Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 hart johnson - cahill - jags - baines gerrard - hendo sterling - rooney - lallana sturridge This is what I would like to see as well. But don't think Roy has the balls for it. Can see. Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Henderson Milner Welbeck Sturridge Rooney
Devonfox1884 Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 That's my eleven but in a different system. I want us to play a diamond, I want Sterling centrally dragging players all over the place, I want Henderson and Lallana hassling the **** out of the Italian midfield, I want Gerrard sitting in his role, controlling play and being our deepest lying midfielder yet still being positive and looking to pass forward! I want Rooney along side Sturridge, again dragging players around, feeding balls through to Sturridge and running onto balls from Sturridge, I want us to have strikes at goal. I've posted it many a time but this is what I want us to do and where I think we would have our most joy. Hart Johnson -- Cahill -- Jagielka -- Baines Gerrard Henderson ----------------- Lallana Sterling Rooney --------- Sturridge This, but Barkley instead of Sterling. I'd even consider playing Ox in that role as i believe he would be excellent there.
Captain... Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Back 5 is pretty much agreed upon, How is Wilshire's fitness at the moment? I would try Gerrard Milner* Sterling Barkley Lallana Sturridge Sturridge is our best bet for a goal, him and Rooney together don't work, unless they have found the key in training, but Rooney is too sporadic and I would rather build the team to get the best out of our goal threat, than pandering to Rooney's tempremental genius. *I like Henderson and Wilshire, but I would prefer Milner in the middle, he is a CM that has been played out of position and playing him in his favoured role would be best for him and England, especially against Italy and Uruguay. Hodgson will go with: Gerrard Wilshire Milner Rooney Lallana Sturridge
xHamzah Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 I'd like to see this in the first game, as I believe it's important we don't lose the first one: Hart Johnson --- Jagielka -- Cahill --- Baines Gerrard Milner --- Wilshere -- Henderson --- Welbeck Rooney Should start as 4-1-4-1 and can easily change into a 4-3-3/4-5-1 depending on how the game is going.

Instant no from me. Had enough of playing forwards on the wing...and Welbeck? Get Sterling or Lallana there instead.

I would love to see Hart Johnson Jagielka Cahill Baines Gerrard Henderson Sterling Barkley Lallana Sturridge Just for once i would love to see Rooney start on the bench. even though he has had a decent season in an otherwise poor campaign for Man U he has always got the world on his shoulders at major tournaments. Perhaps take some of the limelight off of him and let Barkley start with Rooney coming off the bench. Could get him a goal late in the game against a tired Italian side which would build his confidence massively.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Just me that doesn't get the Henderson hype then?! I'd go: Hart Johnson Jagielka Cahill Baines Gerrard Wilshere Sterling Rooney Lallana Sturridge Tough call between Wilshere and Barkley for me but I'd go Wilshere just because he has slightly more experience and because Barkley is a little more offensive so suited to being a better impact sub. I genuinely would not be surprised to see my line-up with Lampard in place of Wilshere for the Italy match. It's a big game and the big game experience he has will be tempting for Roy.

Guest ttfn Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Henderson Milner Sterling Rooney Sturridge Really the only question mark for me is whether to play Lallana or Sterling. It would have been interesting to see how/if Walcott had fitted in had he been fit. Presumably he'd have been ahead of Lallana and Sterling but we'd have had even better options in those positions than we have now. It seems incredibly harsh to think that neither Sterling nor Lallana might not have been in the side. Can't believe some people are leaving Rooney out at this point. That said he's such a streaky player that I think we'll have a fairly good idea about what sort of tournament he's going to have by half time in the Italy game. Hodgson has to assume he's going to turn up. If it doesn't work in the first game though, he needs to be brave enough to change it,
theessexfox Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Can you imagine if it's something like: Hart Jones Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Lampard Henderson Milner Rooney Welbeck

Let's hope Roy knows what's expected of him, the pressure is off us. Go for broke from the off.

Go for broke from the off. Yeah, but will Roy see that? Will Roy think the same as us or will he be thinking about his job after the World Cup? I think the latter question. It has to be the Liverpool diamond for me, in the way we set up.
Bert Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 We should just go for it. We've been written off already so why not at least try and take the fuuckers on! We're all pretty agreed on the defence. I'm in the Scholes camp too, if the Liverpool players play (that's half of the outfield) a lot of the chemistry is there already. Add to that one of the best midfielders from the prem this season in Lallana and Rooney, we could actually go somewhere. I would love It if we set up like this Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Henderson Sterling Rooney Lallana Sturridge. Rooney always drops deep, so play him in the hole where he actually had the licence to drop deep and make things happen. This would leave Sturridge playing where he's been class all season and thus not really leaving any gaps, as we see when Rooney is the lone front man and drops deep. It'll be a disaster if Sturridge is stuck out wide.

If we play that way and go out then fair enough but if we limp out with the old guard then Roy will have a lot to answer to.Lallana is a must for me

Agree with what Scholes said about Carrick too, think he should of gone instead of Lampard.

I can see Barkley forcing his way in to the starting line-up as we progress (wishful thinking)
Danizen Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Looks like Jason Bent won't be going. Shame because I think he offers something different.
Jimothy Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Do people genuinely find Jason Bent/ Lee Nelson funny? I watched that best ever World Cup goal ever thing the other day, and it wasn't totally unfunny, but the Lee Nelson character is poor.
Unabomber Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Do people genuinely find Jason Bent/ Lee Nelson funny? I find him about as funny as Jon Flanagan seemingly does.
Bert Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 What are you lot on about? Absolute LADish what he tried to do there, can't believe you lot have had the cheek to say this wasn't funny.
