There will be a first King Power Stadium appearance of the season for Leicester City’s Development Squad next Monday, as they take on Fulham in the Barclays U21 Premier League.
The game will take place at 7pm on Monday 15 September, and will be the first of a trio exciting games for Steve Beaglehole’s side, who follow it up with a trip to Norwich and another home clash against Chelsea.

Competing in the top-tier of the revamped league format, which includes relegation and promotion, City opened their league campaign away to Everton last month, when they were edged out 3-2 in a thrilling game

Last season the Under-21s fixtures at King Power Stadium provided some brilliant entertainment for fans thanks to their competitive nature and attacking style, and with City’s young stars looking to build on that success, things should be no different this time around.

The game against Fulham is one not to be missed, and with tickets priced at just £3 for Adults and £1 for Concessions (West Stand only), there’s every reason to head down to see the next generation of City stars.

A new date has also now been confirmed for the clash with Tottenham Hotspur, which will take place at King Power Stadium on Monday 23 March (KO 7pm).

On-loan Leicester City midfielder Ryan Watson has returned to his parent club from the Cobblers after picking up a cruciate ligament injury.

Watson was due to stay at Sixfields until the January transfer window but has now returned to the King Power Stadium for treatment.

He is the ninth player on the current injured list and his absence represents a significant setback to Town manager Chris Wilder.

“It is a real blow for us and for Ryan,” said boss Chris Wilder.

“I can’t speak highly enough of Ryan. He has done really well for us and his attitude and desire are first class.

“You could tell from the games he played the sort of boy he is. I would like to thank Ryan for his efforts and thank Nigel Pearson and Terry Robinson and Leicester City for allowing us to borrow him.

“We wish Ryan a speedy recovery and hopefully we can look to resurrect the deal when he is fit again.

“We are in a terrible run of injuries at the moment but it speaks volumes for the work ethic and togetherness in the squad that the lads are getting on with things and that we have got ourselves to fifth in the table.

“This is another blow we will take in our stride and move forwards from.”

Boro have agreed a month-long loan deal to bring Leicester City winger Adam Dawson to the James Parnell Stadium.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who can play on either flank, started this season on loan at Notts County.

Boro boss Liam Daish hopes Dawson will help address one of the problems he has identified and add a bit of width to Boro's midfield.

Like the sound of this crop of Under 18s. Plenty playing at International level, winning their league games and a bit of hype around some time. Is promoting to the Under 21s a thing that teams do any more?

If they're all 17 maybe it won't be long before they are touted for lower league loans.

Leicester City will be among eight English clubs to compete in the inaugural ‘Premier League International Cup’, launched by the Premier League today.

A four-group tournament involving some of the top Premier League U21 and elite development teams from England and other European leagues, the new format will see some of the continent’s best young players competing on English soil.

City have been drawn in Group C alongside Manchester City, Benfica and Schalke. The tournament begins tonight (Wednesday) with a Group B match West Ham United v Athletic Club Bilbao at the Boleyn Ground. Kick-off is at 7pm and tickets are available at the stadium.

Free entry will be given to season ticket holders and for other fans keen to attend, tickets are priced at £3 for adults and £1 for children.

In addition to Leicester, Manchester City and West Ham, English clubs involved in the tournament are: Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Norwich City, and Sunderland.

All eight of those clubs have Category One Youth Academies.

The international clubs taking part are: Athletic Club Bilbao, Benfica, Borussia Monchengladbach, Celtic, Schalke, Porto, PSV Eindhoven, and Villarreal.

The full groups are as follows:

Group stage matches will be played between 15 October 2014 and 31 January 2015 with a full fixture programme due to be published.

All matches will be organised by the Premier League. Clubs will play each team in their group once and all matches, including those between international teams, will be played in England.

Upon completion of the group stages the winners and runners-up from each group will progress to the quarter-finals and semi-finals and final, all to be played as single-leg ties in England.

Premier League Director of Youth, Ged Roddy, said: “When we launched the Elite Player Performance Plan in 2012 we recognised that providing competitive opportunities for the 18-21 age group – against English and international opposition – was a key objective in order to prepare Academy players for Barclays Premier League football.

“Since then we are two seasons into a Barclays U21 Premier League that now sees each club play at least three matches at their main stadium, crowds in the thousands watching matches – including more than 10,000 at Norwich v Spurs - and several games broadcast live on Sky Sports and BT Sport.

“The Premier League International Cup will see some of the best young players in this country able to test themselves in competitive matches against some of most talented young players in Europe.”
