most joy. Hart Johnson -- Cahill -- Jagielka -- Baines Gerrard Henderson ----------------- Lallana Sterling Rooney --------- Sturridge
GingerrrFox Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 I'd love England to play a 3-5-2. Hart Jones Cahill Jagielka Milner Gerrard Henderson Barkley Baines Rooney Sturridge But it's never happening I imagine it will be Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Henderson Lallana Rooney Welbeck Sturridge

Hart Jones Cahill Jagielka Milner Gerrard Henderson Barkley Baines Rooney Sturridge But it's never happening I imagine it will be Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Henderson Lallana Rooney Welbeck Sturridge Thank god they won't! The most exciting players in England this season have been Sterling and Lallana, it would be a travesty were both not to be in the starting line up in Brazil. I'd like to be able to fit Barkley in as well but I cannot see Roy leaving out Rooney and Sturridge is our most natural finisher.
Guest Kopfkino Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Think Milner and Welbeck will end up playing against Italy, hope not but would not surprise
LeicesterBran Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Hart Johnson-Cahill-Jageilka- Baines Gerrard- Henderson Sterling- -Barkley- Lallana Sturridge Hope we start like that against Uruguay and Italy. But, the fat cvnt Rooney is very likely to start for us.

Hart Johnson -- Cahill -- Jagielka -- Baines Gerrard Henderson ----------------- Lallana Sterling Rooney --------- Sturridge I think if you want your central 2 hassling then Milner is a better choice than Lallana. It would be nice to think that we had the tactical flexibility to flit between the diamond and a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 in the match but I fear this may be a pipe dream.

This exactly. Hodgson has said that in training they are trying to get Lallana, Sterling and Rooney to play together and connect so thats what he'll probably go for. As for Sturridge, if he wasn't so over the top in dangerous situations he would be so much more effective, that said he could be a key player for us. Everyone saying drop Rooney, that really would be stupid as he's clearly our best player, in form or not he has the ability to score a goal out of anything and leaving him out would really be foolish Much more excited for this World Cup, my hopes are probably going to be shattered though.

Yeah I would agree with you regarding Milner, I wouldn't mind Milner starting if was deployed in that formation and with them tactics.
leicesterisme Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 I'd be very tempted to take Flanagan and start him at RB, been quite impressed with him this season and Johnson is horrid. We've got to make Sturridge our main striker, no point playing him and then putting him out on the left. Really hope we just go for it, massively doubt he will though.

This but Barkley instead of Rooney
Mikey Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Just imagine if Hodgson does drop Rooney for the Italy game and we ended up getting beat. Roy will take an absolute pasting from the whole country. Not going to happen. Personally think it's quite strange that people do want it to happen.
Danno Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Ruddy Clyne Shackell Caulker Shaw Huddlestone Livermore Ings Kane Johnson Wickham Lead us to glory Roy.
