XI for Everton

I know there's been many of these threads but I think it's relevant now we're in the week running up to the match.

Schmeichel

De Leat Morgan Moore Konchesky

James Drinkwater

Mahrez Nugent Schlupp

Ulloa

Does anyone disagree with that? With Albrighton, Knockaert and Vardy out, Schlupp is almost the only option for the left wing.

I'd be quite happy with that considering injuries. ...... With Cambiasso on the bench mind ;)

With Ulloa replacing Vardy if he's out and Albrighton replacing Knockaert if he's out. If there's no Albrighton or Knockaert then I'd push Schlupp forward and put Konch in as you suggest.

Yeah I like that. Thought Knockaert looked better against Everton last time and obviously he's been with us longer so I'd put him on before Albrighton currently. Unfortunately doesn't look like we'll be able to play either

Is, for me, our best starting XI on paper. Slightly worrying that it only includes 2 new players on last season's starting XI, but there you go...

I haven't heard anything definitive about the injuries. We know Albrighton and Vardy are doubts, and that Knockaert is a major doubt, but does anyone know anything more than that? As far as I know, no one from the club has ruled them in or out yet, and a decision probably won't be made until later in the week.

If Vardy can't play, then replacing him with Nugent shouldn't do us much harm. He's had a good pre-season and he'll be fired up to play Everton.

It's the Albrighton injury that worries me, particularly if Knockaert is out too. It means we'd probably have to play Schlupp on the left wing (who won't provide as much defensive cover as Albrighton does), and Konchesky at left back (who I highly expect will get mugged throughout the game).

Highlights the need for more strength in depth before the transfer window closes. Still, I fancy us to give them a good game.

Still think that our best starting XI is the one we played most of last season with, unfortunately doesn't look like we'll be able to play Knockaert or potentially Vardy so:

Schmeichel

De Laet - Morgan - Moore - Konchesky

James - Drinkwater

Mahrez - Nugent - Schlupp

Ulloa

Definitely put Knockaert and Vardy on if they're all right to play though.

Dont see how King cant start after Saturday, he was superb in behind Nugent

I think the side around that picks itself if the injuries dont clear up. Hopefully Albrighton may make it as looked good

Mahrez - King - Nugent

If Vardy and Knockaert can play I would replace King and Nugent.

hi - my first post :)

can't see how we can leave Nugent out after the preseason he's been having - but then it'd be a decision between him and King in the number 10 place assuming Vardy isn't 100%

would love Vardy to be at least on the bench mind

I agree we will probably try 4-2-3-1

I'm just worried that the formation is going to leave us a little stretched giving danny and matty too much to do and leaving whoever is number 10 unsure about supporting leo or helping them out

GTF got caught out a bit in no mans land during friendlies and wasn't always there to help leo out

maybe a case for 4 - 5 -1 with Dean and Matty giving Danny licence to run forward to support and the wingers having to do a lot of running and cut inside to act as an additional option upfront when we break forward. Richie will be making forward runs and depending on who is at LB we might have both full backs supporting an attack

hoping Anthony and Marc are fit and Jamie too please ... oh and can we have cambiasso ready to come on if needed too ... :)

So much for competition for places then. If Wood is indeed sold off, we will struggle to fill the Bench now.  Unfortunately, the lack of new faces coming in thus far, has now come back to bite us on the Bum.  Hopefully a couple will be coming in - soon.

de laet, morgan, moore, konchesky

albrighton/knockaert (no idea on any injury situation), drinkwater, james, riyad

nugent, vardy

keep going with last season. these boys can make the step up. and if they can't use the bench but i don't see why we wouldn't give them a chance. vardy/nuge partnership is a winner.

If knocky is not fit I would start Vardy with Ulloa moving in behind him.

Depends who is available. I'd happily swap Ulloa for Vardy or Albrighton for Knockaert.
