Rocket-Ron Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 Sol Campbell - Free. Pinching him from Spurs....priceless
SystonFox Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 seamus coleman cost about 20 quid And a bag of training balls
Captain... Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 I don't think you can call any free transfers bargains, obviously anything free is a bargain, but then you don't know how much it actually cost in terms of wages. Someone like Joe Hart was a bargain as they spotted his potential and picked him up cheap, you could say that Bale was a huge bargain for Spurs, 7 million seemed a lot to start with, but they sold him for over 10 times that amount. Apparently we got RDL for £1 so they didn't have to pay Stoke anything as part of a sell on clause, and paid 2 million for James. That is a bargain... Anyway transfer fees these days are largely bollocks as they pay to buy out the contract rather than assess the value of the player. If we buy Campbell for 600,000 it is a bargain, but only because he had a buy out clause.
Charl91 Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 Ronaldo for 12 Million also turned out to be a bargain.
Buzzell Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 Patrick Viera - Juventus to Arsenal - £3.5m Alan Shearer - Southampton to Blackburn - £3.6m
Jimothy Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 Patrick Viera - Juventus to Arsenal - £3.5m Alan Shearer - Southampton to Blackburn - £3.6m Vieira came from Milan, he moved to Juve from Arsenal for about £15m I think.
Captain... Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 Alan Shearer - Southampton to Blackburn - £3.6m Behave, today 3.6 mill wouldn't get much, but back then it was a huge amount of money, not far off the record.
Finnegan Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 7m for Bergkamp was a lot of money. only about £6,000
Ric Flair Posted 12 June 2014 Posted 12 June 2014 Kolo Toure to Arsenal £100,000 Shini Kagawa to Dortmund £450,000
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Jamie Vardy... Fleetwood to Leicester. C. 1 million quid
Jimothy Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 The Anelka signing was a real bargain, when you think he helped them to a league and cup double and then got sold for 44 times what he was bought for.
shen Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Rickie Lambert from Bristol Rovers looks a superb bargain in hindsight!
Buzzell Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Behave, today 3.6 mill wouldn't get much, but back then it was a huge amount of money, not far off the record. Good point but still a bargain in my eyes.
