MPH Posted 11 August 2014 Posted 11 August 2014 Hmm, perhaps I should have worded that better. An agent will offer his client to everyone who wants (and can afford) him So saying that he's been offered to QPR seems a bit strange as it's surely them that has contacted the agent rather than the other way around? Surely the likely version of events were; -We became interested in him. -Details of contract leaked. -QPR realise he's going cheap. -QPR contact agent. -Agent listens to their offer. I do see what you are saying, but he's probably told his agent to find a prem club, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has said he'd prefer a London club.... I'd just be really surprised if we were his first choice.... I mean, there's probably even Argentinian resturants, ect in London..... ( quick google searches pulls up loads.) I mean lets be honest , someone with absolutely no cultural attachment to Leicester or anywhere in England is likely to want a little bit of familularity. OR it could just be that his agent has been told about how QPR splash their cash about..... more money for his client = more money for him, of course....
Jakemoore Posted 11 August 2014 Posted 11 August 2014 Getting excited, hoping that 9 o'clock will be news time! I'll be on a plane on route to Turkey mind you....
Mark_from_USA Posted 11 August 2014 Posted 11 August 2014 Guys, you are being jobbed by the London journos. You know, the ones Nigel swore at. - Some agent leaks, though deal is already in the bag. - Nige gets annoyed. - Some journo annoys him more, and gets told off with an F bomb. - Journo prints tripe in Sunday paper to get Nige and all the Leicester fans riled up. - FoxesTalk forum falls for it, hook, line and sinker. Moral of the story, don't listen to ridiculous London Journos. They make the term 'British Sports Journalism' an oxymoron.

Only trouble with this theory is the fact that the first reports of him having signed for two years came from Argentina, not London journos!
Mark_from_USA Posted 11 August 2014 Posted 11 August 2014 Only trouble with this theory is the fact that the first reports of him having signed for two years came from Argentina, not London journos! Its not the initial report, its the one linking QPR today that was bogus,or at least trumped up to annoy Leicester folks.
Finnegan Posted 11 August 2014 Posted 11 August 2014 Some of you are developing a serious inferiority complex re QPR and their perceived wealth.
separator Posted 11 August 2014 Posted 11 August 2014 'Foxes fume at Esteban 'leak'' piece in the Metro newspaper this morning. No new info or mention of QPR though
reynard Posted 11 August 2014 Posted 11 August 2014 This reminds me quite a lot of the Cruyff saga all those years ago and he opted to go somehwere where the weather was better! We'll see what happens but he could quite easily end up somewhere else prepared to pay him more money. Genuine question though. If this guy is all he's cracked up to be why is he still a free agent so close to the start of the new seasons all across Europe? I don't really understand why he's not already been snapped up. How long has he been a free agent?

How long has he been a free agent? Reading the Inter forums and apparently he has no legs any more and was looking worse and worse every match last year, and he also may be wanting somewhat regular match time, which if this is true he probably wouldn't get at any 'big' team A lot of stuff like this: Too old and too weak to pass the ball, to run, to tackle. For this player we pay 4mil or whatever is the amount. But hey, he is a legend, so it's all good. Sneijder was a twitter whore, he had to go! The same money we are giving Cambiasso, we couldn't give the same money to Sneijder, oh no no no.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 11 August 2014 Posted 11 August 2014 Harry Redknapp is football's equivalent of a dog in heat. Interesting. I've heard he shits like a Great Dane and likes to sniff peoples arseholes
benpicko Posted 11 August 2014 Posted 11 August 2014 Though somebody else said: He`s been carrying the team on his shoulders despite his aging problems and now you`re making fun of him? dont blame him for not buying a proper replacement, blame the managment you bricks!

If he hasn't got the legs for the Italian league will he struggle in the Premier which is a lot higher in quality and played at a much greater intensity level?? Good experienced pro though so that might offset this slightly.

In the space of 10 pages or so they've gone from praying for him to fvck off to the MLS and wishing injuries upon him so that he can't play, to saying that he's playing the wrong role currently and is still one of the best midfielders in Italy.

That's probably a pretty common thing with most fanbases. Players are either brilliant or useless. You see it on here in the player ratings after a game - it's silly how one player can get a 7 and a 4 for the same performance. Unless fans are all agreed you can't be sure I don't think. Too many people like making big statements and want to exaggerate how good/bad something is.

Good experienced pro though so that might offset this slightly. The premier league is intensely quick at both ends of the pitch but often you get a lot more time to play it out from the back than the championship. If he can drop deep, pick it up and pull the strings he could be really useful - bit like stevie G has adapted his game
Jace Posted 11 August 2014 Posted 11 August 2014 Christ people saying they think this sounds bad he's past he's out of contract! Hardly a big gamble is it compared to what we would pay for a transfer fee for a player of his quality. We will be barely be paying more than what we paid for Michael Johnson and considering we now have Premier League revenue coming in it shouldn't be a big concern to us. Some fans worry too much there isn't a footballer out there who wouldn't be a gamble

Not sure I would worry greatly over what is said in forums, unless of course it seems that the point being made is one that is broadly agreed by most of the posters. If Messi played for city you would no doubt find at least one person on here explaining why he is over hyped rubbish and that the manager knows nothing. I can only assume that, with the management teams pretty good track record with regards to transfers and their mantra of 'team', they have done their research on the guy both as a player and as a man and they feel he will be a great asset to the team as a whole; both on and off the pitch. Although highly entertaining in its own right, Nige's extremely angry outburst after Saturdays game gave me the impression that he really wants this to happen, as opposed to it just being a 'marque' signing with dubious, not wholly footballing reasons. If that is the case then I hope we get him and if it isn't then....meh!...next!
Mack Posted 11 August 2014 Posted 11 August 2014 #ITK #Swag #YOLO ? That came from someone who could well know. Only passing it on. I've been told today he checked into the Hilton, was at the stadium, and then signed around 10:30 yesterday evening.

Fans are always split over players but I do find it strange that a player of his undoubted quality has not sorted out a club before now. Seems a bit unprofessional of his agent after all even quality players need a pre season. Not sure when he became a free agent though.
