The Doctor Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 He did alright for Algeria at the World Cup, but that's the World Cup. - He did ok at the the very highest level, but that's the very highest level so it doesn't count.
kingfox Posted 12 July 2014 Author Posted 12 July 2014 - He did ok at the the very highest level, but that's the very highest level so it doesn't count. Nothing funny about it. We've seen players in the past perform well at World Cup, Euro's or Friendly's against big teams. Then they go back to the club scene, and don't perform half as well.

No, saying that they did well against the likes of Klose and Lukaku, but won't be able to hack it against Andy Carroll is hilariously stupid.
kingfox Posted 12 July 2014 Author Posted 12 July 2014 No, saying that they did well against the likes of Klose and Lukaku, but won't be able to hack it against Andy Carroll is hilariously stupid. He might not. Who says Lukaku wouldn't tear him apart in the Premier League.
Jace Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 - He did ok at the the very highest level, but that's the very highest level so it doesn't count. Sean St Ledger did well at the last European Championships, doesn't mean he's 1 of the best in Europe.
kingfox Posted 12 July 2014 Author Posted 12 July 2014 Sean St Ledger did well at the last European Championships, doesn't mean he's 1 of the best in Europe. Finally some bloody common sense. Even though I quite liked Sean
Brooksy Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 If we sign this bloke and that slimadounani then there's no reason not to support Algeria at the next World Cup.
The Doctor Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 Sean St Ledger did well at the last European Championships, doesn't mean he's 1 of the best in Europe. Well no (and I'd certainly argue against him doing well at the last Euros - I seem to remember a goal, and the Irish being fairly crap at defending), but doing ok at a world cup doesn't necessarily make you one of the best in the world - but it would certainly suggest that they can hack it against a lower quality opposition. To discredit their performances by saying that they were at the world cup is ridiculous.
Algeriafan Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 If you asked me 5/6 years ago where I felt Halliche would be, I was really expecting much, much more. Just because he had a good world cup it really doesn't mean that much. He also had a good world cup for us in 2010, leading to him being signed by Fulham, and then he did absolutely nothing. That Fulham move actually destroyed his career for a bit, but he's slowly bounced back. According to most reports, he's had a very good season at Academica last season (can't say I've ever seen him play for them) and he did show some very, very good signs at the World Cup. I'd love to see him move to Leicester as an Algerian fan, but he is a risky option for you guys. It could pay off (if it does pay off, he'd be one of the signings of the transfer window) and he is a free agent, but for me Leicester could probably do better. What about Bougherra? Also a free agent, and has experience of playing (successfully enough) at this level. Yes he wasn't great at the World Cup, but for me he'd be less a risk than Halliche. Bougherra has the experience, he's in much better shape than he ever has been (even at his best at Rangers he wasn't in as good shape as he is now). Yes he's rusty, but he has all the attributes to do well in the Premier League for Leicester. Better on the ball than Halliche and quicker than Halliche too. Halliche is probably better in the air but not by much. So yeah my summary would be that Bougherra is the safer, short term solution. Halliche is the more risky, long term solution. Seeing as they're both available on a free, even the risky option of Halliche wouldn't be that risky. Bougherra has just finished a stint of 4 odd years in Qatar, and at his age, and the fact that he's been linked with teams in the MLS, I would question his motivation. For Halliche however, I'm sure he sees this as his last chance to try to make it at the highest level, after the disappointment at Fulham.
Algeriafan Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 And I'd be surprised if Halliche ends up at Leicester. Apparently Espanyol and Qatar FC are both close to getting him, with Qatar FC being closest because they're obviously offering him more money (I'd be so disappointed if he chooses them from an Algerian national team point of view). So, unless something drastically changes I'd say that him moving to Leicester is a very unlikely move.
Algeriafan Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 According to the Algerian media, Halliche is in Doha to carry out a medical and complete a deal to Qatar SC. Shocking choice and I hope he never plays for us again. Doesn't deserve to be at a club like Leicester with that sort of sporting ambition.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 He did alright for Algeria at the World Cup, but that's the World Cup. And yet you've suggested Besler on the back of his World Cup performance for America in another thread...
sphericalfox Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 And yet you've suggested Besler on the back of his World Cup performance for America in another thread... Yeah? How don't you don't know what KF does on his spare time when he's not making sweet love to his sock. He has followed Kansas City since he was 3 1/2 years old, and knows everything there is to know about the MLS (just don't ask him any questions that aren't available via google - thanks!)
kingfox Posted 14 July 2014 Author Posted 14 July 2014 And yet you've suggested Besler on the back of his World Cup performance for America in another thread... Yep, because he actually impressed me. He's one of the best defenders in the MLS, got voted the best defender in the MLS in 2012, USA fans rate him highly. Yeah? Why do I need a sock, when I have a printer... Everything is available via google, everyone uses google, so whatever I say or whatever anyone else says, you can easily say but you got that from google.

And for more information on Besler, why not ask our LCFC brigade in the States? I'm sure they can tell you more than you'll ever be able to make up. Besides, Graham Zusi's a better shout, anyway.

And since those two years ago, he has captained Kansas to the MLS Title of which had the best defence in the MLS, plus he has recieved over 20 caps for USA. And let the American Leicester brigade offer their input if they want. Because quite frankly I've not made anything up & yet again I'm not chatting shit.
Bert Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 Do you just say these things to provoke a reaction or do you actually believe them? There's loads of our team who didn't really tear it up for other clubs but here they are with a Championship title to their name.Like Richie De Laet. Was supposedly guff at Norwich, where Whitbread was supposedly their best defender!

How do you manage to watch every single football league in the world, as well as be an expert on tennis and snooker? Don't you find it weird that nearly everyone thinks that you talk sewage? Anyone can search for stats on the internet.
CosbehFox Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 Because quite frankly I've not made anything up & yet again I'm not chatting shit.Instead what you've done is read a load of blogs, magazine articles and various other websites (including wikipedia) and formulated an opinion on a player without actually seeing him play (until the World Cup). You mentioned Lukaku destroyed him yet anyone with a reasonable thought process would acknowledge he made one minor mistake and was always very tired at the time. You kept mentioning Brooks from the US as a good option yet when I challenge you and said his form for Hertha wasnt any good or consistent you didn't come back. He was actually last season subbed off on more than one occasion before half time he was that bad. Similarly he was dropped for a long spell due to getting a tattoo during the season. However it's likely you read the articles which were being produced by the Yanks upon his call up back in October.!If you'd seen him play live, you'd notice he's very raw with a poor turn of pace and nowhere near ready for regular Bundesliga football. Sorry I had to bite.

Anyone can pull out stats of supposedly good transfer targets, myself included. The only difference is how one portrays oneself with that information. Your tactics is to throw in a plethora of names, with the hope of being right on at least one of them. And the more names you throw in, the higher the probability. You're watering the effects of your "knowledge", kingfox. The really knowledgeable people have long found out that it's not about quantity. Personally, I'm highly sceptical of MLS players being able to replicate their form in the Premier League, given the higher standard of play in England (or Europe, for that matter). Hence I take MLS awards and stats with a pinch of salt - still.
