indierich06 Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Probably one of Redknapp's best signings this summer - bring in someone who's not an actual buffoon and might be able to take QPR forward and call him a 'first team coach'. Reminds me of when he appointed McLaren and they were flying in the Championship, only for things to mysteriously go wrong once he left for Derby.
Fox92 Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 I've got a lot of respect for Hoddle. Obviously a great player, but I do think he knows what he is actually talking about when he's on tele.
Haydos Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Great appointment, would definitely have taken him here but we seem to have a pretty tight knit coaching group anyway. I'm going to stick my neck out and say they'll do alright this year, some good work over the last couple of weeks.

An Away Move Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 I see QPR have just 'signed' Hoddle as their first team coach because Harry wants to play 3:5:2 next season and he considers Hoddle as an expert in getting the best out of players when playing in this formation. I personally really rate Hoddle as a coach and as such think QPR have just done one of the smartest things they've done in a while. I fancied them for relegation quite strongly before this. This could make the difference for them. And whilst I think we will be ok, I quite liked the idea of at least two teams being so shit that we wouldn't have to worry about at least two of the relegation places.
Rocky Dennis Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Hoddle has been such a HUGE success as a coach right? - hang on a minute............
Jace Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 He will certainly be a positive rather than a negative for them very clever guy when it comes to attacking football
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Still in no way think they are are a better side than us, no matter what new hipster system they are playing. They finished 22 points behind us last season and if they sell Remy they haven't convinced me they have improved sufficiently to close that gap.
Stadt Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 As usual he's got somebody in to do the tactical side of things
Jace Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 As usual he's got somebody in to do the tactical side of things As long as Harrys still in charge of financial affairs we should be ok
GingerrrFox Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Green Caulker Ferdinand Onouha Isla Barton Faurlin Simpson Mutch Remy Austin Solid enough to stay up. Especially with Hoddle coaching that formation.
ScouseFox Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 still a massive lack of any sort of creativity imo, which was the whole problem last year. i'd be amazed if remy was still there come september, too.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 At the risk of sounding "different to be hip," why is this such a spaff-worthy appointment? It's one thing being an articulate pundit, it's another implementing ideas; and his coaching career post-England is the epitome of mediocrity. I can see him bringing something extra to Loftus Road but I can't get my head around the viewpoint that he's some kind of mythical panacea for both English football and (in this case) QPR.
Samilktray Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Remy must be going on at his agent to sort out a move elsewhere. Far too good for those peasants.
Guest Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Col disappears at the same time as Hoddle is appointed.... coincidence?
Webbo Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 What's the betting he'll be manager there this time next year?
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 What's the betting he'll be manager there this time next year? I'd put money on him being manager come January.
PAULCFC Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Can't see Hoddle doing much with Barton,in fact i think Hoddle's forgot more than Barton knows about Midfield play.

The Doctor Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Given they're trying to get rid of Remy, they're still stuck with just one player capable of scoring. Bringing hoddle in won't help, redknapps complete failure in the transfer market so far has doomed them.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 I know their's a difference between being a player and coaching.....but did you ever see him play? If you know there's a difference then you also know your question is redundant and I don't see why you've asked it, BUT. I remember him (very) vaguely but only in his Chelsea player-manager days, however I'm aware of how good a player he was.

I'm not a Redknapp advocate by any stretch but how have you come to the conclusion that he's "failed" in the transfer market when the season hasn't begun yet?

This summer he's had two requirements - another goal-scorer, and a creative player. He's signed instead an over the hill centre back and tried to shift out a potential goal-scorer. It's like needing more milk, so going to the shop and coming back with a bag of wotsits.

Jordan Mutch isn't a creative player? Matt Phillips will also be nearing fitness at some point who missed a good chunk of last season and is a handy enough player in a forward role. They aren't in dire straights up top and still have Remy and Taarabt on their books at the minute, too - as said I'm not a Redknapp enthusiast or anything of the sort but let's not criticise him for the sake of it because it's the "in" thing.
