Assuming that Vardy, Knockaert, Upson & Albrighton all miss out...

Schmeichel

De Laet - Morgan - Moore - Konchesky

James - Drinkwater

Mahrez - Nugent - Schlupp

Ulloa

Subs; Hamer, Wasilewski, King, Hammond, Taylor-Fletcher, Hopper, Wood

I must admit typing that out has made me think we definitely need a couple more signings in. I'm not convinced that's a stronger team than we finished last season with.

well it's not because two of our best players and one of our key signings are missing.

City boss Nigel Pearson has revealed that Marc Albrighton’s fitness is being monitored ahead of the start of the Barclays Premier League season after picking up a knock against Werder Bremen.
The Foxes host Merseyside club Everton at King Power Stadium this coming Saturday, and will be keen to have the former Aston Villa midfielder available for his home debut despite seeing him withdrawn in City’s final pre-season game – a 1-0 friendly win against the German club.

Albrighton has looked sharp in a Leicester City shirt so far this pre-season campaign and has certainly impressed Pearson, but a groin injury sees him join Anthony Knockaert, Matthew Upson and Jamie Vardy on the treatment table, as least temporarily.

Speaking after the Bremen victory, Pearson said: “(We’re) disappointed to pick up a potential injury in terms of Marc Albrighton because I think he’s had a very good pre-season so that’s the only downside.

“It’s groin related but exactly what I don’t know at the moment, we will have to wait and get the scan results.

“We will deal with it – it’s something that happens and I’d rather pick up injuries in games rather than in training so we will have to see how that pans out.”

Alongside Albrighton, Anthony Knockaert and Jamie Vardy have also been receiving treatment ahead of the visit of Everton. Pearson added: “Anthony is not going to be as long as we first thought – it’s still going to be a couple of weeks.

“Jamie Vardy is improving and whether he will be available for next week is, at the moment, a little bit unclear but he’s doing ok - he’s about where we think he should be.

“Matt [upson] will have to undergo a bit of surgery so he will be a while yet. "I want someone of his quality to do what we want him to do. He is still a really good signing for us and it is frustrating for the lad more than anything else.

"He will have a big impact on the season, I have no doubt in my mind.”

This is the exact quote from the weekend after the Bremen game. Just shows our OS are extremely slow at publishing stories

Could become a theme for all we know. We did by and large get pretty lucky with injuries last season. We're starting this season with more injuries than I can remember them ever having at any point last year.

as far as i'm aware (not #itk) they're all just very minor niggles are they not? upson aside they'll all be near enough fit just whether they want to be risked or not?

as has been pointed out in other threads i don't think there's a lot of luck about it, pearson has always been incredibly astute and on the ball when it comes to sports science and fitness. that helps our immense pressing game and is surely the reason the likes of vardy and knockaert and even, seemingly impossibly, dyer have gotten even quicker in recent years. i think we'll continue to be fine on the injury front (touch wood) once we get into the swing of things. most clubs have 3 or 4 players who pick up niggles in pre season, it's obviously when players are least prepared in pre season. i also doubt this is the end of our transfer activity. especially if wood's on his way out, an injury to a striker, in this case vardy, leaves us with 2 strikers and taylor fletcher.

4-3-3...really worried about three in midfield, we played well last year with this formation with 20 mins left against championship sides...against Everton for 90 with Barkley Baines Mirallas and co...that scares me.

We really do need a left sided Winger, Left back, central midfielder and, assuming Wood is off to Wolves, a striker too.

Has Pilkington signed a deal with Norwich because I think he'd fit right in.

James Wilson is looking really promising for United U21's and if we need depth up front I'd like him, would be relatively cheap too.

Hopefully we can bring Cambiasso in.

Not too sure on a left back.

World class hahahaha

coleman is probably the best attacking right back in the prem and defensively he has come on leaps and bounds over the last season, he will be the best attacking full back this season as well

No better than Zabaleta, Debuchy, Sagna, and Azipelata (sp?) . If Mahrez or whoever plays on the left tracks back and Konchesky doesn't venture too far forward i'm not that worried.

We have two left-sided wingers, another would be a waste of money.

Left back I believe Schlupp deserves a chance and for the time being Konchesky is adequate cover

Central midfielder - if Cambiasso signs then our problem is solved. I take issue with Hammond as 4th choice but not as 5th choice.

Again, Ulloa, Nugent, Vardy I think is ok considering its unlikely we'll be playing 2 up front. Also it doesn't look like that deal is going ahead.

dont remember these scoring to many

with 6 goals from open play last season i would still put coleman as the best attacking right back in the prem

Injured: Upson, Albrighton, Knockaert

Thats about your lot!

lol  Sorry, if you're talking about them being better attacking full-backs then you've lost it. Zabaleta is a class player and besides Lahm, probably the most rounded full-back in the world. Azpilicueta had an excellent season albeit at LB. Debuchy is a good player, Sagna, a really good defender but awful going forward. Atrocious crosser of the ball, sometimes so bad that they confuse everybody and sneak through.

I'd say Coleman is the second best RB in the league.

stands on if he is fit or not, if he was would be a no brainer.

Yeah but you have Knockaert starting and Albrighton on the bench, and they're both injured too and have no chance of starting apparently. Vardy could be a possibility but may not be ready for saturday

Assuming everyone is fit.

---------------Kasper-------------

RDL-----Morgan-----Wasyl-----Kochesky

Albrighton--Drinkwater--James--Mahrez

-----------Vardy-------Ulloa--------

I think Pearson will have the confidence to say 'go and attack like last season' in a 4-4-2.

Nugent in for Vardy if he isn't fit. Schluup/Knockaert in for Albrighton if he's not fit.

Still think Wasyl is underrated by some fans. He kept Moore out of the team on merit last season. His experience will be vital. Although I wouldn't begrudge Moore being given the nod.
